I am unsure of how I can fully articulate how much Cigar City CF has changed my life for the better in so little of time, but I am going to give it a solid try:Upon moving to Tampa from Las Vegas, I scoped out multiple CrossFit establishments and decided on Cigar City. Unfortunately a month into my membership, I fell into severe fatigue/depression. The coaches were very understanding and compassionate regarding my situation- I started out heavily modifying class workouts and in their Mobility specialty class. Fast forward to half a year later, I attend a class nearly everyday (sometimes a specialty and a CF class) PLUS run programming via Coach Parks. At every other CF gym up until now, I was plagued with panic attacks due if I attended more than 2-3 classes per week for some unknown reason. To my surprise, that is just not the case here. When I moved back to Florida, I was looking for ways to be inspired and to heal. I honestly didn’t expect to find all that and more in a gym, but Cigar City is a gem. I always know I am going to laugh at least once while being in attendance- the humor and energy in this community is on point. This membership is one of the best gifts I have ever continuously given to myself. My internal and external growth in strength, technique, and wellness has been exponential- I highly recommend this place.Side note: I fall under the neurodivergent umbrella and am gender nonconforming. This gym is additionally a much appreciated safe space. :)

As both an athlete and employee at this gym, I might be bias, but the gym is top notch in my opinion. One of the few gyms I have been to with as little drama as there can possibly amongst a group of a couple hundred humans! In other words, the gym is big on COMMUNITY! The vibes are always high and positive. The coaching is of the highest quality. And the owner is actually present at the gym every damn day.As a coach at this gym, I am genuinely impressed. Not only is the pay good (yep we actually get paid well as coaches here!) but the work environment is honestly a great one. I know how it feels to dread work everyday and that is absolutely not the case here! Working at Cigar City, as a coach/personal trainer/in house physical therapist, is about as rewarding and low stress as it can be!The owner is not only an amazing business man but he has been a great mentor to me. My fellow co-workers/the other coaches are personable and optimistic and genuinely good at what they do. Long story short, it is simply easy and awesome to work here as well as be a part of this community.P.S: you're welcome Ben....can we get purple hoodies now?! :):)

Gotta start off by saying the owner is a business guru. The facility is ran like a well oiled machine. The price is right, and they offer several specialty classes that are included in the membership. The members are friendly, the coaches are patient and the faculty is pretty large. There’s a dedicated section for open gym and the poopers are clean. 10/10 recommend.AND they have an in-house physical therapist. She’s pretty hot, but she’ll choke you out. But also fix whatever issues you may be having. Be you a competitive athlete or just a soccer mom looking to get rid of back pain.

If you're looking for an excellent CrossFit gym, call them or stop by and talk to the staff. A year ago, when I moved to the area, my dog and I walked by. At that time, I was against joining any CrossFit gym. Now, a year later, I have joined, and I regret not walking in sooner to check out this gym. It's a fun place, and everyone I've met has been great. I would recommend this gym to beginners and full-on CrossFit enthusiasts. If you prefer an open gym, they have you covered. They offer open gym hours, and during most of the day, they have an open gym. Lastly, they also offer mixed martial arts, jiu-jitsu, and other combat sports, as well as other physical training programs. Sauna and cold plunge tubs will be available starting in December. Check them out; Cigar City CrossFit will not disappoint.

Headline: Cigar City CrossFit is ok. Is that a ringing endorsement? It is not. Is it the truth? You better believe it. I'm not here to blow smoke, I'm not here to be a hero, but I am here to give you the facts. So stick around and you might learn a thing or two about this gym, yourself, and potentially the price of rice in china, but I digress. A CrossFit gym's worth can be measured (in no particular order) by four factors; Programming, Community, Coaching, and Cash. Few understand this. But that's why I'm here, to open your eyes, to free your mind. Let's start with Programming. CCCF follows NCFit, an out-of-the-box cookie-cutter program provided by Jason Khalipa's CrossFit mega-affiliate of the same name. Does it matter that Jason is potentially the poorest-moving athlete to ever win the CrossFit Games? Potentially. But he still won so shut your mouth. Will this program send you to the CrossFit Games? Absolutely not. Will it leave you injured and broken because it's poorly thought out? Also no. NCFit is General Physical Preparedness programming 101. It's only as hard as you make it. Some might find it boring. Those people are mentally weak. Will you get fit if you follow this programming? Possibly. This is the Applebees of CrossFit programming. Is it gourmet? Not a chance. Is it food? Probably. Final score? 3/5. What about Coaching? Very much like the programming, CCCF's coaching is middle-of-the-road. The coaching is consistent in that they are held to a certain standard regarding how the classes are run and how they conduct themselves, which is refreshing when most CrossFit coaches read the workout, start the clock, and then sit on their phones for 55 minutes. At CCCF, the coaches are engaged and active. Are they the best coaches in the world? To most beginner athletes, probably. To the advanced athlete they might feel almost too structured. Personally I think the way they run the warm-ups is a complete waste of time, but I also don't warm up because lions don't stretch before they pounce. Final Score? 3.5/5. Community is where CCCF shines. The members are what makes this gym worth going to. There's never a dull moment, and jokes are the coin of the realm. Are they at others expense? You better believe it. But let's be honest, the world needs more of that these days. Even if you're a au-natural blue haired vegan you'll still have a great time. You will also definitely get made fun of, but let's be real, you deserve it. Every class starts with an ice-breaking question of the day that really gets the juices flowing. No topic is out of bounds, and there's always one person that will give an answer that cracks everyone up. Unless you don't have a sense of humor. In that case go to CrossFit Big Guava (just don't use the bathrooms). Final Score? 6/5. Last but not least, there's Cash. No one talks about this when it comes to CrossFit, but the one thing people forget is that a CrossFit gym is a business, that needs to make more money than it spends or else it will close. If you'd like to learn more about this concept, I recommend "Basic Economics" by Thomas Sowell. There's even an edition with little pictures for people who went to the University of Tampa (Go Bulls). CCCF actually operates like a functioning business. They have punch card options, membership rates, apparel, and equipment that is - mostly - well kept. The gym is clean, there's plenty of parking, and the homeless people in Ybor rarely make it more than a few steps in the door before someone kicks them out. Unfortunately most CrossFit gyms operate at either a loss or a razor thin margin. At least CCCF uses quick books. Final Score? 4/5. In closing, I'll leave you with this thought. Tampa doesn't really have a ton of exceptional CrossFit gyms. Westchase is easily the best, but after that, the only other truly viable gym is CCCF. Doesn't mean it's the greatest thing since slice bread, but it does mean it's bette

Use to own a box for many years. Met Ben Bun in 2016 when he was opening CCCF. I am not surprised that after 7 years, this place is thriving. After closing my place down due to covid, decided to find a place to call home. Ben runs a very tight ship. Place is clean, organized, and has equipment out the…well, you know. Have feeling I’ll be here for a long time.
