Says you're supposed to call to set up a time to go there to stay every time I call I never get no response no reply I even leave a message and they still will not call you back. I guess that's the price you pay for being homeless and trying to get out of being homeless and getting a job

Extremely rude case managers answering phones. I would not recommend donating or sending a homeless dog to them.

Went there in January to get help with my electric bill. Filled out the paperwork, and they said, "No problem." Also told me to come back in Feb. I have tried calling 15+ times for February with no response. Today, March 6, 2014, I found out they never paid it in January. On top of that, they never let me know. Now, I am 3 months behind and have until the 14th to resolve my account.
This is very poor management on behalf of a place that is supposed to be helping people ?
UPDATE: They finally called back. Said one of the checks to TECO in January got lost. They paid another month for me, and TECO is working with me.

A roof over your head, if you are homeless; IF you get a bed. Veterans are treated well here--Female Vets get their own rooms & males can earn a single room, otherwise male veterans are 2 per room. If you are a civilian, you can get a bed in a large room...some are 5-6/per room!Meal times are set for you, the food leans heavily on starches & carbs, with little protein. Menus vary, as some food is donated. At capacity (153 people/beds). Women on 1 floor, men on other. Dedicated smoking area with benches & picnic tables. Most all of employees are friendly & will either help you (if you have an issue), or refer you to who CAN help you. Every person is assigned to a Case Manager, who will go over the expectations while you're here & go over the rules. Case Managers facilitate applying for help with getting housing vouchers--Veterans are in the HUD-VASH program, General population Section 8 program through the Up & Out program. They are here to help guide you thru the maze of bureaucracy, help with SNAP, finding all the resources you need + help you get whatever assistance you need.Is difficult to get in, but worth it once you are!If you are open to it, is a WONDERFUL alternative to being out on the street! When you're ready to make a change, come hereYou get out of it what you put into it...!

I called to see if a room was open and they said no and they gave a place that was an option but as I was saying I couldn't go back there they hung up

With immense dedication and a heart brimming with compassion, I spent two whole days tirelessly cooking to provide nourishment for the homeless. My gratitude knows no bounds for the Salvation Army of Tampa, which graciously opened its doors and allowed me to share my blessings with those in need. I aim to extend my support to women and children, as they hold a special place in my heart. Thank you once more to the Salvation Army and all who made this transformative experience possible.

If I could give no stars I would. This message is for the “major” who runs the facility. Ever since the Salvation Army on Florida Avenue reopened, the surrounding community has been suffering. My office is right across the street and packages are stolen when left by UPS or FedEx. Transient residents of the Salvation Army sit on the curb outside of the Salvation Army fence smoking cigarettes while looking for opportunities to vandalize, steal, or damage. The bald dark skin security guard is useless and tells concerned citizens and victims to call TPD so he doesn’t need to do his job.Although the Salvation Army may require their residents to keep their property clean, they care less about the damage and distress their residents are causing RIGHT OUTSIDE OF THEIR GATE. This appears to be a criminal organization ran by criminals for criminals.

I am doing this review out of respect for the individual I dropped off here a day ago.I am a Lyft/Uber driver, And yesterday I was tasked with bringing an individual who was in the hospital for 34 days by bringing them to the Salvation Army. It’s never my business to know anything about the individuals I drop off here and there regardless if a positive conversation is achieved. But yesterday, I was appalled at what I saw. I know this is probably at the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the workers who provide service at this facility. As I dropped this individual off, he was provided a walker and five bags of his belongings, including his medicine from his time in the hospital. As we arrived at the Salvation Army, we stopped at the door immediately while still trying to get away from the rain as my rider was briefly assessed to come inside. Immediately, due to it being a bed issue, he was not allowed entry. I get it, and that’s how beds work at the Salvation Army Specifically this location. But, it was the security guard who really left the bad taste in my mouth.I understand he was doing his job, as I was doing mine, but he was literally trying to tell me to put this handicapped individual from the hospital back in my vehicle and transport them back to either the hospital and or outside of the gates of the facility. For anyone who is a Lyft/Uber driver, or is familiar with rideshare, I already had another ride, so there was no allowing this man back into my vehicle, unfortunately, as I had another rider to tend to putting my job at risk.I just think it was a little heartless, that someone who would be in the hospital for over a month barely able to walk and move couldn’t even stand underneath the awning of the location just to avoid his items from being caught in the rain. The security guard didn’t even want me to put his items under the awning, he wanted me to put them literally outside on the curb IN THE RAIN. He talked about how it’s a liability issue for the location as they don’t want to be held responsible for ANYTHING.It took this man a good 7 to 8 minutes, just to comfortably get in my car.Again, I know this is the tip of the iceberg when it comes to what the Salvation Army deals with on a daily basis, but that was a little harsh and I figured I need to tell somebody about it.Hope everyone has a good day.
