This was my first good experience getting my hair done professionally. Narada really delivered! He was so gentle with the detangling process and blow drying (which are things that I hate the most about getting my hair done from previous traumatic salon visits). And of course the style he gave my hair was flawless! I’m so grateful to have found him❤️ please don’t hesitate to book, his talent is worth every single penny plus some.

Narada provided me with exactly what I needed, when I needed it to get my hair back to the natural texture I grew to love over 7 years ago. Although my hair is thickety thick & not afraid to grow under any condition, I wanted to be able to have my twist-outs again without straight ends, knots and split-ends which came from constant flat-ironing getting in the way. Narada was so detailed and gentle from wash to the finished product...I never in my life had such a gentle blow drying experience. I will forever be appreciative of his professionalism and expert consultation. Those thumbs are definitely Griyn! Looking forward to my 6 month follow-up. ❤️Pam
Requested style: Mohawk twist
Stylist: Narada is the chef's kiss ?!

Leaving a poor review due to the poor customer service I experienced. Unfortunately, i never made it to the process of actually getting my hair done. The stylist that i spoke with got an attitude with me because i was simply asking questions about the service being offered for the $400 price they quoted. They didn't hesitate sending me the $50 deposit link, but i had to ask for the total price of my hair and the break down of the services.
****As you can see from the response, the stylist has alot of micro aggression against inquisitive client's, especially if they are first time customers. The stylist got angered when I asked for a breakdown of the price. What customer would not want to know why a trim (ends clipped) is $200? The stylist felt as though she didn't need to explain. And i simply asked if the price was usd, because i am in the military and have been overseas for the past 8 years. If you are charging $400 for your service, then the cust9mer service needs to match the price.****

I went to this salon a month ago and was serviced by Narada aka Afrikan Hair God. I decided after watching his TikToks and some of his yt videos that he would be best for my natural hair needs. His videos provided invaluable insight on how to have healthy natural hair that flourishes. His videos did give me some reassurance that my hair was in great hands.
I will admit I was still a little nervous as I did not have the best experiences when it came to hair salons. However as the appointment progressed I was definitely more comfortable and relaxed. During the appointment we watched a show about polyandry which was definitely interesting to say the least! LOL.
Narada is very knowledgeable when it comes to natural hair. He assessed my hair and gave me his advice on how to proceed. We decided it was best to cut out all my damaged colored hair and start fresh. Leaving me with 5 inches of hair. Happy to be rid of the damage! He gave me a really nice hairstyle that I rocked all month long!
He gave me realistic advice on how to care for my hair on my own giving my hair the best chance for optimal health, growth and length retention. Definitely looking forward to coming in some months for my next appointment!
If you are in need of a salon that really cares for natural hair look no further than here! I promise you are in great hands!

I decided to start my loc journey and, after reading the reviews, decided to go to Griyn Thumb. Setting the appointment was easy. I sent a pic of my hair as required.

I was greeted as soon as I came in and the energy felt really good. Even though I had arrived early, Henny wasted no time getting me in the chair. The price ended up being higher than the quote because I saw the size of Henny’s locs and decided I wanted mine to be smaller.

My locs turned out BEAUTIFULLY. I’ve been maintaining them myself. I got them done on May 16, 2024. It’s now July 11 and they’ve grown AN INCH. I love my locs. Whether you’re looking to start your loc journey, looking for a new loctician or looking for a salon that’s focused on caring for your natural hair, Griyn Thumb is IT!!!

Listen up! This hair salon is the absolute truth. I have been skeptical of hair stylists ever since I had a bad hair cut in 2020 while I was transitioning from a relaxer to natural hair. I ending up transitioning for 18.5 months in total and did it all on my own after that bad experience. I also continued to care for my hair up until recently (July 2024), UNTIL I found Narada. I've been an avid supporter of his content on YouTube and have valued his knowledge. If you ever have time, make sure you watch some of his videos because after watching them you'll see exactly what I'm talking about. This man knows what he is talking about. And he is the only person I was brave enough to trust with my hair. And he did not disappoint! I've always been pretty serious about my hair care, even when it was relaxed (low back length). Narada handles your hair gently, and isn't scissor happy. He will definitely let you know what needs to be cut, but he will only do what you allow him to. With that being said, even the amount of hair he recommends being cut is rather generous. His focus is on healthy hair and only cutting what's necessary. He doesn't depend upon a little white cape underneath your hair to be able to tell him what needs to be cut...he looks at your hair! Doesn't that make sense. And his prices are well worth it. I think natural hair clients (us) need to be more realistic about hair pricing these days. Most stylists are charging appropriately for the amount of work they do, and for the amount of times we actually go to see them. When most of us had relaxed hair, we went way more often. Therefore, the prices were cheaper. However since we go less often, it's going to be a little more expensive. Take me for instance, when I had relaxed hair, I went every 6 weeks ($75). That's approx over $600 bucks per year (and I only went for relaxers, so most of you all probably spent more). Now imagine if you only go to a natural hair stylist 1-2 times per year...it's the same thing! Maybe even less. And these folks have to live and still pay their bills. Folks be trying to put them out of business with the price complaints. So all in all, I say all that to say, I highly recommend The Griyn Thumb and Narada for caring for your natural hair. You'll be in excellent hands. If you're on the fence, at least go in for a consultation first.

I give them five stars mainly for their straightforward booking process, clean hair salon, clean/professional stylists, effective communication(throughout the entire process), and gentle/simple styling( no Tylenol needed post visit). Initially the price may sound high, but that’s around what they charge where I live… only the stylists in my area do barely half as much, so I’d say the pricing was fair as well. It was around what I was expecting to spend, so no surprises there… which is also nice. Overall I highly recommend. Henny styled my hair, and I found the shop through African Hair god YT channel. She answered all of my questions pertaining to my hair and provided a judgement free zone.

I am so excited the salon graciously accomdated my schedule at short notice, as I was flying in for a special event. The stylist, Narada, is courteous and knowledgeable. He first heard my requests and concerns then styled my kinky-coily hair flawlessly with gentleness, care and ease! As promised, he shampooed, conditioned, moisturized and flat twisted my tresses in an elegant updo on time for my event.

I was very satisfied with my style and hair care but did not care for the way I was greeted upon arrival by the female stylist. I was greeted as if I was unwanted and an annoyance. After style was complete I waited outside and was not even acknowledged when stylists were leaving. They simply walked by with not even a goodbye or thank you for coming. Would prefer better customer service in the future as natural styling is not an inexpensive service.

Love, love, love Narada and this salon. Complete and utter professionals and cosmetologist that truly love natural hair and what they do. My appointment took about 3 hours, but I was his only client there and he took his time and blessed me with some true hair jewels. I live in Florida and I will be returning in Dec. for a 6-month trim . I plan on commuting to them as long as they are in business. Thank you for rebuilding my confidence in cosmetologist :)

By far the best hair salon experience I’ve had. I was educated on the problems my hair had doing curly cuts for years. He took his time with my hair. Had a really great experience at the salon. I’m truly happy and grateful for this experience.

I originally left a positive review from earlier this year but I've since deleted it because I feel like I needed to come back in bring up a few things.
First of all, I want to say that the service is great. I won't deny that if you come to this location they will take care of you for sure.
My issue was with the pricing. I'm still very new to having locs. So at the time I wasn't familar with what would be considered typical pricing for a retwist. I know this business does things different, assessing the hair before giving a price on the service. Which is fine but that caused some confusion for me since there is no set pricing.
My first visit was with Narada I was told that it would be $50 per hour since I was a new client which I understood. He also redid my parting so the total came to be $350. I had no problem paying that because he was upfront with the pricing and I was happy to just get my hair done by someone who knew what they were doing. I've had a lot of bad experiences in the past.
My second visit was with Henny. This time around it was just a typical retwist. Since I didn't have the same stylist from before, I didn't get to ask about the new pricing. At the end of my service, I asked if that was the amount and she said yes. I don't know if they talk to each other about what they charge their clients or if they have some sort of system but since then, I've gone to a few other stylists. I feel was overcharged.
Yes, I could have directly asked what would the new pricing be since this is my second visit. Call me naive, whatever but I would expect the stylist to give me the correct pricing especially if I was going to be a recurring client.

I had my first visit today at the salon, and I was greeted by both stylists with warm and pleasant vibes. I have been searching for a truly all natural hair salon for over a year, so I was thrilled to find out that this salon was in my neighborhood. I had my consultation with Henny and she proceeded with my service. She was informative providing details as she completed each step. She gave me some good tips on maintaining my hair. I'm already looking forward to my next appointment. I'm also excited to see how my hair will begin to flourish under the care of Henny!

Love love love my haircut! I’ve been to many salons in my past and this is the first time I’ve felt so welcomed and left confident in my new look. Henny was so patience and gentle with my hair, and she did an amazing job cutting my hair and styling it too. The level of care left me in disbelief so much so I couldn’t stop smiling all day, Griyn Thumb Salon knows exactly what their doing. If only I lived in ATL, I would just let them take care of my hair religiously.

@AfrikanHairGod landed on my FYP/TikTok, after watching a few hair videos and listening to him speak on what I had experienced with “curly cuts” I knew I needed to book an appointment.
I decided to check them out on Instagram, @thegriynthumb, which just solidified my choice to book an appointment.
My experience with curly cuts was awful, spending $$$ on 20 min. cuts, they would trim off ½ an inch, snipping here and there leaving my hair with uneven lengths. It felt like an assembly line, no attention to detail and trimming everyone’s hair in the same shape.
Not everyone wants volume up top, round etc. but it seemed as though that was the standard shape/formula for most curly cut salons.
So grateful I was able to book an appointment with The Griynthumb salon as my hair needed a good amount to be cut off. The communication with the salon was easy, quick and clear.
The day of my appointment, I arrived and was happy to see that the salon was open and Henny was on time. Henny was respectful and thoroughly examined my hair, communicating what she noticed and what she recommended we do. I trusted her so much so that I caught myself napping in her chair, that’s never happened. The salon has such a relaxing atmosphere, no rushing, nothing unexpected. For once I felt comfortable in a salon, no comments for “having too much hair” or encountering a stylist who had no clue what to do with my hair.
Henny took her time and sent me on my way with healthier and better looking hair than I walked in with. If you have natural hair texture please book your appointment you wont regret it.
