So I had to take my friend up to this place because they didn't process a loan completely when their family member passed away. They sent in a Death Certificate by email and then paid a specific amount almost 7-8 weeks later.Everything is documented, I've seen the emails. They then had their car towed 7 months later because the loan wasn't processed fully from the two contacted times earlier in the year.It was a HUGE inconvenience to me having to take them up there, I had doctors appointments and rescheduling everything, not to mention taking off work.Is this How They Treat their Customers up there? They had a person Die for Pete's sake, what a Heartless Company, very sad. I know where I'm not putting my Hard Earned Money.

I had to take my friend to the towing company that this credit union uses for them to retrieve a car that was Deemed Delinquent on Loan because they didn't fully process their loan when they had a family member Pass Away.Apparently contact was made TWICE and a Death Certificate was emailed to them and they made the payment that was requested by the credit union and they STILL DIDN'T FULLY PROCESS THE LOAN ON THE CAR.So 8 months later they towed it, just unbelievable. I've seen the emails and the Death Certificate sent on the first contact. How could this company be so irresponsible of their Fiduciary Responsibilities, there's Laws in place for these types of matters.Maybe certain people should look into these business practices here, it may be time to Crack Open the Files and Poke around to see Who Else this has happened too!!!

Seems like Death Certificates are not used properly at this business.I was inconvenienced by them when I had to take my friend to get Cash because they didn't do their Fiduciary Responsibilities Required by Law concerning a Death Certificate.Seems like a Legal Agency needs to look into their practices.

BOY, Get a Load of This One!!!Grab ya popcorn ? cause we're about to shake the tree of the Better Business Bureau and our family friend Clark Howard. He's gonna have a field day with this one. Here is your last chance to make it right. Do Not Under Estimate My Resolve over this Situation☝️It's $500, that may not be a lot to you but it is to me and truly we're just riding the principle train now, NOT GONNA HAPPEN!That $500 will be a drop in the bucket of what it will be worth to you, to just make it ALL GO AWAY and sweep this under the rug. I will even delete this review, it will Ultimately be YOUR choice. We have tried to resolve this issue at this branch in person where our family member died. Now they're refusing to pony up their mistake.Let's begin shall we with one critical question.Does someone normally deliver a person's Death Certificate when they pay a Reoccurring Bill?Like for instance, Bobby goes to his local phone store company to pay his monthly bill. Is he really bringing a Death Certificate with him every time that Bill becomes due??? ...Of course not, that's Absurd. WHY would he, his account is still active and he just provides his ID, Phone Number and just pays his Reoccurring Bill.So get this, our family member passed away, that's right, They DIED. No longer walking this earth. So naturally, we're handling all his business affairs and we come across this car loan from this credit union here in Buford, Ga.We contact them to say "Hey we're closing out the accounts, paying off any loans and whatever he owes that's associated with the company."The employee told us to email his Death Certificate and they gave us a particular amount owed on the car. So we did & gave our card information and sent payment for the Remaining Outstanding Bill for the Loan on the car.So here's the juicy part, still got your popcorn??Lady says they take a while to process electronic titles, the state is slow Yada Yada.So 8 months later we're still asking questions and waiting and Lo and Behold our car is towed from our driveway because they didn't Fully Process the loan with the Death Certificate we sent.Yup can you believe that Hot Garbage. On top of missing work and work pay, we had to go up to the branch to ask Hey, WTH is going on?? We made the payment AND emailed the Death Certificate. So turns out, THEY didn't give us the Total Owed for Pay Off, ....Oooooops!!!! ?That's a pretty big mistake there SCOOTER!!!Because we have Email Documentation that we were in fact in contact with the employee with a Death Certificate. So again, I ask you Who EVER provides a Death Certificate while paying a Reoccurring Bill, ...the answer is You Don't and the ONLY reason you are is because you're trying to Obtain Legal Access to an account and handle the debt owed.So we had to get off work that day, wait for access to our second car to go up there and pay the left over balance and wait ANOTHER day to pay off the $500 Towing Bill because we had to schedule an appointment to retrieve the car. They wouldn't even tell us if we had to take cash for the Towing company because this credit union only takes cash when it's classified delinquent. And YES, you need Cash ONLY for the stupid Towing company also that's in Lithonia GA when you go. Boy what an inconvenience at Every Turn!!!So now here we are, it's The Principle Train now and I'm driving Cho Chooooooo!!!You people think you're gonna treat customers and family members that way When They DIE??!!!!!Like I said, NOT GONNA HAPPEN, ...that $500 will be worth more than all the things that will be associated with this story and Yes it's a Story & its gonna be Preached from the Mountain Tops Baby!!!Whomever is reading this, you better climb the ladder and get this handled to help sweep it under the rug, .....cause if not ☝This Story is gonna be PLASTERED everywhere and that $500 will look like a cup of coffee compared to it.AGAIN, Don't Under Estimate My Resolve

Terrible service to say the least, Hannah at the front counter doesn't have a mind of her own and does everything her discriminatory manager says. Came to cash a check as done in the past at the same branch and my time was completepay wasted. Thanks Hannah

Terrible customer service. Went in 30 minutes before close to pick up 2 checks and both ladies that helped me ( Sharon and another lady) huffed and puffed like i walked in 2 minutes before closing and asking for a million things. I wasn’t even acknowledged by Sharon when I stepped into her office. I guess she was too busy eating her snack and pressing random buttons before she could speak to me. If you’re so miserable at your job maybe you should start looking for a new one.

4/5/23This credit union is terrible. Since January, 2023 I have had online bill payments returned to me for no reason, checks paid after a stop payment order resulting in a double payment for Gwinnett County Water and the inability to make a payment to AARP United Healthcare by electronic payment rather than by paper check. My check to All Around Town from my online bill payment is lost. I probably need a stop payment on that check and hope that it doesn’t get paid anyway, since I sent out a paper check myself. On 2/21 I went to the Buford branch. Met with Lisa Horianopoulos. Had 3-way call with Jessica Mooney, the Retail Area Director. Quite unproductive. Asked to speak with Mooney’s supervisor. She told me that Kelly Hilton would call me. Never heard from Kelly Hilton. On 2/23 I called Georgia’s Own. Asked to speak with someone in the corporate office. On hold for half an hour. I was told that the call would be transferred to VP Wesley. While on hold I received a call from Cedric Horton who works for Wesley. Reviewed all the problems. I was told that someone would call me back on Friday. I did not get a call on Friday. On 2/27 I received a call from Jessica Mooney. She basically told me that none of the problems were the fault of Georgia’s Own. The vendors returned the payments and the post office lost the check. On 2/28 I called Cedric Horton at 9:26 am. His message said that he was on the phone with another customer. I left a message asking him to call me back. He never called back.On 3/21 and on 3/23 I left messages for Shelley Mullett, VP of Member Advocacy. I never heard from him. You would think that if he is the VP of Member Advocacy and my message said that I was having problems he would call me back or have someone in his department call me to discuss the problems I was having.

Man. I’m a member. They haven’t really pushed any services heavily in the 10+ years I’ve been with them. They’ve always been relaxed and respectful. That has changed.I am getting an unbelievable amount of solicitations from them through email and mail about signing up for Liberty Mutual car insurance. The constant pushing is ridicules. They’re shoving this in our faces really hard. What is going on? I bet LM tossed a few mil to GOCU to promote it.I honestly do not care if Liberty Mutual saves me money. I will never sign up due to how excessive it has been advertised to members. Ugh.Can I sign up to not be harassed?

This review is about member services, but is also indicative of any branches I have visited. Every time I call I am on hold 30 minutes. I have a considerable amount of money in this bank, but when I needed a new debit card expedited, they wanted to charge me an extra $60, even though I had requested a card weeks before and they only sent my husband's card. I need checks about every two years, and when I requested new checks they wanted to charge me. When I questioned them further, the rep discovered they really were free, likely based on my accounts and balances. When we opened our accounts years ago, this credit union was the pinnacle of great customer service, but has been going down hill ever since. I've finally had enough and will be moving all of my accounts.

I went to the drivethru window to get a new issuance of my debit card. Provided the expired debit card and my drivers license. I was told that I had to come inside for verification regardless that the website states debit card issuance is part of drivethru services. My niece and I explained that I couldn’t walk due to a bad car accident and they still would not service me, said I had to come inside. Since I needed my debit card right away, we went around and parked. I had to put on a peg leg device, and use my walker to go inside and hand them the same expired card and drivers license as I provided at the window and they did not ask for anything else. So why did I have to go inside and risk falling when the website says debit card issuance is a drivethru service? Thanks Karen for your no customer service and thank God that I did not fall while in your facility.

Couldn't help me with a money order I purchased because they said it was "altered". Useless financial institution.

Horrible banking establishment to bank with. It seems like no one knows how to do their job. An example is the atm machine being down. You would think someone would check the atm machine when they come in to see if it's working right before opening up. Instead, you have workers who can't give you an answer to why your deposit did or did not go in. Last time I checked, when you do a withdrawal with your debit card and when a receipt is printed it gives you the exact amount of what's in your account whether it be checking or saving. So for someone, let alone a Manager tell you they have no freaking idea. That's absolutely no excuse what so ever! Do you job! Do better!!!!!
