I've bought a couple of shirts here - the fabric is always so soft and after a couple of years of everyday wear, the colors haven't faded. But even better is that when I needed a size up on one of their shirts and they didn't have in stock at the store, they set up my order for me, free shipping included! The prices aren't cheap, but considered the service and quality you receive, it's definitely worth a look if you're at PCM.

Love the soft t-shirts and the fact they use recycled material. The clothing fits me well and it looks good. This store in particular always has a friendly staff.

Think of what you would wear walking on the bluffs of the northern California coast, waves smashing against the rocks, moist crisp air, and surfers in wetsuits below - this is Marine Layer. Nostalgic California "absurdly soft" clothes. I've slowly transformed most of my wardrobe into this brand without any regrets. Highest quality fabrics, overly generous return policy, and friendly and knowledgable staff. Rich and Val get an extra shout out. Conveniently located at Ponce City Market.

My Marine Layer clothes are consistently in my Favorites/Heavy Rotation clothing group. Style wise they are a little understated relative to my typical choices, but the clothes are so fantastic I end wearing them all the time - super comfortable and super cute. I have always had great experiences in the ATL store - much better than San Fran, their home base.

I think I first encountered Marine Layer through targeted online marketing on Facebook. Ok ok, say what you will about companies collecting information on me and then using it to spend... well... more money. In this instance it worked because I really just loved the design. The story goes: Guy meets girl. Girl throws away guy's old shirt. Guy loved old shirt because it was soft. Guy wonders, why can't all shirts be this soft from the start? I walked into the first Marine Layer store when I was out in Seattle. I was surprised to find this store here at Ponce City Market. Naturally I walked in and looked at the designs. To be quite honest, the prices here are steep but the design, fit and comfort are second to none. I can't get all my clothes here (because I'll be REAL poor) but I do occasionally get one or two items that I then treasure. Although most of the clothing they sell are manufactured in SF or LA, some of the products come from overseas. I also found out here if you donate some of your old clothes, you can get coupons to be used in the store. In fact, there is now a small section of clothing made from old clothes! pretty neat.... Although walking into the store is nice to be able to browse and try on clothes, now that I know what size fits me, I can do all my ordering online. Again, this is expensive but the clothing designs are top notch. Very much a west coast vibe going on here. If you haven't been yet, I suggest giving them a try. You might find out that you like them... a lot!

The store is nice and clean but the girl inside wasn't even very well informed about how the clothing is made or explain the "recycled material" statement. In my honest opinion, this is a ridiculously overpriced dumb-hipster targeted clothing that tries to sell with a "responsible" marketing idea that the material is supposedly "recycled" with God knows what procedures and "standards" and you would think "oh, if it's recycled it must be chick, cool and affordable" but an ugly shirt is $100 so... I would personally not recommend this store to anyone trying to buy sustainable and eco-friendly clothing, you are far better buying in a thrift store and washing stuff after purchase. This is just "the right bait" for "the right fish", it depends on you whether or this is you.

WONDERFUL t-shirts! So soft and comfortable. Their other clothes i.e. dressier tops for women, button-ups for men, etc. are also great - they are fun, different and stand out from a lot of other places. I want to go to the beach every time I go in. The staff have always been helpful as well.

Visited before a flight and find some cute clothes I can't find in Maine. I hit the sales rack, tried a few things on and ended up buying 2 items. I got a killer deal compared to the original prices, although I had to confirm the total and have the girl recalculate. She was super nice about it and turns out I got an even better deal. I love the reusable pink shopping bag my purchase came in. I'd never heard of the brand but would totally shop here.

One of my favs - think of Hurley for grownups with better materials. Their tees are staples in my wardrobe - well-constructed, incredibly comfortable. Now my whole family is turned onto them, including my two teens.
