Beautiful store with an exquisite collection of ribbon. Nick, the owner, is so patient and gracious and spent HOURS working with me to find the perfect ribbons for my project--even on days the shop was closed! Far beyond the call of duty. He has a great eye and a lovely business. Cannot recommend this shop more highly.

I purchased an embellishment for my wedding dress from NK. Lisa worked with me, and she was extremely helpful. She was very pleasant, informative, and provided great service. She told me that while the owner (Nicholas) generally only sold my particular embellishment by the 1/2 f yard or yard, once a customer purchased at least a yard ($105 and up), he would generally sell it in smaller lengths thereafter. I bought a full yard so we wouldn't have to cut it (and because that was all they had). She told me that there are no returns on cut products (also on a sign behind the register), but I could otherwise return within 7 days. Unfortunately, the embellishment was too short. I needed an add'l 4 inches. On the 7th day, I went to return (on my lunch break). When I arrived, a handwritten note on the door said, "Be back at 1:35." As is usually the case in such situations, Nicholas returned after the advertised time. He was nearly unapologetic, explaining only that he had to go to the bank to "get money." I quickly explained to him that I needed to return my piece and see if the store could order more. Without letting me finish my request, he immediately began trying to sell me other embellishments I could buy to make it longer. I told him I just needed a piece 4 inches longer. He refused to sell it to me, offering only another 1/2 yard (a full foot more than I needed). He exclaimed, "This is like a 2x4. You buy the whole thing, regardless of what you need." He also said, "I don't know where you're used to shopping, but this ain't Walmart." Eventually, he said, "You can't get Swarovski crystals like this anywhere else!" All in all, Nicholas doesn't realize that his customers have a choice in where they shop and thus sees little need to provide good service. There also seems to be a lack of clarity amongst employees about store policies. I suppose his place is fine for everyday, run-of-the-mill crafts/projects, but if it's a one-time, special occasion, save yourself the hassle and go elsewhere. Planning major events is stressful enough without the added layer of dealing with vendors like this.

Nicholas Kneil belongs in the garment district in NYC - it's amazing that this little gem is tucked away in the Atlanta suburbs. His ribbons are the best quality and his taste is unbeatable.

I found Nicholas Kniel from a Martha Stewart magazine, and let's just say the shop is a good thing. a very good thing. the store overflows from corner to corner with a well-edited mix of new and vintage trims in the whole color spectrum. Nicholas' taste is unerring and he truly is a merchant of marvel and peddler of dreams. He is the store to visit for any bridal/party/or editorial needs and it is definitely one of my happy places.

I love to support local artists and shops and try to any chance I get. That's why when I decided to make my own birdcage veil for my wedding, I was excited to find the Nicholas Kniel Fine Ribbons and Embellishments Store....just what I needed. There was a nice selection of ribbons, feathers, buttons, and flowers. But Nicholas himself was completely lacking social skills and customer service. To be the only customer in a shop the size of a bedroom and NOT be greeted was just odd. Then to have the store owner walk right past you and still say nothing is even worse. At no time did he ask what I was looking for or anything. At least ACT interested for goodness sakes. I mean, I did give him a $16 dollar sale...and I would venture to guess that I was among the few (if any other) customers for the day. I wish I hadn't bought the feathers that I purchased, because I was so turned off by the lack of customer service. I can't imagine it's an easy task to keep a small business alive in this economy, especially a store devoted to such particular items. And Nicholas will not be seeing my business again.

Shelves upon shelves of ribbon, feathers, buttons, trimmings, and inspiration. There's a vast array of colorful options, ranging from vintage to newly produced. You'll find anything and everything you could possibly need for bridal veils, fascinators, theatrical costumes, burlesque nipple coverage, hat-making, hair-adorning and gift wrapping. If you're even remotely crafty, you should stop in. There's ostrich feathers with your name on them.

This is a wonderful place to go if you are working with costuming, decor, mask, or other embelishing projects. He has the most beautiful ribbons and millinery embellishments I have ever seen. Feathers, buttons, flowers..the sky is the limit. I would love to take a class, but it doesn't look like any are offered right now. FYI: Nicholas Kniel is closed Sundays and Mondays. It is located in a gray shopping plaza off Hildebrand. His shop is upstairs on the left. Free parking in the shopping plaza lot.
