My dog got attacked by another dog in the neighborhood and I couldn’t be more grateful to Dr Spencer and the team at Mermaid Vet Hospital. This was our first time seeing a vet in Vero. I really feel like I hit the jackpot on veterinarians. Everyone there is kind, caring, patient and positive. They are responsive. They are accommodating and they really genuinely care. What else would you want in a vet? Here’s a pic of my dog right after the attack. Two weeks later and we can’t even find the wound!!!

After over a year, I'm finally able to write a review about the tragic situation my boyfriend and his family were put through due to Dr. Peter Mosites's negligence. When faced with a difficult case he didn't have an answer for, he put an extremely sick cat who had not eaten or drank in days under general anesthesia for a skin biopsy without giving any fluids, effectively killing this young cat. There was a much simpler, cheaper, and immediate option for attempting to diagnose this issue that did not require anesthesia, which Dr. M refused to consider saying "it probably wouldn't work". After much research and discussion with other vets, it is very clear that the cheaper option had a very good chance at giving a diagnoses or at least a direction for treatment, and the cat NEVER should have been put under anesthesia for many reasons. A major one being hepatic lipidosis, as he was a chunky cat that had not been eating. Instead, the sweet, cuddly boy died on a surgery table feeling abandoned by his family after being sick for weeks and having gross and useless treatments applied to his skin daily that were prescribed during the first visit that made him unable to groom and broke his spirit. Euthanasia would have been a more humane option any day than that, yet the procedure was still the only thing offered. Dr. M showed no remorse for the death he caused and tried not to take any responsibility. Your pet's wellbeing can absolutely be compromised when a young ER vet is too stuck on expensive definitive diagnoses, so be careful, another vet could have saved this cat's life and I've painfully regretted not getting a second opinion every day since.

Dr. Arizona is a genius. Obviously she hails from the University of Florida. It goes without saying. ? Our Greyhound had to go under anesthesia and she knew exactly how to handle our Greyhound regarding their possible reactions to anesthesia. We are helicopter dog parents and she reassured us the whole way during this time. She also gave us perfect expert advice for our Great Dane. Dr. Arizona is smarter than Google and like our children always tell us “trust the Google.” Well, we trust Dr. Arizona.

Mermaid Veterinarian Hospital is an outstanding place to take your pet. After living in Newport Beach, California, and Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I’ve seen a few veterinarians to be able to tell you that Dr. Peter Mosites is exceptional. I was especially impressed with the time he took to help diagnose what was happening with our dog, Kody, our 52-pound golden doodle. He clearly explained the process we would be going through to find out what was going on with our pet. In a time when most doctors rush in and out of human patients' rooms, it was a pleasure to see that Dr. Mosites wasn't rushed on a tight schedule. He patiently listened. If you meet Jessica when you first walk in, you will fall in love with her; she’s compassionate about dogs, friendly, and a pleasure to talk with. Especially if you just moved here, don’t think twice and go to Mermaid Veterinarian Clinic.

I recently had a cat that fell very ill. The staff at Mermaid Vet made each decision a little bit easier to make. They were all very gentle and understanding. I would recommend Dr. Spencer to anyone looking for an extremely caring and thorough vet. Without her experience with my cats breed and willingness to do whatever it takes to get this crazy cat mom answers about her baby, I would probably still be at a loss with how to best move forward with his care. I am grateful to have found this Vet Hospital and won’t be looking for a new vet for a very long time.

We're new to Vero and decided to give this place a shot when we adopted a rescue. I have no complaints, when we have seen them they give us the time to discuss our concerns and observations and don't rush us out the door.

Switched to Mermaid Vet after a friend recommended them, first vet visit was quick and professional. I always appreciate when the staff know how to deal with cats and get the shots done quickly.

First time coming here since we are new to the area.. my dogs are my children and I’m very protective and Leary about the care they receive especially when dealing with a new clinic. However, my first time here was exceptional , the vet techs were friendly and kind. The dr , was very thorough, listened to every thing I said. Answered every question I had, gave me many diff options for treatment and was even very honest when telling me certain things weren’t necessary and I could just keep an eye on it, rather than making me believe I had to pay for and take care of it right away. I appreciate an honest Dr. shows a lot of integrity when the care of the animal is priority over the amount of money that can be made. Also want to add that there have been a few times in the past at diff veterinary clinics where my dog came back out and looked nervous and upset. Today when they brought him back in the room he was bouncing all around and happy as ever! And for that reason we will def be coming here from now on !! Thank you staff at the mermaid clinic! ??

I’ve been bringing my pets here for almost 2 years. I have 3 dogs & a cat, & I’ve also brought multiple foster dogs in. Although they may be a little more expensive than some other places, I feel it’s worth it to have a friendly & knowledgable staff I can trust. They seem to have my pets’ well-being as their priority over pushing a bunch of unnecessary & invasive things just to make more money. They are always willing to discuss things in detail, usually manage to get me scheduled quickly, & are very good to my animals.
