The tour was very informative and presented well although it was difficult understanding our first guide who wore a mask. The home and it's history was interesting, we enjoyed the presentation that followed in the lower area. Thank you for preservation and wish this home continued success. We will be back when cooler weather arrives to visit the garden area as well. This is a free museum (donations welcomed). Well worth looking into for many special events throughout the year.

Beautiful home on scenic grounds — great for a walk and sit. The museum itself is free and very digestible. A thorough visit can easily be accomplished in 20-30 minutes. The museum is especially fascinating for locals or those who know Tallahassee well; it puts many faces to names and provides interesting (and sometimes disturbing) historical context to the land and city. For out-of-towners a visit could serve as merely an interesting and pretty visit to a historic antebellum home. I highly recommend strolling the grounds after. They have a dog path too! Great for a quick, free, local afternoon trip.

Absolute must if you're in Tallahassee! Very interesting and rich history of a true American. The museum chronicles the life and legacy of Mr. John Gilmore Riley and some history of the time. The guides are very knowledgeable and patient, and the tour goes at your pace. So you can spend as little or as much time as you'd like. Photography is allowed and encouraged, and the guides answer all your questions to the best of their abilities. I thoroughly enjoyed my visit and would recommend this museum to anyone!

The entire display was beautiful, it was my first visit. The downside of my visit was an older White female worker approaching a middle-aged Black lady regarding something she drinking from a cup. The worker said there were signs suggesting no eating or drinking. I only noticed one sign as I was exiting my upstairs tour headed downstairs at the elevator. The tourist was very polite. The worker had no finesse, but said the right words. My suggestion is that there should be larger signs and more visible ones.

I went here like 3 weeks ago and this place was stunning! Lots of plants and the tour guide was very sweet. She tells more about the house and the past owners.

It's a beautiful home built in the 1800's. Great Florida history and best of all it's free to see!

A cool place to connect to local history, enjoy some trees and air conditioning, and see some stuff you might not learn about in a history class.A friend and I were visiting town and walked past the sign by the road, curious about the place. We were surprised and impressed, staff are so friendly and knowledgeable and the whole museum and grounds were quiet and clean. The QR codes outside that pull up more info about the place are useful- not too much to read but enough to be informative. The basement portion is interesting and important- don’t skip out on that while you’re here. Patricia gave us a tour and was awesome! Since we were walking around town, she even gave us hand written directions to other places we were interested in and food recommendations. Really went above and beyond and it was so appreciated! You can tell a lot of work and passion went into restoring and interpreting the building, its history, who lived there, and who built it. Makes you wonder about all the other old places around and what happens when we forget about them.

Beautiful preserved house, lovely grounds to walk around with our dogs. The staff were so knowledgable and friendly, we got an awesome free tour of the house and learned all about the history of the owners and the area. Very worth visiting!

When you're done touring the fascinating Museum inside, take the time to visit the Beautiful Trees throughout the premises. Well kept and impeccably clean properly. The volunteers were all genuinely friendly and joyful. Highly recommended.

Love visiting this place. It was the home of former Florida Governor Leroy Collins. It’s so interesting to see how different cultural shifts (emancipation, desegregation) affected the house’s history. If you enjoy history and culture, this place is such a great! And the tour guides are incredibly knowledgeable

Great little gem in the middle of Tallahassee, just north of downtown. The house is beautifully restored and full of local Florida history. Definitely a must see for museums. The gardens at the Grove are equally well kept and make for a peaceful walk.
