This is such an excellent learning experience for all ages! The Pelican Island Pontoon Boat trip was informative, fun and our tour guide Susan, taught us a great deal about the fragile eco system of the Indian River lagoon. We are now more eco-sensitive in our household habits and the 6-year old who accompanied us, has taken many of the things she learned on the trip, back to her school to share with her class. Kudos to all the volunteers who took time to show us Eastern Florida's flora and fauna, they were simply terrific and very, very helpful. I would heartily recommend a trip to the Environmental Learning Centre for young and old alike! Thank you for a wonderful day!

We were thrilled with the pontoon ride and Chris Brenner's outstanding abilities as a guide. We learned so much about the Treasure Coast's history as well as the native birds in the lagoon. And we saw so many species of birds, too. The ibises were flying in formation to Pelican Island - it was gorgeous to watch.

Capt Phil and a second Captain navigated us on a wonderful boat ride to Pelican Island with Melissa as their knowledgeable MC. It’s 2 hours long with tons of birds (binoculars provided) and interesting commentary on birds, The Lagoon, and the history of the first National Wildlife Preserve in the USA.And got to meet other folks on the boat. A great educational morning ride with free admission to the Environmental Learning Center. Highly Recommended.

We've done this two hour pontoon boat tour (9:30 am) before and this was by far the best experience we've had with them. Past experiences have been great but this one was .......extra great! Melissa was our guide and Phil was our captain along with a captain-in-training. Melissa was excellent as was Phil - both know their stuff and make it interesting. Both very personable and clearly passionate about conservation and in particular, the lagoon. That kind of enthusiasm shines through. We also were lucky with the other passengers - it was a fun group, for sure. The price is more than reasonable and there is much more to see at the ELC. Definitely worth a look/see. We'd like to get a group together to go out for a sunset cruise (bring your own cocktails!).

Great tour by Pontoon Boat. Saw so many birds, also manatee, dolphin, stingray, turtle and very impressed with the knowledge of the captain and tour volunteer. The facility is clean, well kept and the trails are interesting.

Overall a very nice place to walk around and learn a little about the lagoon and the ecosystem. Multiple walking paths include boardwalks and dirt or mulched paths with plenty of places to sit and contemplate nature. Signage is good both for directions and information. Saw a lot of mangrove tree crabs, an osprey perched by their nest, and walked smack into a few spider webs. Plenty of interactive opportunities for kids, including a touch tank (hours are restricted, check with front desk). Nice, if limited, gift shop and art exhibit as well. $10 admission for adults.

We asked if it was wheel chair accessible, and they said yes and they have one with fat tires to use. It was impossible to use!!! The aquarium is tiny also.20 bucks for 20 minutes in there.

My visit at ELC was great. My reason for visiting was for Walking Mediation with Elise. She was very informative and would to love to join more of her classes in the near future. ELC is a relaxing, calming, kid friendly place that I would recommend to friends and family to visit. I will be returning again.
