If you haven’t been , you should definitely check it out . I’m not a big history person , however I learned more in few hours then my 8th grade year . Honestly it’s great place , it’s expensive, they have student discounts as well . I took my 15 year old son, he was fascinated by all the displays, and it was a good way to get him off video games. Highly recommend

Great museum! Much larger than I expected. The locomotive and passenger car are worth it. What a sight that must have been when they were rolled into the building. And of course there's a large and very informative James Brown exhibit which includes several videos.

Truly an amazing display of objects associated with the history and growth of Augusta...the James Brown exhibit was truly a well put together tribute to an amazing performer who not only shared his talents with the world but kept his life roots strong within his own community of Augusta. I would recommend this to families trying to express the importance of equality and what we can accomplish as individualsI was a bit disappointed they didn't have much tourist merchandise such as t shirts or postcards...they only had buttons and magnets

Excellent museum with many displays! We attended the Night at the Museum event and it was wonderful! Food and beverages were abundant, and the portrayals of various historical figures were spot on!!! We "met" Dwight Eisenhower ,as portrayed by General Perry Smith, and many others such as Emily Tubman, Margaret Mitchell, etc. It was a memorable evening!!

Musty and peculiar. Nothing very interesting to see. The place could be a set for a dark fantasy film.

The days of the fetuses in jars.... That was back in the early 70's. The Augusta Museum is a regular place for my wife and me. Even though they don't display the Vlasic Kids anymore, I would highly recommend this museum.

James Brown ExhibitI decided to explore the best place to learn about our area... the museum. I've acquired a yearly membership to the Augusta museum so I can take my time and learn all things CSRA. I'll add the Aiken museum next year. I chose to start my learning adventure with The Godfather of Soul Mr.James Brown. I spent the entire afternoon learning about him. The curators and contributors did an excellent job representing this icon. While I would love to show you everything in this exhibit, I'd rather encourage you to go and explore it for yourself. I promise even the James Brown fan club president will learn something from this exhibit. As for me, I'm a bit less clueless to our history. My goal is to explore all the exhibits this year so I'll be ready to flex on my friends next time. Lol Group Suggestions: Membership: $30(individual) $55 (military family) $60 ( family)Members: freeAdult admission rate:$5. Seniors: $4.Children 6-18 admission rate: $3Children 5 and under admission rate: freeThey also host yearly events such as "All Aboard:The Museum Express", Gingerbread Village, Juneteenth Celebration, Night at the Museum and an Authentic Augusta Experience called Time Detectives. Solo Suggestions: This is a great place to spend an afternoon on a solo date. You'll learn so much and then treat yourself to dinner at one of the many nearby restaurants.
