Building Blocks is absolutely amazing. I started looking for my son a daycare a few weeks ago. In that time I called multiple daycares and narrowed it down to just a few that passed my "phone interview." After I had thought I found a daycare, I visiting Building blocks. As soon as I walked in I was greeted with a smile by Ms Valerie and I was asked to sit down. She was in the middle of her lunch so I figured she would've just answered a few questions and I would've been on my way, but no. She pushed her lunch aside and gave me her full attention. She spent at least an hour giving me a tour, informing me of ways I could become more knowledgeable of not just her daycare, any daycare in Athens, and informed me of all the financial options available. She had so much knowledge of what kids need and how to deliver it successfully. She used terminology that I even hear in nursing school and I was beyond impressed. I knew that's where I wanted him to be. She spent the next week helping me get everything I needed together and got my baby started. He's never been in daycare so I was beyond nervous by by day two, he was already reaching for his teachers who ALWAYS greet me with a smile. We are now on day three and my son is already counting to 10 with no hesitation. I am so grateful for this school and the owner Ms. Valerie. They've had made an intimidating experience joyful.

If i could rate this facility with NO STARS I absolutely would ! This is a disgrace to call this place a daycare! The owner has no consideration for the children that attend nor the employees who work for her. The director(OWNER) is very unprofessional when handling business & dealing with parents. My child has been physically abused within the last 3 weeks of attending the school. The director has only notified my family of ONLY one incident. The other incident were found during bath time or when we were home winding down for the evening. The facility is A HIGH RISK for kids, and being harmed while in the facility. Her rules are bogus; She implemented a rule where we could not pick your child up between the hours of 3-4. This rule was only put in effect because she wouldn't allow us to walk through her building to the playground due to the uncleanliness. My children learned nothing out of the year they were there. When it was time for our renewal she told us we had to fill out the caps information but save it under a password she provided us with, so she could go back in to "FIX" things. I thought this was suspicious so i didn't allow her to have my information, It seem fishy to me.

I only gave this daycare a star bc otherwise I wouldn’t be able to write a review. Since my nephew has started at this daycare, for 7 months ago we’ve had multiple incidents with scratches & bite marks on him. I’ve noticed on 2 occasions where i had to notify the owner Val of the bruising. She was unaware as to what happen. The final straw was her texting me of an incident involving my nephew being clawed in the face. He was neglected while she claims 3 teachers where present in the class. This was the final straw. Where is the supervision of the teacher?! Overall I don’t feel some of the staff are trained properly let alone passing a background check. She has a high turn over of new staff ever other week. Not only that she’s mixing the 1 & 2 year olds together. I’m assuming bc she doesn’t have any staff to cover the 1 year old class room and her strict rules of parent cannot pick up their kids until after 4pm!! Lastly she has been asking the parents to re enroll the kids under some CAPS program. That we should only use a password she gives all the parents Incase she needs to go in and make changes to the application. I’m assuming somebody that will benefit her money wise. ALL PARENT BE AWARE. FREE daycare or not state should be aware.

The owner and staff are very caring and attentive to the children. My child has learned so much there. He comes home singing his days of the week, months of the year, and numbers through 20 in English and Spanish and he is only 3 years old. I would highly recommend this daycare.

The director sucks. She is a horrible person. Her staff was underpaid for all the work that they did. Once you entered the building the inside smells like pee. It's crazy because I actually attended building blocks as a child and my mother took me out very fast. Now I know why. Horrible. Don't ever let your child go here.

I would not send your children here. She pays her employees 7.25 an hour and charges them money for being late and forgetting a cup etc. I worked here briefly and was let go because I went to the Dr. I had strep throat and had a Dr note. So let go because I didn't come in that day. This woman treats her employees badly. STAY AWAY

My child didn't attend this school very long. The director was very rude and made it very uncomfortable to leave my child there. I walked in one morning on her yelling at one of her teachers. The poor girl had her head down as the director went on and on. I stood in the classroom doorway until she was finished. It seemed like we were the first to arrive that morning because there were no other kids in the room. I gave the teacher my baby, who apparently pooped in his diaper on his ride to the school. The teacher said (in her baby voice) "it looks like someone needs a diaper change". The director responded "give him back to her. She's the one that brought him here like that". The teacher gave me my son and I happily changed him into a new diaper. I never mind changing him but she was totally unprofessional and mean. It takes a lot for a new mom to build up the courage to drop her child off with strangers (I didn't know them personally) and I wanted to leave my baby in the best of care, with the best people who didn't mind changing diapers and attending to my child's needs. I kissed my son goodbye, went outside to my car, turned back around and got my baby.
