Highly conflicted.... The car was good and the price was right. However the rental process was a total nightmare and from what I heard just by standing in line for hours just to get the car... this is the normal for them. It took us so long to get the car that I was late to the conference I had flown there to attend. Anyways.... If you have a few extra hours and do not mind standing in line, this is a good car rental

My experience here was mixed. The pickup experience was not that great. When I went to the Avis Preferred counter, the first reaction by the service representative was to send me to the regular counter for paperwork. But when I mentioned that I am a Avis Preferred member they processed my paperwork there. The general experience with the representative was not very welcoming. The drop-off was super quick and easy. The choice of vehicles was decent. I was initially charged for fuel, despite refueling right before dropping off. Customer service was quick to remove the charge though. They recommended showing the fuel receipt at drop-off, which was surprising.

Do not rent from Avis! Flew in from Denver with a reservation already made and the counter line and AVIS Preferred Service line moved at a snails pace. Honestly the longest wait I have had in years. Never again Avis.

If I could give a less than 1 rating I would! Horrible! Pay people a decent wage so you can hire the staff needed to service your customers!! Avis locations at ATL, Orange County CA, Philadelphia PA, Kentucky... all of them are so short handed you wait at least an hour to get to the counter! Ridiculous!!!

'Twas the morning before Christmas, and all through Hartsfield Jackson, not an Avis was stirring, I'm sorry Ms.Jackson. Literally, not a single employee present in spite of this line. I'm a preferred customer, I've been waiting two hours lol. This Avis used to be reasonable. You'd think that on Christmas Eve, one of the busiest travel days in the US, there would be full staffing.

I don't know why so many people have horrible reviews about every Avis location. I, knock on wood, have never really had a major issue. As an Avis Preferred member I often don't even deal with any of the employees. I have my car assigned to my upon landing and go straight to the designated spot. The hike from the terminal is a bit long but the plane train gets you there in a timely manner. I drove a Nissan Altima which was clean and drove well. The only complaint I have is upon receiving the car it had low windshield fluid notification and a notification that service was due. Every time I turned the car on I had to clear the notifications which was annoying. Returning the car was super easy. The gentleman who received the car was friendly and I had my receipt emailed to me within minutes. Another great rental.

I returned my car from a 2-day rental, returned it to an Avis employee who took my keys and checked in the car. But Avis did not acknowledge the return. Had screwed up info, implied I had the car longer and they were going to put additional charges on. When I called to find out what was the issue, was treated rudely by manager and hung up on. Still waiting a week later for charges to hit my Amex corporate card. Strongly recommend using another rental car agency in Atlanta.

We waited in line for over two hours to get to the desk and that's with reservations already made online and prepaid. They had 5 employees working the counter which is inadequate to the amount of people renting. We also had to wait another 15 minutes to get the actual car itself. Meanwhile Hertz next door didn't have a long line. If I would've known that it was going to waist over two hours of my time I would've went with a different rental place. Not worth the few bucks you "save". Go with a different car rental you'd be happy you did.

This was my first time ever renting a car so maybe it was beginners luck but this experience was amazing. I will note that there was no line at all, but I walked up to the counter and was in a car within 10 to 15 minutes. Very friendly staff. Super easy process

What a crappy checkout process Waited for 90 mins to get registered. After that I thought it's get the keys and GO. How wrong was I After getting registered, you go stand in another queue for 60 mins to just get the keys I have never seen this before in any location. WORST LOCATION EVER

When renting a car in September, there was about 100 angry people waiting that had not received their car at the airport. I was told that I needed my insurance submitted, which was not previously told to me when confirming this reservation weeks in advance. After that, I was told that they did not have a car for me. I was told I could wait for an hour for a smaller car size than what I booked. After waiting for an hour, I was finally sent to a parking spot where no vehicle was parked. I then had to wait in line once again, and finally was able to get a mid-sized version of what I booked. A few minutes after leaving, the car read " maintenance required." After calling Avis customer service and even speaking with a supervisor, I was told there was nothing they could do except return the vehicle and get a new one (which I did not believe since they barely had one available when I booked in advance.) I had the car checked out at an auto-shop. Thankfully there was nothing major wrong with the car, but "maintenance required" could mean anything. This was not a good experience and it seems like they promise people cars that are not available. The customer service I received after trying to report these problems was also not good as I was cut off by the supervisor and transferred to an emergency maintenance line. I do not recommend using Avis, at least the one at the ATL airport.

AVIS are thieves!! I prepaid for a car rental at ATL via Priceline one month prior to my trip. I returned the car to ATL on time as contracted. AVIS billed my credit card again on the day of my return. This is a 'self return' situation. I have sent them (AVIS) 5 emails with every requisite thing they have asked for. EVERYTHING! They just play d*** and ask for things I have already given them. They are thieves and they know they are thieves. STAY AWAY FROM AVIS. You have been warned!

On Sept 8, 2022 I traveled with family for the weekend of my daughters birthday to Atlanta. Our flight arrived after 11:30pm. It took us about an hour to arrive to the car rental pick up. With this being said, we traveled all day and were only looking to get into the car rental, and get to the hotel (4 min away), so that we can rest. Upon arriving the customer service rep (the paper work I have has the name "Smith" on it) took care of us seemed "friendly". As he is checking me in he tells me I needed to get coverage for the vehicle. I declined and said, in the past I have always used my own insurance. He then said, we don't accept 3rd party coverage. I said we are driving to the hotel and back here in two days. He insisted I had to get coverage so I did. I signed the papers just to get going. When I come back to return my vehicle, I bring it with a full tank of gas. The lady that checks us in asked me if it has a full tank, and I said yes. According to my paper work he also charged me $44 for gas. I told her I was never told anything and her reply was "that's what they usually do" but you could have declined it. Okay. She directed me to the front counter to get refunded for my $44. In the counter I asked the representative if they get commission for adding insurance to the vehicle and she said, YES. I then put my Big Girl Karen panties on and asked to speak to a manager. I explained the transaction that occurred when I was checking out the vehicle with Mr. smith and how unethical it is to con people into putting insurance on a vehicle for your own personal benefit! They told me to call the Avis customer service number and sent me on my way. So If you're in a need of a rental read, read, read because I am probably not the first or last that Mr. Smith has done this to. We had to wait for the car to be ready and it smelled like gas. We had to drive with the windows down and the dash board was disgusting. I will never rent another car from AVIS.

I usually do National at this airport but they were sold out. So I am in a really long Avis line and it's making everyone here really cranky. They make you go through multiple long lines. They don't have enough cars to put people through. They ask you to do a QR code at the beginning in the building to "save time" which just means you'll struggle balancing your luggage and drivers license and phone to enter everything, then the person at the desk asks for everything again and makes you approve all of your things on a little screen one at a time. At the exit the agent was friendly and lighthearted about how crazy the airport is and how busy they were, but there has to be an easier way to get people through here.
