Renter beware! I was not told the car they were giving me was a 100% electric vehicle. I didn’t realize it until I got to my destination and it was too late. Now I understand the look of hesitation the agent gave me when handing me the keys. NOT ONE WORD ABOUT BEING ALL EV!! Extremely disappointed!! Doesn’t even deserve 1 star. I will warn everyone I know moving forward!

Thifty is commiting fraud. Returned my car at 9 pm on a Wednesday and my receipt came the next morning saying I returned it at 4 AM the following day with an extra 4 hour charge. I have receipts to prove when I put gas in the car to return the rental.

I rented a car from Thrifty car rental at SRQ on October 23. I had issue with getting a refund. The rental agent Ed went above and beyond to assist me in resolving the issue with the Rental Agreement and getting a refund I have never met a more friendly, competent and civil person in the rental car business. I hope Thrifty knows what a special and extraordinary employee they have in Ed

Update: While they were quick to respond to this review, it has been 2 weeks and no one has reached out to resolve my complaint. They were having computer problems and had to rebook me. Instead of helping me as fast as he could the agent kept me at the counter trying to hard sell me on up charges as I tried desperately to contain the cranky toddle I was traveling with. I just kept saying no to things and finally got keys and new contract after almost 45 excruciating minutes. It was not until a week latter when I was home that I saw he had add on a $175 insurance I had not wanted, when I called customer service they said it was my fault for not having read my contract and disputed the insurance addition before I left the counter...

The guys who helped me was nice, but he rushed me and somehow convinced me to upgrade to a more expensive vehicle.

Their phone system just hung up on me when I pressed 0. I was not able to speak to a customer service representative to ask them how to drop off a vehicle after hours.

You don't even deserve one star. I live close to the airport and have a convention 3 hours away and tried renting a car from them. Never again. Nowhere on the website does it state that you can't rent a car with a debit card if you're a local. When my bf went to get our car we already paid for on a debit card, he was told we can't get the car we already paid for because he's a local resident. When asked why, he was told "because too many people don't return them." Which is both illegal and flat out discrimination. Either put it on your website or change your policy. Nobody said this either when going in person to talk to someone, who was also absolutely no help. Your employees are incompetent. Thanks for making this experience the worst one I've ever had.

Dollar ar SRQ, had a great, smooth, quick and easy transaction. The young man at the counter was kind and had a friendly smile. Our SUV was prepaid so things went smoothly. We got into a new VW Tiguan which was spotless. Upon return, our guy at the return center was awesome. Super nice guy, shared some laughs and I told him I was going to leave a great review. I just wish I knew his name. All in all, zero hiccups with Dollar at Sarasota-Bradenton Airport from check in to return. If we go back next year for another vacation, I wouldn't hesitate to use them. Thanks also for supporting our Veterans. All in all, we were lucky to have only one person in front of us, so we didn't wait long, but the line behind us grew, and the young man was all by himself. I'd suggest ensuring a minimum of 3 customer care workers to not put all the workload and stress under one guy.

Be very careful with these guys. Told clerk we didn't need damage waiver or premium roadside, he added it anyway, for a 7 day rental. called dollar 800 number within 24 hours and they said to wait until car return to call billing. called billing after returning and they said they can't remove charges b/c we agreed to them. I was never shown the charges or anything while at the counter, only a POS signature pad to sign. (UPDATE 09/05/23 Still 1-star. someone from Hertz/Thrifty customer service emailed me in May 2023 promising a refund for the overages, over $400. However this was hollow as they promised refund in 6-8 weeks and still nothing. no refund, no response. )

I pre-registered online and had to do it again in person. Waited outside for 30 minutes and Noone was there to greet me,then I was told to go into a Honda by someone who felt bad I was waiting there. Turns out it was the wrong car and was told to leave that vehicle and guess what I left behind in the trunk.,my luggage Noone to call no response and there was my name phone number etc on the luggage and yet nobody thought to call. Nice and I had to drive 50mi back to airport and there was my suitcase.

Ed and Jemal at Dollar is extremely helpful. There are some staff who ignore clients’ request and talk in a rude way. However,I will still go to Dollar or Herz again because of Ed and Jemal’s kindness.

BEWARE! Thrifty will quietly add insurance to your rental agreement without telling you, hurriedly get you to sign the agreement without mentioning it, and then bill you $700 for insurance you did not ask for in the first place. We disputed the charge and they stated that since we signed it, there was nothing they would do. We explained to them to check our history with them of NEVER purchasing additional insurance as our personal car insurance company covers rental vehicles. They then offered us only half of the money they DEFRAUDED us out of back, which we accepted as better than nothing. THEN they ghosted us for 2 days until we continued to threaten legal action. At this point we are forwarding our complaint on to the Better Business BureauTHRIFTY/HERTZ you may have got us one time, but you will NEVER have our business again!

Dollar (related to Thrifty, they share country)Under staffed and lack training. LONG SLOW MOVING line. Other rental counters cleared their lines already. Check out the picture.

Rip off! Beware. They quoted me one price of $252. The day I rented he said they didn't have that car and it would cost me an additional $80. Then the contract had $481 when I looked at it. Then I looked at my credit card and they charged me $681 pending!

I reserved, and paid, for a car for my husband in July. Stated no insurance. My husband arrived at the airport around midnight, exhausted, picked up the vehicle, and told the individual at the counter that his wife made the reservation and that he was just picking up keys. The individual at the counter proceeded to take a credit card from him (why??) and then had him sign a paper. My husband just assumed it was the regular rental agreement. It wasn't. It was an insurance form, and unbeknownst to him he signed up for insurance. Since he had given them his credit card, I never found out until the trip was over and the credit card was charged. Thrifty says that my husband signed a contract, so too bad. Fair enough, however Thrifty's employee also acted fraudulently and they need to account for their employee's actions. $700US we now have to pay for an unneeded expense that I, as the person who reserved the car, DID NOT request. I WILL NEVER deal with Thrifty again. They are thieves.
