This is a great place to go. Being in a military family, I really love the history of all the branches of service. This is by far one of the best Naval museums.

Very impressive and well-presented collection. I was there about two hours but could have spent another if I had carefully read all the displays. I didn't know what to expect of a naval museum this far from the sea or a major river, but the reason for the location is very clear when you visit it.

Attended a guest lecture here and was positively impressed by the quality of the exhibits, the knowledge of the staff, and the content of the lecture.
Be sure to check out the reconstructed USS Jackson, the scale of which is stunning, and take in views from the RiverWalk Trail that runs through museum property.
The museum isn't large - definitely doable in a few hours. A great way to spend an afternoon!

I was there before opening hours, but the huge cannons outside were awesome

Really cool setup! Didn't know anything about the civil navies before I went here. Very impressive and well organized.
We spent a few hours there. Enthusiastic people who want to read everything could spend the whole day there but 2-3 hours is probably an appropriate amount of time for most people.

This is an excellent museum, not government run but locally operated. This place has lots and lots of very interesting artifacts and some very knowledgeable workers who are able to answer most any question you may have.
I will admit I was a little shocked to be at a Naval museum in Columbus Ga (nowhere near the coast) but they explained the why and reasoning behind the location and it made great sense and was an interesting historical lesson in itself.

We took our 6th grade class for a field trip. We booked a tour through the museum and I am so glad we did!
We had a great tour guide and the director of education Brandon were super knowledgeable and kind. Both were great with the kids and were able to answer all questions the students had. They were super accommodating to our group and made us feel very welcome. We plan to make this an annual field trip for our school.

Worth the price of admission. Learn about something that isn't really taught much in any high school or college history class.
