Albany Humane Society isn't in the buisness of selling dogs... but rather properly placing the right dog in a safe responsible loving home...

No new cats allowed, at full capacity. Referred me to Thomasville for spaying & neutering. No vet on site. This is terrible, the streets of Albany are over run with cats and no one is available and so how can we help them? These are strays and ferals, not my personal cats that I have indoors. Thanks a bunch AHS,

They over work staff and under pay them. The animals are not being taken good care of the way they should.

Completely useless. Two years ago, we had some strays and when I called, they were at capacity. This year my neighbor passed, and her cats are about to wind up as strays but again the shelter says they’re at capacity. Their best suggestion was to put them online. No compassion, no help, useless. That goes for Lee County and Mitchell County as well.

This place is the extra I completed the application for a dog and they called my landlord for what reason I do not know but later told me that I couldn't adopt. Calling my landlord was none of their business that was only necessary if I was adopting a child. And they wonder why buddy has been at the shelter for 770 days he will probably be there 770 more.

The ladies at the Humane Society were so nice and helpful. Our sweet puppy Charli picked us when she jumped in my car one day, we kept her over night and called the humane society to pick her up, she had a lot of spots that we later found out were fire ant bites! They kept her for 5 weeks treating her, then let us foster her as no one had claimed her. She's been a great addition and everyone there was kind and helpful!! Thank you ladies!!

My daughter use to “work”/volunteered there.. they said she was “HIRED” (quickly gave her a .25 Raise?) then after 2 weeks 40 + hours & when paychecks were handed out..they said..OH NO You are a “Volunteer” NO paycheck for you!! The “OWNER “ is kept a secret w/no way to get a hold of! This place is run on a shoe string budget & is super sketchy! I’m happy that some of you got to adopt that is when the doors are even open! Appointments are needed, long wait times, no call backs DO THEY EVEN WANT PPL To ADOPT These Precious Animals??? AHS Make yourselves available for adoptions.. GET YOUR ?Together AHS! It’s not the fault of the employeees it’s MANAGEMENT & The OWNER.. it’s not run by the city it PRIVATELY OWNED & (horribly) OPERATED!!!

The staff really have the best interest of the animals. They tend to there needs. They make great recommendations for the best animal for your needs. Went there for the first time in the mid 90s and then again today and the level of caring has only grown. If you want an animal come and see them. They are clean and well feed. Great people. I brought home Yura and she is a jem. Highly recommended
