Typical disability non-profit that throws up a picture of somebody in a wheelchair, using disabled folks as a prop to make money for their org but not actually helping. I have very limited time I can talk. First, they require you to call and will not talk via email so already excluding people with disabilities. I called yesterday and had someone spend 10 mins talking to me who seemed clueless about accessibility issues with seeking care. I shouldn't have to spend my time and energy educating people who supposedly provide help to the disabled. The advocate then said she suddenly had an emergency call to take and had to end the call with me. Again, all of this is difficult to work around with my disability which is why written communication would be preferable. Today, I got a call again from the advocate. It is excruciating to talk and the advocate again was saying she didn't know, seemed clueless, hemmed and hawed, said things weren't possible (when they likely are in my experience--just not to clueless people) etc. until I had to pretty much be rude to tell her to get off the call so I didn't have to hang up on her. Stop wasting disabled people's time; stop treating our time as valueless. Actually educate yourself on disabled issues if you present yourself as disabled advocates. Stop using us as money-making props.

My advocate Cindy Mitchell, has been heaven sent. Extremely competent, caring, and professional. I can't thank Georgia Advocacy enough for their assistance. Everyone there is pleasant and helpful. Kudos to them.

Every time i call this organization (which used to be Powerful and a strong Advocate Organization in the late 90's and early 2000's), all they do is let you leave someone a message and you NEVER hear from them.. this has happened to me over and over and over again... so don't even waste your time.. they no longer have the budget or staff to actually advocate for someone in a crisis
