Mavis Tire and Brakes is far more than a tire and brakes store as the sign says. Moving to Sarasota I was looking for a total service facility that that could address my auto needs. I needed help removing license plates to replace with Florida plates. They went above and beyond the call to remove the old plates and install the new plates. I had a terrific experience and I will definitely use them for all my future auto needs from engine repair to electrical and to tires and brake repair.

Horrible now, horrible in the past. Only the name changed….. told me, “if we were to do an alignment, it wouldn’t be worth it”. So I say, “well then don’t do anything at this point.” But then proceeds to tell me, they already did the alignment. *After I refused buying any products from them!!!! Played major games with me. Tire warranty they said I have to file directly with manufacturer. “You have to prove you had alignment in 12 months.” I did and can prove. So they don’t stand behind their products or service they sell. Lied straight to my face. Bad business. Drove to JSN Auto and they helped me! Just like they did in July when they did alignment, and they generously provided me a copy of my proof so I can file my claim with manufacturer. Don’t go to Mavis. I’ll be filing other complaints with state & DBPR. For the record, I DID paid Mavis for the alignment I didn’t want after being told it would ineffective. I DID purchase 2 tires with JSN & they’re helping me with claim. That’s good business. Should’ve went there in the first place! (I forgot where I went in July.) NOT MAVIS ? But that is where I purchased the tires just 2 months ago. MAVIS ?

After going to many different shops and being lied to and taking advantage of because of my lack of knowledge on car repair went to company after company and the majority of the mechanics to look at it pointed out many different things some things that the car didn't even need nor ever have on it just so that they could boost the amount of money and commission that they would make off of the car. I was given many different estimates, anywhere from $2500 up to a little more then 3 Grand. With all my frustration I will apologize as I entered Mavis I was going on a rampage when a kind gentleman by the name of Brandon very politely put a smile on my face with his opinion and all honesty quoted me $850. A friend of mine actually referred me I wish I would have come here first definitely a 10 out of 10 on honesty, understanding and customer care, and a good laugh. FIVE STARS!!!

While the technicians did a good job, an unpleasant encounter with, Brandon, the manager will prevent me from doing business there in the future. I had a flat tire on a Saturday afternoon. I called Mavis and spoke to Gary, a pleasant young man who took my information andsaid to come on in, that he would start a ticket on me. When I showed up, a customer was berating Brandon about something, and when the guy left, I told Brandon that I had spoken to Gary. Brandon became curt to the point of rudeness, telling me that they were busy and that I shouldn’t have been told to come in. I ended up leaving the car. The next morning, Chris, another pleasant young man, called to tell me the tire needed to be replaced. I agreed, and an hour or so later, Chris called to say the car was ready. As I said, the work was fine, but there are other tire stores where customers aren’t treated as an inconvenience by the manager.

This shop almost killed me. I brought my car in because it was making a weird screeching noise and I wanted to get my brakes checked before we evacuated to the other side of the state for the hurricane. At first the put my car up and came back to us and told us that nothing was wrong with my car and we were good to go. I asked them if they were sure because the noise was concerning and my breaks has been squeaking a little bit only then did they test drive it, put it up on the lift and tell me I needed new brakes, rotors, and brake pads (convenient) after I paid $960 to have everything replaced we were assured we would be okay to drive safely to the other side of the state. While driving on the other side of the state the car was still making the weird noise but they said it was fine so we assumed it was probably just something rubbing. While driving thank god slowly across a bridge my ball joint on my front right tire cracked and the right front cv axel snapped sending me and my car sliding and my tire sideways. When towed to a shop they told us it was obvious what was wrong and they should not have missed it. $1300 later We had them write a report and take pictures of the broken parts. I usually don’t write reviews but I could have easily been going 70mph on the highway when this happened and it could have been so much worse I have tried reaching out to management via email and have heard nothing.

I came to repair my tire, they charged me $32.14 and left me the same tire. They are incompetent and the service is very bad. I do not recommend them.
