The only reason I am giving two stars is because the front desk teller was nice. Jazlyn, I believe? Since I moved to Atlanta, cashing/depositing checks has been an issue. I have been to this SouthState and the one on Piedmont Road, and I had the same experience every time. They make you feel like you're lying/committing fraud. I understand ATL has become known for scamming and fraud, but not all customers are lying/being fraudulent. I sold my home in SC in July. I didn't receive the funds from the sale until August, and then the escrow check from my remaining funds from escrow post sell in September. I did not want to update my address in the SS system until I got everything squared away from the sale to prevent any issues/discrepancies. That makes sense, right? Even though I still have my SC license and it is not expired, it is not active. I don't believe you can have a driver's license active in two states. When I went to the GA DMV to update my driver's license, the personnel at the DMV drew a line on the back of my SC ID across the barcoded portion so anyone I tried to show it would know it was inactive since I have my GA one as active. My escrow check still had my SC address on it (as it should), and I was planning on updating it in the SS system once I received all the funds from the sale. I understand having to verify the customers' information, but telling the customer, "How do we know the other license isn't active?" How do we know she's telling the truth? " is very upsetting to me. To be clear, it was not Jazlyn who said that but one of the office personnel. A middle-aged-looking black woman. Ask your GA DMV. The only reason I keep the SC driver's license on me is because it is very hard/takes time to update your address on every single account you hold when moving. So I keep it on me for proof only when asked for any companies that do not have my updated address yet. Maybe the two people who helped me have never moved out of state, but I have several times. The escrow check was only around 700.00. It wasn't a huge amount. It's getting hard to tell where to bank as a black woman. I saw the issue online that the new female black doctor had at JP Morgan Chase trying to deposit her first check as a doctor and every time I try to deposit my check for a decent amount I have issues with SS. Being an urban place like Atlanta, I didn't think I would have these issues. I never felt feel this nervous to go into my SS bank in Aiken, Abbeville, and Greenwood SC. Actual towns known for racism.

I received a letter regarding a certificate of deposit that was expiring in a plain white envelope that could have easily been thrown away.It turns out my certificate of deposit was going to renew. The frustrating part is that they are currently offering over 4.5% interest for this certificate BUT they were trying to cheat me by slipping in a 2 year renewal at .10%.Shame on them for trying to pull a fast cheat on me.

I should not even give one star. I have had so much problem with this bank. My loan was with atlantic capital bank and southstate took over. They are giving me run around on my loan and not fully funding it. Not behind on my payment or nothing else is wrongful. The staff there is very unprofessional and do not care about there client. The CEO should do something. The staff are giving the client hard time and a run around. Need better staffing you should fire everyone. No use of spending money on payroll if they can not get any work done.

Worse bank ever. They changed my paperless preferences and started charging a monthly fee without my consent. They then wouldn’t let me close the account saying I need to go in the branch even with Covid and monkey pox rampant. Lastly, I deposited cash and it wasn’t available until the next day, and the bankers are rude and slow. This bank is still in the dark ages.

I have been calling and calling and have had no response back. I am in the middle of a refinance and can’t complete. I have a mortgage with SouthState bank and my payments that are being made are not being reported to my credit report accurately. I’m losing out on a better interest rate Because of this, I make all my payments on time and shouldn’t have this issue someone please contact me.

If I could give Center State Bank a zero I would. My Mom passed away and I needed to get her name off of the mortgage with my Dad and to set myself of as power of attorney for my Dad. I had the paperwork. I was instructed by their 800# to take my mom's death certificate to the local branch to get this taken care of. Once I arrived the local branch had no clue why I was sent there. I questioned that too considering it was in the middle of a pandemic. I was given shade all around. They took the DC and sent it into their "home office" I was called a couple of weeks later and told all was done, but they needed me to get a notarization of a document attesting to the fact the Power of Attorney was valid. Why did they not offer to do this for me? I had to find a Notary. I took the notarized document, the Power of Attorney to show them. They took copies and sent it to their "home office" again. I was told I would get a call back when this was done. I never got a call back. I just now called them after 4 weeks to see if all was complete. I was told by Michelle it was all complete. I asked why I did not get my call back as promised. She just apologized for not calling. I have wasted so much time on these people while dealing with the loss of my Mom. I hope no one ever opens an account with these people!

Not only did First landmark help me with lending and building my first business, but they also helped me with my mortgage needs for my home. The personal experience you get from them is much appreciated from Randy Harris all the way to the tellers I meet with weekly that are always a pleasure. Five stars!!!!!

I've been banking at the Midtown location since the bank opened. I have appreciated the small town feel and personal attention that I receive. Staff know my name, help me quickly and pleasantly when I need it and give me candy when I'm headed out the door! Competitive rates, free parking, close to MARTA. What more can you ask for in your friendly neighborhood bank?
