Desk guy seemed disinterested. I feel like I was overcharged. All blank doors cannot be the same price. I have bought dozens of decking boards from them in the past. . Won't go back. I reckon they just serve big customers.

Good pricing and always friendly, but I have been disappointed by a lack of inventory during some of my busiest days, which I don't know what to attribute to. Soemtimes it's feast or famine.

I would go literally anywhere else. First of all, they let our Framer charge whatever he felt like to our account without confirming with us which resulted in hundreds of dollars in materials we didn't order or need be delivered to our house and left there for months, then picked them up randomly and we have yet to see a refund 7 months later. They gave us no options for our windows, told us this was all that was available and it would take 6 weeks to custom order (everything we needed was standard sized), meanwhile, everything we needed was in stock at Home Depot for the same prices. We got a defective sliding glass door that won't lock properly, when I wanted french doors to begin with, and they LOST all of our screens. So here we are in the nice weather season with no screens, I spoke to them 3 months ago and was told that they ordered new screens for us that would be delivered to our home in 2-3 weeks and we have neither seen these screens, nor have we heard back from them. Horrible customer service, response time, and just plain refusal to help us. Please, save yourself the trouble and go somewhere else.

I had a bizarre shopping experience at Capital City Lumber today. I just needed a couple of boards to repair a picnic table, and I decided to stop in on my way home from work. I knew they kept shorter hours than the big hardware chains, so I got on the Internet and found a Capital City Lumber website that showed they were open until 5:30. Well, I pulled in their parking lot at 4:59 and workers were pulling down the loading bay doors like they were closing. I figured, ok, they might have changed their hours and didn’t update their website. It wouldn’t be the first time a person has found inaccurate info on a website. Anyway, I went ahead and walked up to the front door which was still open and walked in at straight up 5:00pm. When I got inside I saw the guys at the counter were already shutting things down. When they saw me walking in, they looked up at the clock then looked back at me with what I can only describe as unhappy looks. I went ahead up to the counter and told the guys what I needed, then they looked up at the clock again and then looked at each other like they were trying to decide whether to throw me out or help me. At that point I told them I had just looked at their website and it said they were open until 5:30. There were three people at the counter and they all tried to tell me they don’t have a website. I told them, well I Googled them and I found a website. Then one of them tells me there is another place in North Carolina called Capital City Lumber, and people frequently get them mixed up. I had seen that other NC location on the search list and I know that wasn’t the one I looked at. I didn’t bother to argue the point because they did decide to go ahead and sell me the wood I needed, although they were clearly not happy about it. As soon as I got home, I got on the computer and looked up the website again to prove to myself that I wasn’t losing my mind. There it was plain as day, “2501 Lonnbladh Road, Tallahassee, FL.” It had photos of the store, a map showing the correct location and listed the hours as 7-5:30. It was a fully functioning website with tabs to products and services and a thorough list of contact info including phone numbers and email for various managers and sales reps, etc. How can these guys not know that their own company has a website? If it was not their official website, someone went to great lengths to spoof one. I posted a screenshot of the website that supposedly doesn’t exist to prove that it does. To make a long story short, the people there were not very friendly. I get it, most people don’t like it when a customer shows up right at quitting time when they are ready to go home. Yes, they did go ahead and sell me what I came in for, but I think they could have handled it better in the interest of customer relations. Especially considering the simplicity of what I needed and the amount of money I was spending for what amounted to only about 4 ½ minutes of their time. I like shopping at local businesses because the people are generally more friendly and personable, but that is not what I got here. The whole experience was just weird.

Looked them up online and everything shows them open until 530pm. I arrived at the store to find they close at 5pm. It would be great if the updated their hours online as well so not to waste time.

Had to call the order in, pull up to the front and wait to talk to a person. Which is fine. Then they loaded up most of my stuff. A little confusing if you don't know how there system works. But friendly people and good service.

I couldn't talk so I was at their mercy...hard to communicate. Anyway, they don't let you select the wood. They bring it to you and everything is rush rush. While it wasn't something that I would pick out, especially for almost $25.00 per board, I though I could get by. My first mistake. I got 12' length but cut it at 6' for easier hauling. My second mistake. By the time I got home to Havana, four of the boards were wrapped and crowned. The picture is a little hard to see all the problem. For twenty five years I've had good experience shopping at Capital City Lumber but not this time. I really don't know if I'll be going back, especially not any time soon. Tried twice to upload photos.....no luck.....would have made it easier to see the problem.
