We were approved to adopt a sweet, but very anxious/nervous dog (submissive urination, fear of being held). The original foster was fantastic. Unfortunately, the dog's behavioral issues were more severe than we thought, and after we adopted and got the vet records, saw there was a history of biting. Talked with a vet and a specialist through my pet insurance and was told it could take a long time to undo those behaviors. We did what we thought was the selfless, right thing (less than a month in) by admitting we thought he deserved a family that could dedicate more time to working with him. That wasn't received well. We had a sick family member, and I gave it a few days to think it over before agreeing it was right to allow him the best chance with an adopter that could dedicate that time to him. Tearfully dropped off the pup an hour away at a new foster, leaving his crate and things we purchased for him to keep. Her words: "Don't worry, he'll forget about you as soon as you're gone." I'd stick to real estate and not any kind of role that requires empathy. In 18 years, I've adopted four dogs; one lost to cancer, the other to old age at 17. This was not my first rodeo. But to treat someone rudely for realizing a pet deserves more support is unkind, as were the thoughtless words of the other "foster". I would also allow potential adopters to view vet records first to make a more informed decision. I almost swore off adopting after this situation, but thankfully we found another rescue who was very up front with us and allowed us a few trial days to decide. We just celebrated our one year gotcha day anniversary. I think the application process is fine, but depending on the foster, your experience will vary. Some of them have no business interacting with people, and others are kind and truly dedicated. If the situation feels off, trust your instinct.

They'd rather keep a dog in a cage with fostered so they can collect money rather then let someone adopt these poor dogs.. this place is a racket

The foster people decide who can adopt the dog after meeting with numerous people/families. Pretty hard meeting and loving a dog, then being put through the waiting period while they meet with numerous others and then not being the family deemed the #1 best fit for the dog. We definitely won’t recommend or ever use this rescue again to adopt a dog. Pretty gut wrenching experience.

We found a little kitten that was in the middle of the roas and we tried to take it to this location. We followed Google maps and the location was in the middle of the road. We couldnt find the place. Unclear location instructions. They need to update the address

We found a cat in the middle of the road and we were going to bring the cat. But there is no building like pet rescue or something like that. I hope this place is not scam.

We adopted our sweet pup from Angels and had a great experience. Everyone we interacted with was personable and clearly looking out for the dog's best interest. Thanks for helping to find our new family member!

When someone (Betsy) recommends a dog getting ran over rather than taking a dog in!! Would never donate to them! What a horrible woman! What good are you if you’re not about rescuing the animals.. your only interest is taking in donations for your pockets. This poor baby needed help and you hope that she gets run over??? Then she wants to text message me because I ended the call. I hope that someone higher than her sees this and calls me soon because I will be taking this higher up. What an awful woman, hope the other “volunteers “ aren’t like her!!

Both of my cuties are from Angels Among Us and we couldn’t be more grateful. They are so dedicated to making the perfect matches, to ensuring all of their pets are fully vetted before going home, ensuring that their potential homes are safe and ready for them. I cannot thank this rescue enough for their hard work and dedication. We plan to rescue through them for as long as we can.

They are so much carrying about their responsibilities and understand the situation around. I really appreciated to Katie and her team. Good luck and God bless you all. Beautiful memories I wanna share with you.

We’ve completed several applications for dogs. Unfortunately we never heard back from Angels Among Us. After speaking to other African Americans I’ve learned that some of the volunteers simply ignore African Americans applications.

As someone in the rescue community, I have volunteered with this org and tried to Foster. Although I'm sure there's animals that they do help, there's plenty of animals that despite incredible foster and volunteer opportunities are overlooked and left to live their lives in shelters. Sadly this is the story from many volunteers that I know personally that no longer affiliate with this org after seeing the truth of what's going on. We know that there are dogs that have had multiple attempts for people to Foster and adopt and despite impeccable applications and home scenarios, they have still been denied over and over. My vet's office has even remarked that they are full of themselves. Sadly, this seems to be the new name for this company.

They took really good care of us. One of the Vets even allowed me to use her phone to call my mom on FaceTime because mine wouldn’t three way for whatever reason. They were extremely kind and gave me time to say goodbye. It seemed like a lot of younger women worked there and I have to say I appreciate the attention and professionalism. It feels so rare these days. Y’all are beautiful people!
