I am so happy I took a chance. I was looking for Nigerian cuisine closer to my house and I found Kovafood Tavern. I called and ordered they said my Efo Riro with fish. I was told it would be ready in about 30 minutes. That was awesome because I normally drive way out like 40-50 minutes one way and to find something closer I was excited. When I picked it up it wasn't ready but I was happy to wait. I got my food and when I tell you when I got home I looked at the Efo Riro and immediately knew I had found a gem. The food was so delicious I tasted all of the seasonings and it was not spicy. Honestly its better then the other place I USE to go too LOL. I will be eating here at least once a week for sure. I will try other items on the menu next time.

Every time I come to Atlanta, I always head to Ike's Cafe for some good Nigerian food. This time, I was in and out because I needed to renew my passport and Kovafood Tavern was the closest to my hotel. I noticed that it was also relatively new in business. I was pretty hungry after the usual wahala and shenanigans at the consulate. It was traumatic, so I needed some good food clear my head and more importantly to fill my stomach. I love the setting and ambience, neat, well spaced and the music being played. The seats were not too sturdy considering my athletic frame. I am immediately greeted by this enthusiastic Kogi guy. I Forget his name but I will give him a 11/10 for his customer service. He was patient and answered every question I had. I started with Asun as appetizer which surprisingly came with fried rice as a side . The Asun was delicately peppered - loved it! My main meal was fufu (as in real yellow fufu) and Egusi. Pretty good, I find that most times the fufu quantity pales in relevance to the soup so make sure you order double portion of fufu or else you go just east correct Egusi soup. I mentioned it was a little salty to Joy and my Kogi friend and they took the admonition very well. Of course I had a to-go carry out food of jollof rice, which I am yet to taste at the time of writing this review. I had Zobo to drink as well and it was banging! In summary, I loved this place, the service and the food. I'm not sure I want to be back in this Alpharetta area, hopefully far away as possible from that consulate, but in Arnold Schwarzenegger's Terminator voice, "I'll be back!" because of this restaurant.

Saturday evening 3/25/23 I dined in with my husband and sisters and ordered. Plethora of things from the menu. We ran up a pretty high bill, but the food and service were great so it was worth it. My Nigerian husband sparked conversation with staff after we completed our meal and one of the ladies told him that American women don't appreciate Nigerian men. I don't speak Yoruba but I certainly understand it. That was strike one. My husband and I decided not to go back. I let it go and we left. I shouldn't have patronized the place a second time but I wanted that red snapper again! I figured that person wouldn't be there so I placed a to go order online the next day for over $160. The order was to be ready by 5:20 as per the confirmation I received. I arrived at 5:30. I was given one item. I explained what I had spent and that I had a large order. They brought out 1 more item. I again explained my large order and showed the confirmation of my order and payment. The woman working the counter had to make a phone call to someone to ask if I had in fact placed and paid for a much larger order. It was confirmed and I was told that it would be right out. Time kept passing and I kept asking how much longer. A family called came in to dine during this time but was never waited on so they left. I would have left had I not already paid. At 6:32 my final item was finally brought out. I thought that plantains came with one of the orders but it did not. I was told that it would be an extra charge. I asked if they could give it to me for the inconvenience and I was told that, that would be blackmail to which I responded, "No, it would be good customer service.". By this time another patron was waiting for his to go order and heard some of what had transpired. He agreed that I would get it free. Due to that, I did get the plantain free, but never an apology. The food was great, but due to the service and lack of professionalism and disorganization, we will never patronize this restaurant again. Don't recommend! Also, online I was charged a liquor tax when no alcohol was ordered. I asked about this but the hostess said she couldn't tell me why as she didn't know.

We visit this restaurant on November 1st, We called ahead, and inform them that it is a party of nine persons. When we got there we order appetizers, After half an hour we did not get our appetizer, so we said we will go ahead and oder our meals. The orders included seven red snappers with white rice and the African rice and then we had two different orders. The appetizers finally came out 40 minutes after, which was shrimp, they served us some little sweet donut balls which was on the house, After 30 minutes the waitress came out and said they don't have enough snappers, they only have three red snappers and the rest we can get in tilapia so we said OK. We waited 90 minutes later and we got two meals, 35 minutes later and then we had three meals two meals had rice, one meal had no rice we asked for the rice and we waited 40 minutes and then we got three more meals still no rice and one meal order was totally not completed, by this time we were very frustrated and they kept saying they're sorry ,they got us water and at the end of a stressful birthday dinner they charged us for the water and the donut balls which was on the house. I made this post today because I taught long and hard about this review, because this is someone this is someone's business. I have to post this Review, the service was horrible and I really couldn't give a good review on the food, saying if it was OK or not because I was so stressed about the whole situation I cannot remember how the food was, we were literally famish after driving one hour and 15 minutes to this restaurant. I hope that management review the customer services policy and how to treat customers this situation was horrible for a celebration.
