Variety of old items under one roof in Dahlonega, GA

I was appalled at the “customer service” at this store. First, we were there promptly a little before opening and an employee saw that we were waiting (a couple of minutes early) and just shoved her head back down into her phone. I tried to not even be bothered by this because we were there before opening so that was okay. However, when she opened the door, there was no greeting or any pleasantries at all, and even after we engaged her in conversation she was like a lump, so we just felt like we were bothering her and we meandered past. Vendors have great booths and I selected a couple of items. Upon going to the check out, as we were being rang up (by a different girl that was friendly) the unfriendly girl addresses a lady sitting in a chair needing to rest. The small lady was fragile-looking and very elderly. This employee says to her “You’re not allowed to sit in those chairs.” She provided no options to the lady whatsoever; didn’t even tell her that there were benches outside (in 90+ degree heat). The elderly lady was apologetic and tried to get up but was struggling to stand, all within sight of the employee who did nothing to help. My boyfriend actually went and assisted the lady to her feet. When she tried to walk a few steps, she was very unsteady and she had bruises already on her leading me (in the medical field) to believe she was unwell or had a history of falls. Seeing her struggle, my boyfriend asked the employee if the lady may be able to sit in a chair that was behind the counter. The unhelpful employee rolled her eyes and then she relented eventually. You could tell she was annoyed that he had requested help for this elderly lady or that she had to give up her own chair to help this person. She proceeded to tell us that no one was allowed to sit on the furniture that was for sale. Understandably so, but is there no compassion for people any longer? Not to mention the fact there was no sign saying such! Granted, the lady should have had family that stayed with her or had her in a wheelchair due to her fragile state, but she didn’t and that was not the situation the “customer service” person found herself in. If my items had not been rang up already, I would have just had them put them up and walked away. I do not want to patronize with an establishment that employs such unhelpful, unfriendly, and uncaring people. To the employee with the greasy brown hair and yellow teeth: Do better! You’ll find yourself in need of compassion at some point in your life and it is then that I pray you find someone far better than yourself to give it to you!!!!
We will not return to the store over this. Vendors should know how the employees are treating folks.

Been a return customer for years, but because of poor service have decided to take a break from coming here. My mom and I gave it one more chance yesterday since we hadn't visited in a while. Same rude old lady who doesn't belong in customer service and doesn't know how to take a hint when there are dozens of bad reviews reflecting upon her business. Always has some snarky remark and gives off the impression that she would rather have her tonsils scraped out than help people.
Last year when we went, she stood behind the counter talking to a coworker the whole time in front of a long line of customers waiting patiently. Didn't acknowledge anyone standing in the line, just took all the time in the world moving slower than possible and continued talking to her coworker about something totally work-irrelevant like what they had for dinner or where they're going for the weekend.
Another time I went with a friend and the lady refused to sell an item because it had no price on it. Hello? You're the employee/owner - make an offer or deal with the customer who is willing to pay for it. If not that, call the vendor and find out about it, don't just flat out refuse without even trying first.
And then, if you want to pay with cash, she will snap that "there are signs everywhere" that "nobody in the entire Atlanta area" accepts cash - even though we walked right next door to Gateway Antiques where there is a sign right on the front of the door that says "We Graciously Accept Cash!"
Normally I give people the benefit of the doubt on the chance that maybe that person is just having a tough day or something, but this is an ongoing thing and for that reason I have to leave a one star review.

I wasn’t going to leave a review at first thinking it was just my personal experience and an off day for the owner/renter, but after reading all the other reviews on her, I will go ahead.Never been to Dahlonega, so my husband and I went for a three day weekend for Christmas, plus my birthday is the day after Christmas as well. At first I thought it was just an off day considering they just opened back up after Christmas(my birthday mind you). There was one very lovely lady that was very nice to us when we were there, and helped me get two necklaces out of a case and put them up front for me.When we were ready to check out, I stood over by the register waiting for the employee to notice and speak to me, and when she did, she asked “how can I help you” I said “we’re ready to check out please” Mind you, she acknowledged us first, and asked us, not the other way around. This woman then looks at me and says “well I gotta go clean up some water” then looks at her co-worker and says “I’m sorry! Our rug will get ruined! If I don’t!”Then all of the employees run off to the back, and leave a LINE of customers up front. At some point another lady came by and saw us all standing there, she was very nice and asked if we were ready to check out. I said yes hesitantly after being barked at like a dog. She runs off to go grab the owner who is shouting from the back of the store “I’m coming!!!!! I’m on my way!!!!!!” Very rude and obnoxiously. Honestly if it wasn’t for the two other women who were nice to me in the store, I would have just left my stuff and did not make a purchase. This woman also tried justifying her behavior by saying there is a leak in the roof, and it was getting all over a clients booth, and that the owner is even upping the rent on her.I would feel bad for this woman, but after reading that everyone else had a similar experience like me, and it was not around holiday speaks wonders.Never in my life have I been to an antique store with such a horrendous owner. My advice to you is, if you ever step foot in Dahlonega GA(which I wouldn’t, they are all like this here) stay clear of this store.

It’s hard to call it an antique when half of the items are new and come from Hobby Lobby!

I miss when antique stores had antiques and not just arts and crafts and junk that people want to get out of their house.Everything was literally from the 80s or later that I saw in here OR it was brand new arts and crafts that people were trying to sell. Not too impressed.
