I have reviewed Prater Ford positively in the past, but I have to revise that review. But this is for the SERVICE DEPT only. Earlier this year, I paid almost $1500 for Prater to repair the sliding glass rear window in my F150 pickup. It worked initially. But about a month ago, it stopped working. I could not open it. Also, the rear window defroster stopped working. I was out of the state when this happened, but when I returned, I went by Prater and they took a look at the issue. They said I would need to bring it back for service. I made an appointment to bring it by for service, and Tuesday morning I delivered it for service. After they examined the issue, they found that there was a broken connector for the motorized opener, and this also prevented the back window defroster from working. The parts were ordered on Tuesday, but I had to leave the truck overnight. Wednesday, the parts arrived, but other vehicles were placed in the queue before mine. Also, they discovered that they needed to remove the back window and this meant they had to order a new window gasket. Today, I came to wait for my truck to be fixed. Before lunch they told me that they had ordered the part and it would be there "in a couple of hours." It is now after 3:00 PM, and I just told by the service manager that they were on their way to get the gasket in Cartersville. Why were they still on their way to get the part, when it was supposed to be ordered this morning? My truck STILL is not ready. This is the third day I have been without my vehicle, and there is no guarantee that I will have it before the end of the day. EDIT: By 5:30 PM it still was not finished. I was told I had to leave it for another night or bring it back to complete the work, since it would take "another couple of hours." I took my truck away because I need it. Not sure what I will do now. If I take it elsewhere I will have to pay to have the work completed... if they will even do it. DON'T TRUST PRATER FORD WITH SERVICE FOR YOUR VEHICLE. Period.

I worked with Chris in sales at Prater Ford and would highly recommend him! Easiest and quickest vehicle sale I have been involved in.

After sharing my concerns with a Prater associate I arrived for my appt only to be told that they weren't aware of the issues I described a day or two ago. So, I reschedule for a Friday. I call for an update and was told my F250 was hooked up to the diagnostic machine but my truck would not be looked at until Monday! As a full time RV'er this was unacceptable. I went to the dealership picked up my truck and I never heard anything from PRATER again. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE.

Took my son's 05 F-250 6.0 power stroke in for a recall. Explained to them the truck had modifications on it prior to our purchasing it and didn't know exactly what they were. I said multiple times that I did not want the recall done if it interfered with any modification. Was assured they would not do the work if it did. Picked the truck up after recall repair was done and they erased (stole) all the programs previously installed and reset the truck back to factory settings. The truck lost all its performance power and sound. They blamed us for not being more clear when describing modifications. They refused to make this right for my son who had just turned 16 and was so proud of his first truck. Eric Prater and Charles Prater are as dishonest as they come!

I've never had a better buying experience in my life! Professional kind sales staff. My rep was "Sarge", Ralph Ramos. Great guy. Johnny Hammonds was extremely helpful in getting the best financing for me. Mr Prater even came over and thanked me for being there and took time to talk to me about my experience. I am impressed and grateful! Thank you all - plus I love my Ford Escape!

The service department is not trustworthy! I took my vehicle there to be serviced and purchased "The Works" package. I specifically told them that my brakes were scrubbing and I needed them checked. They supposedly checked the brakes (which is included in this package) and told me they were 8mm thick and didn't need to be replaced. They also told me they drove it through the parking lot and and didn't hear the scrubbing (the metal on metal scrubbing sound was completely obvious). After paying for the service I picked up my vehicle and drove it straight to another mechanic in town who checked my brakes and said they were completely worn out to the metal. At this point I didn't know who to believe so I told them to change the pads and save them so I could see them. Sure enough they were completely worn out. I called Prater ford back and spoke with a "manager" who never gave me his name. He never once apologized and tried to change the subject off of the fact that they obviously didn't check them. He said he would "check with the techs and see about it". Don't take your car here, they obviously don't do the work that you are paying them for!

Keep away from the service department. Went there for an oil change and mysteriously one of my lug studs snapped off while my tires were rotated. Kind of strange considering that I rotate my tires regularly every 5-6 thousand miles. They attempted to charge me $75 for something they broke. They also claimed I had a lug stud on the same wheel that was stripped so that left only 3 lug nuts holding the wheel. I left, bought 2 new lug studs and nuts, and found a place that charged me $10.00 to replace the lug stud. They also were nice enough to check my entire vehicle for a striped lug stud and did not find it.

Took in for service and they broke my arm rest. Then told me they no longer sell them. Told me to go to the junk yard and they will pay $50 forwards it. They are hundreds of dollars. I paid $700 for tranny flush, oil and filter, cooler flush, fuel filter and balance and rotate. They did not check the differentials, transfer case, the oil filter was leaking when returned and did not even blow out the air filter or ask if I wanted it replaced. Had to tak it back to get remainder of fluids checked, under carriage greased, and oil cap replaced. Ask them to vmcheck the unit over and I had to point out things that needed to be done. 05 f250

We took our Escape in to have recall work done. They told us it would take at least a day to complete this recall. We called the next afternoon to check and were told it was finished. We were extremely surprised to find that they not only completed the recall work but washed/detailed the car and filled it with gas at no cost. Whoever detailed the car even folded our jackets on the back seat and placed the dog toys in a plastic bag! The staff is always very professional and polite.
