We just bought a home in April. I had concerns that the insurance companies wouldn't insure us or that they would drop us due to the age of the roof (16 years old). I was told on multiple occasions that State Farm would insure the home despite the age of the roof. I had a wind mitigation and 4-point inspection done. The 4-point stated that the roof still has 9-10 years of life left.
If the roof was going to be an issue, I was going to negotiate and have the seller pay towards a roof replacement. State Farm reiterated that the roof wasn't going to be an issue and therefore I didn't negotiate for the seller to put money towards a new one.
A month and a half into home ownership, I get a cancellation notice from State Farm. The roof is considered "obsolete" and therefore will be cancelling my policy. Now, I don't have any options to get the seller to pay for a new roof and I'm stuck having to replace the entirety out of my own pocket.
I'm unable to go to Citizens (home is valued above 700k) or another provider because its hurricane season and underwriters don't want to touch a house with a 15-16 year old roof despite the inspection stating it has 9-10 years of life left.
I am beyond frustrated with State Farm. They lied to me. They have cost me 25-30k towards a new roof. If they were upfront about not insuring me, I probably would have not bought the home I bought unless the seller was wiling to put money towards the roof.
Why would they approve me for insurance only to cancel me within 60 days? It doesn't make sense. The big kicker, the home has been insured by State Farm since 2021. I pretty much took ownership of the existing policy. You can't tell me that they don't do annual or quarterly reviews on policies. If they were going to cancel, it should have been done within the past couple of years.
I would stay far away from this company. I don't trust them. If you have a home with a roof over 15 years, good luck on finding insurance. I wouldn't buy a house with an older roof in FL with the way these Insurance companies are forcing replacements or not providing coverage at all.

The reason why 3 of our family members had our Insurance with StateFarm was because of Franklin. He is wonderful, Kind and Professional on every level. He helped me through a difficult time when I had a Accident. He walked me through the entire process and I was very happy with the Customer Service at all levels because of Franklin. Thank you so much April Britton Whittemore ?

Franklin has been the most Professional and Kind Agent I've had the pleasure to deal with. I was involved in a bad car accident, he was there through all of it, so kind thank you so much.

So hard to get someone on the phone at this location. When the policy changes for various reasons, you can't get answers as to why the rate is increased. Why do I pay more monthly with a new car as well as "policy changes" that add more fees to the increased rate? Call the toll-free number, much better service.State Farm itself is decent when dealing with accidents. That's my extra star.

Worst customer service from State Farm Agent!I've been with State Farm since June of 2010 and have had four agents due to relocations. I relocated to Florida and had to establish with an agent in Florida. I picked Ann Werning in 2021.During the almost 2 years with Ann's office, phone calls and emails were rarely returned, auto payment was not properly set up, and as of 11/1/2022, I was hung up on by Brianna. I have tried to reach someone with experience pertaining to an issue and I kept receiving the run around from Brianna every time I called since 10/22/22. As of 11/1/22, I have changed agents.

I just wanted to take a moment and recognize Chrissy Gonzalez from your office. Chrissy went above and beyond when answering my questions about my bill this morning. She was patient and took her time to check both systems in order to locate a payment that I made on my policy. I was very grateful that she was so patient with my questions and answered every one with tact and professionalism. Thank you Chrissy!
