My friend and I went into this store on a Sunday afternoon because I’ve always wanted to look into getting my niece a baby hanbok. We had masks and walked inside the store. The door was open there was no signage of it being “Appointment Only” as everyone is stating is how they do it below. Regardless, we take about two steps into the store and a lady comes towards us and asks us something which I couldn’t quite understand at first. But I believe she was asking if we where going to purchase a hanbok … so my friend said actually we’re just looking. As soon as we said that she said OH… actually we’re appointment only … the started saying SORRY … in like a high pitched what sounded to me as a mocking voice. But that’s just me. Anyways we where a little shocked but not shocked at the same time that we got treated like this. Keep in mind we are colored (Hispanic/black) but that shouldn’t matter. Anyways we found it funny afterwards how she was sitting there with no mask on and then it wasn’t until after she verified that we where just looking that she decided to mention they only did appointments. Makes me wonder what she would have done if we said yes we are looking for this etc etc … but I’ll tell you what I have a friend who lives in Daegu, South Korea who can easily get my any hanbok I would want. So even if I was specifically looking for something in the future. I would not return here. If you’re store is appointment only say it from the beginning and maybe close your door as well as have it clearly posted somewhere so that people aren’t constantly walking in on you. I mean for safety reasons and just so that people aren’t confused.

My wife (Korean) and I are doing a wedding photo shoot and she always talked of wanting to wear a hanbok. So we found this place next to duluth hmart to try it out. I, for one, was surprised by the wide array and quality of the traditional Korean outfits they carried, and the expertise of the owners as they were so good at making suggestions. We ended up reserving the perfect outfit right away! Highly recommend this place for everyone looking for traditional Korean outfit!

My wife and I had a wonderful experience here. The store has a wide variety of hanboks in different styles and colors. Hanboks, in modern times, are mainly worn on special occasions so they are of high quality and the ones in this store were no different. Don’t be fooled by the ones sold online in America for significantly less. You get what you pay for. Here you get quality and authentic Korean hanboks. The owners were courteous throughout the whole process from selecting hanboks to explaining pyebaek (korean wedding custom). The owners also have many years of experience in dress making and alterations to ensure the fit of hanboks were just right on me and my wife.Renting was a great alternative in time and money than trying to purchase hanboks from korea and being unsure of fit when it arrived. If you are looking for hanboks, this is a great place to rent for your next event! We love how our pictures of our pyebaek came out! Thank you Hanbok Town!

I am not a fan of negative reviews, but I do think it is important to let other people know what they are getting into.I am getting married, and my fiancé is Korean, so I wanted to wear a hanbok because I think it is very pretty! This is located within the H Mart shopping district (I believe under the Pika Pika Hair Salon). My fiancé was able to make an appointment for the day before. Our appointment was at noon. Everything was fine there. All of the hanboks were absolutely beautiful! It was amazing quality and everything. They really did treated us right when we first walked in.They picked out the skirt and the jacket for me first to figure out a style that we would go for. And then we picked out the outfit for him after to compliment my dress. They had so many different options, which was really nice! So, we found the outfit we liked. Now, it is time to talk about payment. We all got back into our normal wear, and that was when things got pretty bad, like Sarah's review mentioned. They quoted us $1,200 for my dress alone. This includes the skirt, the jacket, shoes and I believe petticoat. My fiance's was going to be $1,000. This includes the pants, jacket, undershirt and the rope. She had given us a discount of $200, because it was originally $1,400 and $1,200, respectively. Just like the previous review, we did not want to go with the first store we had went too. We did not want to pay that much as well. We asked how much renting would be. We could not have it altered (of course), it would have been $600 per person. She kept mentioning that this was "high quality" and it felt like a very nice quality. But I didn't mind getting something on a more medium quality and pay a more medium price. I don't mind paying for what I get. It was just outside my budget. She had asked how much we were willing to spend, and she said they cannot do it at the price we mentioned. I respected it, but we just can't do it.I do not speak Korean, but he does. And he said that we wanted to think about it. After he mentioned that, she said that we *should* buy the hanboks because they spent so much time helping us find an outfit. Number 1, we are not going to be guilted into buying something just because someone spent time with us, UNLESS it says so on the appointment request. Number 2. If you want someone to pay, simply charge an appointment fee. Then you won't feel like your time was "wasted". Because I've been to wedding dress stores, and they do not make me buy a dress, why would we buy a dress here? The bridal boutique doesn't even charge to try on dresses. Even $600 is enough for us to think and consider our options.*I will say that there is a section on the wall that mentioned NOT to take pictures and we did of my outfit. She mentioned that we took pictures so we should pay. I didn't see the notice - our fault, and I told her I can delete the pictures of the dress I was wearing. And we both pushed that we can delete the pictures in front of her so she can see it - but it wasn't really about the picture. It felt like she wanted leverage for us to buy something because we took a picture.I'm Asian, so I know Asian guilt tripping when I see it. We do NOT appreciate it. I think it would be the best experiences for all if they just charge in the beginning. This will save them from "wasted time". Because I am a person who believes in paying people their worth, but also respecting our wishes if we do not want to go through it that day. I do not want to feel like I'm forced to buy anything. I wanted to talk to our family about it, because we were paying for it ourselves, and we are in school. They've been in business for awhile it seems, it just a bad experiences which I wish it could have been better. If you have money for it, this is a great store. But it would be better not to come here and not buy if you do not plan on it. And that is why it is a negative review.

I would like to comment on Sarah Whatling’s review. I love this store. I like to see this kind of small business do well since she always do her best to satisfy customers. When i read Mrs. Sarah Whatling’s review it was shocking because i know the owner very well. Thus i contacted her and heard the story. The owner’s husband is in very poor chronic health condition so she is the breadwinner for the family. During this pandemic , the owner is very careful not to transmit any virus to her husband so she closed her business since nature of her business is to meet strangers and requires close contact, but for those who knows what to buy, she opens her business by appointment. About 2 months ago, when Sarah’s mom called, she explained she doesn’t want to open her shop, but her mom said she would definitely buy one. Sarah came with her mother and looked around and even had taken lot of pictures. First of all she said the owner was dishonest. Owner said they are the one who lie. She never said $265, she said she doesn't carry that kind of hanbok. Her hanbok ranges from $120 to $160. When she adds accessories that she wants plus tax, then it may add up to $265 or so. But now she falsely accuses her for being dishonest. The Owner had to drive one hour to make this appointment but she felt that Sarah and her mother came with intention to order thru internet after having looked several pieces. In this pandemic situation, owner wants to minimize contact as little as possible. But Sarah’s mother sounded desperate thus she decided to let them come and buy.If she was just for looking, owner would not open the store for them under this pandemic considering her husband’s health who is prone to easily infected. But she said she would buy. If you read her review, she said she was just checking...she said she wouldn’t buy one from that place without checking other option. So who is dishonest? Of course that is her choice but she doesn’t have to lie... not honest. She should’ve told the owner her intention. But she mislead the owner. She made the owner have taken risk for covid19, which she is extremely cautious for her husband. Thus the owner felt she was mislead. She remembers her and her mother vividly. It is not ethical to create a story to express her anger when the owner honestly expressed she’d better not come. Of course it can sound like insulting but knowing her situation and her husband’s, understandable. So she just want to say “ Sarah, i can see you are not happy but you don't need to make up the story , If i was dishonest, I could’ do business this long. Lot of people thru words of mouth, many loves our service because of our assured customer satisfaction . If you want to take an advantage of retailer for your saving money, i cannot afford that ”

This store currently only opens for appointments due to the pandemic. Fair enough. We made an appointment with the owner to come visit the store The store hours were not the problem. The owner was dishonest, pushy, and flat out RUDE. She quoted $135 for children's Hanboks to my uncle (who lives in Duluth) the day before we came. When we arrived, she told us the hanboks were $265 after hearingmy mother came from out of state?!?!? What a ridiculous markup!!! By the way, $265 was just for the hanbok itself. Socks, Shoes, belts and accessories were all an extra $20-40 for each item.Since this was the first place we looked for a hanbok, We didn't want to buy one from this store right away without checking other options and places. We thanked the lady for her help and told her we would think about it. That's when things got ugly. The owner immediately became rude and stated it was rude of us to 'just be looking', and she expected us to buy a hanbok since she had to drive 30 minutes to come and open the store for us. Excuse me? For $265+, a customer should be fully happy with their purchase. We told her we were not going to buy anything. She told us never to come back, and at that point, we happily turned around and left to take our business elsewhere. I have never been more insulted and treated so rudely as a customer anywhere in my life.I ended up getting a higher quality and more beautiful hanbok complete with socks, shoes and accessories straight from Korea for less. $265... what a joke! Do yourself a favor and buy one straight from Korea if you can.If you want god-awful customer service and highly over-priced hanboks, this place is your go to.

If I could give this business minus stars, I would! I was looking for a first birthday hanbok for my son and wanted to try looking locally first. My mother (who came from out of state) who happened to be in town wanted to check the store out. This store is listed with different names. It is listed as Hanbok Town on Yelp, but the store sign is Honsu town () located on Pleasant Hill Road. On their website they go by Atlanta Hanbok.. This store currently only opens for appointments due to the pandemic. Fair enough. We made an appointment with the owner to come visit the store The store hours were not the problem.
