Our favorite place to hike in Sanford. Beautiful scenery and it’s a great trail for beginners and hikers of all ages
Picnic area: First come first serve basis, covered areas and a beautiful open field under native pine trees

Everything about this trail was great. The bathrooms before the hike were clean. The trails are well maintained, easily marked, and quiet. There was so much parking available and I had a great time.Restrooms: Good, they are not porta-potties, but they aren’t regular bathrooms. It’s a building but the toilet has no water and there’s no sink, just hand sanitizer.

Lots of birds, even the Florida Shrub Jay with many woodpeckers etc. Really worth the visit.

Nice maintained trail! Went in a rainy day and found some friends. I didn’t get a picture, but there’s a shelter for the through hikers.Restrooms: There’s an outhouse at the trailhead

The camp site was a little farther than anticipated but was well worth the walk. Very private and peaceful with a picnic bench, camp grill, and spot for the fire. Maybe not for first time campers, but a wonderful experience.

The first half of the trail through the woods is really nice. Then you'll come to the camp shelter where you'll have the option to turn a left. This will take you to the sandy road way/ horse trail which is kind of boring to walk down but it takes you back to the parking lot. On the map, this is starting at the orange trail that turns into the yellow dotted trail. The shelter is at the top right where the yellow dotted trail intersects with the white trail. You can also go right and follow the white trail which I am guessing is more scenic than the way I took and loops you back to the orange path where you started.
The intersecting paths are not as well marked as other parks.
There is a short and pretty trail that loops around the pond.
Overall, both the horse road and pond trail together took about 1.5 hours.

This place is terrible. Swampy smelling funk all around. Mosquito infested. Hot and humid. Nasty people hanging around. No facilities. Long drive for nothing. Stay away unless you care deeply about the natural beauty of unspoiled, native Central Florida. Only the most hard-core conservationally-and-environmentally-minded folks should venture out here.
