I wish I could give 6 stars for the customer service experience I had yesterday. It was late in the day on Labor Day and I had a flat bike tire that I needed fixed. Erik in the bike shop jumped into action, diagnosed the issue, explained what happened, and replaced my tube within a few minutes. All for a very reasonable price. While Erik worked on my tire, Liz answered several questions about the store’s sales, and told me about upcoming events. A great customer experience.

I took my bike in and they were super helpful, quick, and didn’t try to sell me on additional features to save me money. Great staff, highly recommend for bike tune ups! Also their membership is only $30 one time fee with great perks. So happy I went to them!

I went to REI today to get a bike tire fixed. Ryan helped me not only with the tire, but she worked on cleaning my chain for over 20 minutes. She didn't have to do this, but Ryan went above and beyond to make sure my bike was in good condition before I left. So refreshing to see such amazing customer service!! I wont use any other bike shop thanks to Ryan!!

I recently started mountain biking after purchasing a used bike that needed some repairs. A friend recommended this store, and I have to say, it's been the best customer service experience I've ever had. Everyone at the store was incredibly friendly and took the time to explain every component I needed and why. I highly recommend this shop to anyone needing work done on their mountain bike.

This location has gone down hill. The Alpharetta location has been my go to REI since it opened about 10 years ago. I'm a frequent customer and most of the employees know me. On a few occasions they've even jokingly offered me a job there.
I recently had to return a pair of shoes that I purchased about eight months ago because they caused pain under the arch. The employees that assisted with the transaction wanted to deny the return (despite being a member and having one year to return them) because I should have returned them sooner if they caused me pain. They were not worn daily and I couldn't track the cause of the pain until my recent yearly exam and my DR mentioned it could be my shoes. After some thought I concluded these were the cause. They also argued that they were "well worn". I would argue otherwise. The soles had almost no wear. The garage sale (resupply) section of the store has shoes that are much worse. How did those get returned?
I also noticed that the newer employees aren't as knowledgeable and give bad advise such as during a pack fitting that I came in for. Luckily I got a second opinion from an employee that has been there much longer.
REI used to be a store where I could talk to a green vest about an upcoming trip or new outdoor hobby and they could help because of their own experience. However, it seems that new employees are only required to take a quick ten minute computer course on a topic to be an "expert".

Disclaimer: Pets are not allowed and no military discount!
My significant other checked online before we went and was under the impression that pets were allowed because some websites state that they are allowed at this establishment.
As we were trying on one of the life vest to make sure it fit. One of the employees told us that only service animals were allowed. So, I went outside and my significant other payed for the vest.
My complaint about this interaction is that it could have been avoided with a simple sign decal on the door.

Ok, these guys know how to suck you into their world. The ponytails on every male employee was a bit cliche, but hey, I've been there.
They had everything we needed to prepare a hiker for her AT thru hike that she could not fly with. They took their time to educate us on the equipment, and their views of the needs of AT thru hikers.
They convinced our hiker to join for the membership. I am sure she will get a good return on her $30 one time fee for a lifetime membership.

As an REI member for 25+ years, we had a top notch customer service experience with REI associate, Drew, when shopping for new shoes. He exemplified professionalism, with his patient listening skills, while relating his expertise and technical knowledge of all their shoe products. Great dedication in representing REI’s brand of quality and service. My Son left the store, with a perfect fitting shoe, specifically suited for his work. Excellent service!
