I wanted to share how great Trustco Bank is on home purchasing. Their rates and also as important, their minimal fees are the lowest around! If you are looking for a lender on new construction in particular and the builder is charging you a high rate and/or fee, reach out to Mark Cooper in the Venice, Fl office and he will surely take care of you! If you believe this, he can provide a 330 day rate lock on new construction that costs nothing to you to hold for that long of a period! Not heard of in this business! Mark is very responsive to emails and keeps you updated on your loan process. All documents can be uploaded to a secure portal. No emailing anything.
I can say, if I plan on purchasing again or refinancing in the future, Mark would be my first call!

My experience with Trustco Bank and Mark Cooper was great. Mark explained all areas of the mortgage process. He is personable and professional. This is my second experience working with Mark Cooper. He is very knowledgeable. Great customer service at this bank. Mark, Lisa and Jordan make a great team. I recommend Mark Cooper and Trustco Bank for all banking needs.

M. Cooper. The rudest manager.If telling a customer that they must not have common sense and not understand basic math (when I’m a year away from graduating with my Accounting Degree) is in the handbook of acceptable customer service—- thenM. Cooper is the man to see.If telling a customer that they cannot check the funds of a check because it’s a Saturday and no one else is open (yet I went to another branch and the manager there was able to check the funds just fine) —- then M. Cooper is the man to see.If complaining about another manager at another branch, so the customers in the bank can hear you; and then coming out of your office and taking the frustration out on the customer—- then M. Cooper is the man to see.If you would like to get yelled at, as a customer, when you leave the bank—- then M. Cooper is the man to see!!Shame on you. Maybe this is not the industry for you—- maybe any industry that deals with people… is not the right one for you.

For the past year that I've been communicating with Mark, he's been fantastic. I'm having issues with a builder, not Mark. I've been trying to get a loan application in, but the builder isn't doing what he should. Mark has been communicative, direct, knowledgeable and above and beyond supportive, even without me being his customer yet. He works like a dog. I was with him the other day for 2 hours as I watched a slew of emails coming through on his computer. He always makes the time and is sincere in helping people to the max. He knows his product very very well. Highly recommend.

We were customers at Trustco in Albany NY about 15 years ago and had a couple accounts with them. Due to a couple bad experiences with them we closed those accounts and went elsewhere. Fast forward and now in Venice Fl, as snowbirds, it seemed very convenient to open accounts with Trustco to have easy access to cash from both locations. We've had nothing but bad attitudes and NO access to any money, even after we see checks have cleared. The managers doesn't return calls and when my wife went in to speak to someone, they were incredibly rude and acted like she had no rights to the account even though we added her to the account the prior week. We showed them that in their own paperwork, we have rights to take a withdraw, but they won't even follow their own procedure and have basically taken our money hostage and have no apologetic attitude for our inconvenience. If you have another bank option..... Please for your own sake, consider anywhere but Trustco.....Venice or probably any of them

My experience with Mark Cooper should have 10 Stars.Supreme Mortgage Knowledge, excellent help every step of the way. Even when my credit report, had a real time mishap he knew how to maneuver. Our experience with Mark Cooper was exceptional. He is very professional. He explained the entire mortgage process thoroughly as he walked us through each step and gave us sound advice. He is very knowledgeable and is a tremendous asset to Trustco Bank. I referred a friend and she felt the same way as they closed on their property. I also want to give a shoutout to Helene who processed our wire transfer. All the staff in the Venice Branch should be commended for their professional and friendly attitudes.
