1839 Blue Ridge Hwy, Blairsville“I've been a member for at least 3 years, thus far. Over my lifetime I've been a member of a lot of gyms: 4 closed down within months after joining (in a West Coast high population State). Further, I've quit at least 3 other gyms over the years. I have my favorite type of gym, and The GYM in Blairsville, GA is a favorite: perhaps THE favorite. What do I like about it? Well, for one thing it's not a Spa or Corporate style structure. No one is trying to nickel and dime me promoting skin creams, sauna treatments, fad diet plans, or the like. If I want Spa treatment, I'll go to an actual Spa where I know everyone has showered before they climb into the hot tub (and has received proper spa quality cleansing and maintenance), and where staff specializes in pampering. I love a gym that has an atmosphere of staff being here if I need it, but otherwise minding their own business. No air of desperation ? (lol) The equipment is sturdy and dependable, and it's fixed if it's broken. The folk who come here are common sense "get 'er done" people who aren't coming in to ogle or judge: they are here to get strong and healthy, and let off steam when they need to. Plus, I've found everyone friendly and fun to talk to. And again, here if I need them (like I am) and otherwise no nonsense, mind your own business. [Yes, there is Training available: I've worked with a Trainer here for nearly three years.] Not a flashy today fizzled and gone tomorrow kind of place. Can a gym be a friend? (speculation: Yeah, maybe it can be. It's got everything I need in a gym, plus I feel at home. Comfortable. Nothing superficial.) (Not to be confused by any other name that identifies as "Gym in Blairsville" lolol. The Name of the gym is actually "The Gym". Not Workout Anytime, not Union General Wellness, etc. which may pop up when "Gym in Blairsville is Googled" :-)) Oh... and one of the things I reallly love is that there are at LEAST seven stations at which one can do Squats at the Bar or Bench: some are dedicated and some are adaptable. There's a lot of equipment. Of note to me: there is a nice T-Bar machine, a fascinating special squat machine with a belt, a nice cable station, in addition to everything else, and I understand some other new equipment may be coming in I'll likely try. If you want to grow some muscle or strength, or just get allover healthy: this is the pace to do it!”
“Took my daughter to a birthday party here. It was fun and I actually had no idea there was a roller rink in that area! Only problem i had (which was not the establishments fault at all). But using the Maps GPS for directions to this place, it took me a few miles past it, and said my destination was on the right where there was no pkace to turn into and it was a pasture! Lol. We turned around stopped at a shop I saw that was open and asked fir directions. In the pouring rain we had just missed it by a few miles. I do suggest they get an updated sign outside and maybe more lights. Friendly owners, the floor was a little uneven in a few spots but it is an older roller rink. They have pictures of back in the day with people wearing poodle skirts etc skating. I love an establishment that has history and is still going strong. We wnment to the birthday party for my daughters friend and her sister. Once it was over we had to get going because they had another one lined up afterwards. So they stay busy! Now that we know it is there...we will be returning!”
