Lots of interesting shops, Mediterranean food, oooo one of the bakeries (can't remember the name sorry) has the MOST amazing almond cookies they were to die for seriously. Had a very nice time there.

This is a small shop specializing in natural sponges and shells right here in Tarpon Springs. It's in the Sponge Docks area which is full of restaurants and gift shops. Life is good in Tarpon Springs!

We saw a docked boat pull up w/sponges & watched them spray it down with water to clean them. The sponges vary in size from small to large. Additionally, one of the food courts has a 42 ft sponge boat on display in the middle amidst restaurants and shops to checkout - very cool! The boat was even used during World War II from the Navy as a rescue boat in the Gulf of Mexico. We even heard people in the community speaking Greek. We stopped at Hellas for Greek Coffee and Baklava - it was glorious to have strong A/C flowing in the restaurant. You can even park for free after you pass the roundabout - you just need to prepare yourself to parallel park. I also saw a lot of Parking available for $3-$5/day.

This was our best excursion we took on our recent vacation to Clearwater Beach. If I visit this area again I would definitely come back to Tarpon Springs for a day. We loved walking the streets and visiting all the shops, we felt like we were in a different country. This is a Greek village and you can feel their history as you travel down the streets. So many shops to visit...soap shops, sponge shops, souvenir shops, bakeries and restaurants. We tried Hellas bakery for coffee and dessert and loved our Greek pastries. Dimitris restaurant was highly recommended to us before we went on vacation and we had an amazing dinner there (one of our top meals of vacation week!). We also got sponges at Divers Supply and I'm enjoying washing my face every night with my nice soft sea sponge. Make sure you visit this village if you're visiting the area, you won't be disappointed!
