They have a caged parrot facing a wall so it's in complete isolation. It's so sad and when I complained about this poor birds living situation the manager at Venice told me I offended her! I suggested moving the parrot to another location or contacting corporate to try and make better living environment for the birds. Most are there for months/years. This is animal abuse and I will never step foot in there again except to take video of the disgusting way they are keeping these poor animals and birds.

I went to Petco in venice for DHPP vaccine, but had a display of a very unprofessional behavior from the clinical staff. My dog was placed on the scale and was touched, suddenly on the back, to move sideways, because the dog got startled and growled, she was labeled aggressive, which was understandable. However, to get the shot, one staff member had her body on top of my dog to pin her down, and had her arm around my poor dog's neck, like on a wrestling style grip. Then, a nosel was placed..at that point, my small breed german rottie was crying, in a very low tone, still another person threw a towel over the poor dog's face! I was in choque to see so much unprofessional, untrained and uncaring behavior. In addition, I was charged more than my initial quote, vital signs were written but NEVER taken; and when I questioned about their aggressive approach to handle my dog, the person in charge said the dog was aggressive!! From having growled at the scale? Noone had a nice approach to my poor animal who was NEVER treated in such horrible fashion. If you still want to take your chances at that place, I wish you a better experience...

Excellent selection of quality pet food and lots of helpful, knowledgeable staff. I took my dog in and got a grooming. Great job and exactly the cut that I asked for.

The stylists there have no idea what they’re doing. I stood there for 20 minutes getting checked in, they asked me to leave the room because a customer walked in and wanted to “ask a question” in the middle of my check in, so because she interrupted me and I had to leave the room??? How does that make sense? She should wait her turn like I did! Then after another 15 minutes they told me they were unable to groom my dog because “her ears are warm”. Are you kidding me?! I’ve ha

I have been a Petco customer for many years. This location here in Venice must employ the dumbest and laziest employees ever. I took my dog to a nail trim appointment a few weeks ago and provided the necessary vaccination records, today I took him for another appointment and was told they need the records again. All other Petco locations, I visited in the past update the records in the computer. I do not carry these records on me after they should have been updated, so needless to say I canceled the appointment and will not use their grooming services again.

Just moved to the area and decided to try this Petco grooming salon normally go to Port Charlotte location. I decided to try this location for a simple face, feet, Fanny trim and nail trim and buffing. I told Hugo I would be walking around the store waiting for him to call or text me when he is finished. Finally Britney calls me and I walk to the grooming room and she bitches at me for not waiting right there in the room. I told her that my dog doesn't hold still if she can see me. Then she acted weird when I checked my dogs hair to see if it was trimmed under the tail area. Hugo had not even trimmed my dogs fanny so she was rude again about me wanting to step out of my dogs view. So I got to hear my dog cry and bark while I made sure the $30.00 job was actually done. I will say she did actually talk nicely to my dog to try and keep her calm. I paid before they were done with the job so they got the tip, I paid while I was waiting out of the grooming room. I won't do that again, I would never tip someone who bitches at me. I will definitely be driving to Port Charlotte for our next grooming appointment.

An eye opener for me yesterday. Our dog's leash broke so we went in search of another. We wanted a Flexi as we have had good luck in the past with this brand. After checking out a few stores, and not finding any, we wound up at Petco in Sarasota and there they were. We knew Flexi was a tad on the expensive side, but well worth it. So, we came home with a new leash and collar for Charlie. Then, for some reason, I went onto Petco's online site and to my amazement, there w

Way too long to groom a dog. The poor dog was there for 4 hours. Another client told me she had left her dog there last week for 4 1/2 hours and only managed to get a bath. She pulled him out today even though he wasn't done after 3 hours. Grooming is ok. Probably won't return.
