When my daughter first started going to Sonshine I would have given this daycare 5 stars. The teachers were phenomenal, the director knew the in’s and outs of my child, communicated with me throughout the week and really made me feel my child was loved and cared for. The benefits of this daycare is that it is small (very small) and my child would have one on one attention. That all changed when the new director took over. If you value communication do not send your child here. It’s like pulling teethe to get any communication from the director. Anything you ask will either not be answered or she will blame the board (the previous director never once mention the board so I was not aware they apparently make ALL the decisions). If you have a concern she will again blame the board and say her hands are tied. There was an instance where, as parents, we received a message she would deny a doctors note for a certain illness because the board told her to. I asked to get proof from the board and she flat out ignored my request. She makes things up as she goes. Her child goes to the daycare so all decisions are based around what is best for him and him alone. If you want to speak to her in person it’s very difficult because she works 7:30 - to 3ish (her hours posted say otherwise but I went months without seeing her - I drop my kid off at 715 and pick up at 530 - she’s never there). The turn over with the staff is insane, which is never a good sign especially with how small the school is. The only saving grace is Mrs Kaylee, she has been the one solid rock my kid had while she was there. I pulled my child because communication about the COVID closure was not great. She would go days without responding to questions. I understand the need for the closure. I do not understand the need for the lack of communication. Overall please don’t send your child here, the director is on a power trip and does not have the best interest of YOUR kid in mind. One last thing... I referred my sister in law to this school. She was treated so poorly by the director she opted not to send my niece here. It was absolutely embarrassing. She refused to communicate with her even though she was basically promised a spot and then it was taking away from her.
