First Client rep was very friendly and competent but when I was transferred to the fixed income desk the guy kept asking what im trying to ask or do...and I proceeded to tell him specifically what my question was...clearly..still no answer and delayed responses like he knew it wasnt a "good call for him" so he didnt care. lot of pause and no feedback or advice at all...just killing time on the phone. and then proceeded to hangup as I did as well. awful, cant believe I rolled my families investments here...really

This company needs to get its act together. Trying to open an account is a major headache. Calling customer service can result in a needless trip to their branch office on Boy Scout Rd. I’ve been told one thing on the phone only to be told at the branch, no, it’s done this way. Headache. And their branch office doesn’t feel like a branch. Been their 3 or more times and have never gotten past the receptionist who I really think is the president, CEO and Chair of the company. Been invited to visit the office to see an account rep. but never got past the receptionist. Had a much better customer experience with Scottrade before it was absorbed by TD Ameritrade. Really upset with customer service. Looking for another broker.

Can I give them a Zero? Closed most branches. Email takes a day or day plus to respond and wait times on calls well over 30 minutes. Once you get to talk they are rude. Worst experiences with them last year and now again. Nothing changes. I am on hold 23 minutes now as I write this. Every time I call “they are currently experiencing longer than normal wait times” Trying desperately to transfer funds. They are very difficult to deal with. I am moving this account if I ever get an answer. Oh and if you send a complaint...good luck.Update.... I finally got a person after 40 minutes of phone holding today and they found someone who could help me. The 2 people were able to resolve my issues. Grateful to those employees.

I asked for a $3000.00 check per telephone conversation on 2-18-2020. The gentleman, I believe his name was Mitchell, stated that there would be 30% tax withheld, so the total withdrawal would be $3900. When I got to TD Ameritrade yesterday, the check was only $2730. I was very surprised and disappointed. The receptionist at the desk spoke with someone on the phone who stated the only way to get the $3000 was to put a stop payment on the check. I didn't want to go through the process of a stop payment, then reissuing a new check. I feel that more training is necessary to communicate with the client to see exactly how much money the client needs in hand after the distribution. I am not trying to get anyone in trouble. I just would like the amount that I need to be correct the next time.

Terrible experience. My wife works for a big four accounting firm which has many rules for how employees and their spouses invest due to independence concerns. They required that I roll-over a 401k from an employer I no longer work for. A rep from this TD office came into my wife's office and made a presentation claiming that they understood the independence rules required by her firm and would work with us to make sure those requirements were met. Through a broker I invested in an IRA plan after verifying that he understood the independence requirements. Within a few weeks the firm compliance department informed my wife that about 12 of the 15 mutual funds the broker invested in were restricted. I emailed the broker asking him to fix it, waited a couple of days and called, called again the next day. I never received another call or message from my broker. I found the number of the TD rep who did the presentation at my wife's firm, he stated that to ensure that my fund meets firm guidelines I would need to be enrolled in one of their programs that did daily monitoring, unfortunately it required a minimum account balance of $200,000. This was certainly never mentioned in their presentation or the documentation my wife brought home. He liquidated the mutual funds into a money market account and unhelpfully suggested that I just invest all of the money in a CD so that they wouldn't run into any more compliance issues. To sum up, I closed a 401k making about 15% and was eventually told by a financial advisor that I should invest in a CD making about 2%. I did a lot of research and invested in ETrade, so far so good.

Basically a scam. They will try to take as much from you as they can. They care nothing about helping you.
