Disappointing Experience with Youth Services Head Librarian Jill
:
My daughter and I have been regular attendees of the library classes at Seminole Public Library, and we've always enjoyed our visits. However, our recent encounter with the head librarian, Jill, left us feeling unwelcome and disappointed.
Due to our tardiness, we arrived late to a class, which was understandably full. No issue there; our fault entirely. Instead, we decided to spend some time in the children's section, a usual highlight of our visits. However, we were approached by Jill, who insisted that my daughter, who is learning to walk, put on socks and shoes. When I inquired about this rule, Jill was unable to provide a satisfactory explanation or show us where this rule was posted.
Despite knowing that it's beneficial for babies to learn to walk barefoot, Jill insisted on enforcing this arbitrary rule. Her demeanor was unwelcoming and bordered on a power trip, making us feel uncomfortable in a public space funded by our tax dollars.
If you're considering visiting Seminole Public Library, I would advise against it, especially if you encounter Jill. The experience would undoubtedly be improved if someone like Ms. Gabby were in charge instead.

With the Interlibrary loan system you can get virtually any book you want within the county. It’s nice especially if you live close to this one. The staff upstairs is very nice.

Security guards, ala Barney Fife, inept beyond belief. Should have been put out to pasture years ago. No other libraries have security people bumbling around the main floor. The Help Desk upstairs is ridiculous. Fat woman named Cathy is USELESS! Same for the library staff. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!

A excellent resource for our community. Along with their partnership with St.Petersburg College, their media selections, books, CD's, DVD's and PC's are awesome. Also the staff at both the library and the college have always provided excellent service.

After going to Largo library and not getting help with an ebook app issue, I then went to the Seminole library. Completely different experience. The librarian at Seminole took his time to figure out what had gone wrong and fixed the problem completely.

THIS library has taken a step back, to how libraries used to be. It'll still have the modern addition but... they've cleverly sperated the two. On the ground floor it's FOCUSED on books (exceptions for when you check out), while the second floor is for those that need a computer ?️ to do work/browsing really quick. The library has adapted

I am wondering if the goal of this library is to hire the dumbest help guest counter people imaginable! Also, the fat woman upstairs at the HELP DESK, I think her name is Cathy, always looks very annoyed whenever she has to heave her bulk up out of the chair....
