When I called the number on the website and a lady picked up the phone saying it was Wright's automotive service. When I asked to clarify if this was Dave's Automotive Service, she got an attitude. I then asked if they did oil changes if I supplied my own oil and they said they would do it only if they supplied it. Way to make a first and last impression. Needless to say I didn't schedule any service for my truck.

Dave Dunn was always friendly, hilarious, off the cuff, and from the hip. He made me feel like a best friend every time I went to his shop.

I am new to Atlanta and have been praying for a good mechanic! I was referred to Dave's by a friend and it was the best experience I have ever had (including in my home town).Dave is the nicest guy you will ever meet. He is honest and forthcoming! He got my car in and out in 1 day because he knew I had a trip coming up. He found a problem that 3 other mechanics could not find! Then he fixed it and I haven't had a problem since! He also informed me of a couple other (smaller) issues with my car that needed to be taken care of and he respected my decision to wait on those problems. Dave told me that his first priority was to keep me safe on the road and he meant it! I have found a mechanic for life!!! He is never allowed to retire!!!! Thank you Dave!!!

One of the best car experiences I've had! My car decided to break down on the coldest day atlanta has seen in 20 years. At 6:05 pm I started calling shops to see where I could take my car. Most places were closed but if they weren't closed didn't have a nighttime drop box. Dave answered the phone after closing and was incredibly welcoming. He got my info, said I could drop it off any time and said he'd look at it first thing in the morning. It took AAA 3 1/2 to tow me but that's a whole other story. I don't recommend AAA customer service btw. I dropped the car off about 1030 pm. He had a parking lot open and an easily accessible drop box. He called me the next morning at 9 am already knowing the problem and how much it would cost to fix it. He explained to me the issue in terms I could understand which I appreciated since I don't have much car knowledge. He had it fixed that same day even though I told him I was out of town and couldn't pick it up for another day and a half. When I picked up my car it was out front and ready. His price was fair. He is just a great guy that does good business and I personally think that is a rare find these day. I'm only in Atlanta for a few months but if my car needs anything else, I'm going back to Dave's. I hope you will support his business too!

Finding a honest mechanic you can trust is difficult when moving to a new city. When my wife and I moved to Atlanta my wife’s car needed some work and luckily someone referred Dave’s Automotive Services. We were extremely pleased. I was out of town for work so she dropped off her car and Dave took her to the Chamblee Marta Station. She went to Lenox Mall and did some shopping. When her car was ready he called to let her know and she took the Marta back to the Chamblee Station and Dave picked her up.
Recently my truck was running so poorly, I thought I was going to get stranded. I called Dave and he said to bring it up or offered to have it towed for me if I didn’t think I could make it to his shop. I was able to make it and he diagnosed the problem. He told me what would it would cost and how long it would take. I didn’t get to go shopping, but was able to work in the lobby using the wireless internet while I waited.
When I settled up, it was exactly what he quoted me. He didn’t try to sell me additional services I didn’t need. I even asked if I needed brakes and after inspecting them, he told me they were fine. In past experiences, other mechanics always say yes’ “you need this and you need that, bla… bla ..bla..”
I would definitely recommend Dave’s Automotive Service. If you have automotive needs this is the company you want to call.
Pros: honest, affordable, complimentary wireless internet in the lobby, professional, friendly staff and prompt
Cons: not a one

Dave provides a great service to his customers. I was referred to him from a coworker. Of course his Southern Hospitality got me hooked right away. I was nervous at first, being that I am a female, but he was kind enough to explain what was wrong with my car and fixed it in reasonable time. He definitely is a man of his word, he never overcharges and won't try to sell you anything you DON'T need. That quality is hard to find in a mechanic. I refer everyone I can to Dave.

I was recently looking for a mechanic to do some work on my truck, knowing full well I had brake issues I was attempting to find something on the cheap side and someone I trust. The back-story is that I had a horrible experience at Tires Minus Skilled Mechanics. Anyways that's a different review. I called Dave on a Thursday afternoon and asked how late he is open till, he said "technically 6 but I'm usually here till 6:30 pm sometimes 7." I wanted to drop off my vehicle to get worked on the next day (Friday). I showed up at about 6:40pm and he was very amicable and straightforward, he said "I'll give you a ring tomorrow around 8 or 9" and sure enough he did and explained exactly what was wrong with my brakes. My truck was ready by noon the next day.Furthermore, he fixed the negligent work done by the crap national chain at no charge! The general goodwill and hospitality Dave has is unrivaled, and with just one trip so far, I know I'll be back with my next vehicle issue! The only strike against the place is because they aren't open on the weekends.

Dave's is a great, quick, and cost efficient place to get your car repaired. Dave answers the phone himself, is very friendly and straight foward with you. With my Explorer, the dealership told me I needed a new transmission and it would be three large. Dave kept the car for a night, ran all the tests, refreshed the transmission fluid and I got a bill for 10 bucks. When I went back to the dealership for an oil change a few months later they told me there were no problems with the transmission. A second time, Dave told me he could make a fix to my car that would take 10 minutes, but I should take it to the dealership, because they could do it for free as the work was part of a recall. The honesty is really appreciated, cause I know jack about cars. A mechanic could have told me the johnson rods need fixing and I would agree. Further, if something goes wrong with the work Dave guarantee's it. The best part is your car isn't going to be in the shop for 2 weeks. I mean I guess it could be if it was really screwed up, but I've never had my car stay there more than two days. Dave is a real stand up guy. I would recommend again and again.
