I am so sick and tired of dealing with the incompetent staff here. They did AWESOME the first time I brought my boy in, and then every time after that has been a s*** show. Brought him in for a dental cleaning and made it clear he could not have bupromorphine because he has adverse reactions to it (excessive vomiting) and when I got home and saw it on the invoice and called they explained that it was the only pain med he could get, and I came home the next night to 5 spots of vomit all around the house. Had to come in and pay for the cerenia they should have sent home in the first place, wasn't too happy about them popping a $60 dollar supplement I could get at my work for $40 and throwing a $2 dental chew just to nickel and dime me when I have tons of dental chews. Fast forward to bringing him in for his vaccines and I wanted to do the oncok9 cancer screening, the tech was super unprofessional, didn't seem to care the slightest about animals, told me "no news is good news" for the heart worm test.. when I was a tech I was happy to tell people their dog didn't have a deadly disease. Took him for the blood test, had to sedate him, brought him back to me and told me someone would come back in to check on him and make sure he was good to go. Waited 40 minutes and had to pop my head out and ask if I was good to go. Apparently there is no communication. The tech also initially said the oncok9 test was $400 because of the rebate- then it was $600 and I get the rebate later, they said to watch my email for something from them, finally called oncok9 and they told me how to go about it on their website, but I needed some numbers from the invoice, called the office and asked them to email it to me, they said A-OK, were gonna send me a $100 credit for all the combined trouble. I wait a f****** week and no email so I call and ask for it again and the lady on the f****** phone tells me that I don't get the rebate from them I get it from oncok9 as if she didn't listen to a single f****** thing I said. I NEED THE REQUISITION NUMBER TO GO TO THEIR WEBSITE AND GET THE REBATE. And she tries to tell me that the simpirica trio they gave me that was going to expire by the time I gave it to my dog "wasn't an issue" as if heartworm isn't a deadly disease and giving it to him past the expiry date would void simpirica helping pay for treatment if he got it. As if I didn't then point out how she was being dismissive and she just straight up denied it. Spent 1,000 dollars on a visit where they gave me expiring meds, I waited 40 minutes because they forgot about me and then got the absolute worst treatment from a tech. As a previous tech myself this is disgusting. Dr Casey, you are amazing, I wish your practice manager or you had actually reached out to me, I waited for a week for a phone call from her like that tech promised. Didn't get it and came in to refund my Simpirica trio that would expire and get a copy of his history so I could bring it to an office who cares. God save Dr. Casey. Run, don't walk. / this isn't including the fact that they never called me about the Oncok9 test results which only took 2 weeks for them to get but I had to prod about almost 2 months later because they somehow just didn't end up on the vets desk? And the tech who kept repeating how she left me a voicemail when I received no such voicemail from them and she could have very well just simply f****** misdialed my number. An edit: The day after posting my review I got a call at work from the practice manager who opened up stating her call was "regarding [my] Yelp review" and carried on about how she thought these things had already been discussed.. as if that means they go away. She admitted that she had staff that they kept for too long because they couldn't find anyone else, mentioned how mistakes were made but somehow failed to make out even a single genuine apology or any ounce of sympathy. Even when I thought I was coming to an agreement with her and I mentioned I had

We went in to see adoptable puppies and left disappointed not in the pups but by the people who service the animals. By walking in the lady in the front was scoffing, with attitude and being very disregarding. When meeting the puppies, we were not told ahead of time that they had ringworm and they had just let us play with her as if it is not contagious. After thinking about adopting we were determined not to adopt after the rude receptionist sees us asking for assistance and stated at us before pretending to take a call. Ridiculous service.

5 stars for sure .... I had a very sick cat with what turned out to be a hefty infection and attempted to find a practice that would take us on short notice. Although initially the next available appointment was 2 days away, office person Kat called me within a few hours of making the appointment to have me come in later today rather than wait for the original appointment due to the situation. She expressed compassion and concern for both my cat and myself. Thank you Kat for advocating for us!

Absolute WORST animal clinic I've ever dealt with. They tell you one price and then charge you a complete different price. They do not care about your pet AT ALL. They only care about money and charging you the most they can. Also EXTREMELY unprofessional, as we ended up taking my pitbull to a new animal hospital and they wouldn't give the new hospital my dog's records and wouldn't even TELL the new hospital what they did in my dog's surgery. DO NOT GO HERE!!!

Southgate animal hospital are horrible beyond imagination. I brought my dog in for a checkup on a few lumps he was doing great just wanted him checked out..They said it no big deal, small cis and popped them and said he looks healthy at 76 pounds and gave us injections and medications for a prior injury that has him slightly limping we paid 500 and left. 2 weeks later I took my dog in said he had dark p*** and they said he had a ulcer, being he had blood in his p**** from medication they had gave him and then gave him 4 more medicines $300 and sent us home. Following week he is on his death bed and they suggest now he needs a $500 blood transfusion and hospitalization and more that wasnt needed last Friday IF they found the issue..they said theres 2 options both she agrees with both and the other doctor says option 1 is best after seeing the xrays and ultrasound.. Option 1..hospitalized with agression on the ulcer and transfusion. 1800-2300 Option 2 surgery to go in and sew up the ulcer. 2200-3200 She asked has my dog ever eat a toy and after 8 years he NEVER had I said and assumed xray or ultrasound would show it.. Luckily (because option 1 would not have worked because they found twine in him clogging things and caused the bleeding) I chose option 2 but asked can it be cheaper for cash..she comes back with 2700..wtf? It went from low 2200 to hi 3200..I asked..wtf..they said it wont go past 2700 that's it nothing else.. This morning they call and say he needs medicine to counter react the anesthesia medicine and want more money so my dog wont be sick and cant eat.again wtf.. Instead of giving him a shot to stop the puck and let him eat they call me? I said fix my dog and call me when he is better..later that day they messaged me on Facebook (pic attached) saying he is doing great, eating and ready to go home. We pick him up at 5pm pay 2700 cash and he barely moves and they say it's the anastecia. The next morning we bring him to lockwood ridge animal clinic and they say he needs a ER NOW he is anemic and it's very serious and he should of never been able to leave like this. I bring him to the ER they come out to look at him and say we need to admit him now he is severely anemic and dehydrated. 1 hour later they come out and say who did the surgery they should of never let him leave like this..Now he is needing 24 hour treatment for at least 48 hours, multiple blood transfusions and put on a iv and a feeding tube. We now have 5500 we have to pay and they can't say if he will make it..they called southgate animal hospital to find how much blood was given and what type and was ulcers present and fixed..they refuse to provide any info being I told them I'm sueing them..life saving info they will not provide. When we were there at southgate animal hospital a customer came in that just got surgery done for 4,000 and the dog wasnt breathing properly, they told him they dont have time being he didn't have a appointment and the guy freaked out and left..another customer stood up and called the desk lady the B word and walked out....STAY AWAY, FAR AWAY. I WILL DO EVERYTHING I CAN TO MAKE THEM PAY FOR WHAT THEY HAVE DONE.. Here is the message saying my dog was doing great, eating and ready to go home.

I called over 20 vets in the surrounding area and no one would look at our bird. Dr. Casey and the staff at Southgate Animal Hospital were the only ones who stepped up to the plate. They got us in fast and were thorough in the examination room. The fact that this vet saw our pet chicken when no one else would and the nearest avian vet would make me wait 7days for an emergency appointment, I can soundly say Dr. Casey and her responsive team saved our beloved pet and gave her immediate pain relief as well. I can't thank them enough! Dr. Casey also saw that my daughter was interested in being a vet someday and encouraged her with loving words and offered her to come shadow her when she's ready! I think this speaks volumes about the kind of person/doctor Dr. Casey is. Thank you Southgate Animal Hospital for a wonderful and helpful experience!

Very happy with the compassionate service we have received from Dr. Casey, Dr. Angela, Leila and of course the front desk. Being able to schedule via email makes things SO much easier for me. Our puppy has a tail that wags the entire time she visits. Thank you Southgate Animal Hospital.

We loved the owner who has now retired. The " vet breakup" came when I asked for a copy of our vaccine records for sitters and to fly. I was told that we had to have the dogs looked at in person. When I said airlines do NOT require that before non international flights they said " we are not putting our license on the line for this". I double checked with 3 airlines. NOT one required an in person visit and now after 6 flights with our pups not one airline even asked!! They are all sbout the $$$$. Don't fall for the high horse routine. They know better but don't DO better. Take your dogs to Gulf Gate. Cohen has retired snd what's left is not worth your dogs health or your pocketbook.

I just read 13 reviews of Southgate Animal Hospital and I was shocked and appalled when I read the negative ones! I have nothing but good things to say about their knowledgeable and companionate doctors and pleasant and responsive staff! Yes, I had to sit in my car for a couple of extended periods during COVID, but they were overwhelmed with animals and just trying to give everyone the personal attention it needed! About six months ago I actually feared for the life of my 2 1/2 yr. old cat and broke down and cried like a baby in the exam room (I am 73 yrs. old)! Dr. Casey put her arms around me, comforted me and reassured me that my kitty was not going to die. You can't know how much that means to a pet parent unless you are one. My 6 1/2 yr. old female Himalayan cat died at (another vet's), and my 19 yr. old male Himalayan cat was put down at the same vet's, no one ever hugged me there! Last month my (now healthy) 3 yr. old female Himalayan/Ragdoll cat was covered with knots that she would not let me get out of her coat! I thought she was going to have to be completely shaved. She is a shy kitty with a very good disposition. The groomer and tech were very patient with her and spent a great deal of time hand combing the knots out of her (usually) beautiful coat! Not only did the kitty look better she felt so much better without the knots that she now wants me to brush her all of every day! Yes she asks for it by jumping up on my dresser and standing by the brush! She is also more playful now. I cannot thank Krish and Samantha enough for the care they gave her. Not only is this a great, over-all place to care for you pet, their prices are also significantly lower that practically all the other vets in town! I would give them 10 stars if they were available! I have been bringing my furbabies here for over 4 years. Ever since Dr. Cohen Sold the practice it hasn't been the same. The doctors are good but the people that work at the front desk are rude. They represent the entire staff ....when you walk in or call they are the first point of contact. Almost every time I have an appointment I sit in the waiting room or car for at least a half hour then they take you to a room ask and you wait again for another 20 minutes. I was there today and when I was leaving I quietly mentioned to Kat who was checking me out that maybe they could communicate a little with us... Perhaps say we are running a little behind but working to get you in a room for your scheduled appointment. Her response was rude. So I said maybe I should find another Vet she said OK with a big smile on her face. What ever happened to customer service. Was just asking for a little communication. I guess I should start to look for another Vets office as this isn't the first time they have been rude. Would never recommend this Vets office to anyone.

Do not believe all of the good reviews. I am certain they have family members leaving reviews. Here is why whenever you call the receptionist has zero empathy she does not explain procedures and if you ask questions or try to give her a tip or two if she is completely still rude and resistant. Based on the fact that this is who they have doing reception tells me that I would never want anything to do with the veterinarians. If they have this person as their head point of contact they are already making a terrible mistake this girl has zero empathy and I booked with Clark veterinary and I strongly suggest them the main point of contact and reception there is extremely nice and kind but the people over here like she couldn't have a single bit of empathy and I was just shocked and mortified do not go here unless you have no other choice. They didn't explain anything until I had to ask every single detail and she was so rude I literally cannot. People like this in my opinion I literally I just can't so rude do not go here Update. When I went to Clark's they were so in Fattic and kind and my cat got better right away the veterinarian was incredible he was so cool and everyone that I encountered was amazing seriously I'm not even kidding I don't know who does their hires but I was so impressed it was a little bit out-of-the-way but it was so worth it I love them.

I would never recommend this veterinarian hospital to anyone they are deceptive not honest and really not concerned about the animals. Not only are they rude and make people wait for hours in their car they then are not honest about examinations and things they do inside when owners cannot be present. I would never ever ever go to this clinic again and I'm sorry they are in business

I just moved to the area and needed an appointment right away. Dr. Casey was able to see my dog the same morning that I called. She seemed very observant and had a good grasp of my dog's issue and made recommendations that made sense to me. The entire staff was so friendly and compassionate. I felt like everyone listened to my concerns very attentively and I never felt rushed. If our future visits go half as well as our first, I'll be very pleased!

I was going to write a blistering review. Then I wasn't going to write one at all. Then...I talked to a doctor friend & my friend who rescues animals. I told them both the story, and they both told me to write a review. The good: A-L-L of the employees were very nice & very professional (NOT management & the owner). I'm sorry for losing my temper, the girls were following orders & just doing what they were told/their job. The female employees are the O-N-L-Y reason I gave a second star. The bad & the honest to God truth: I called for one basic thing-to have both of my dog's ears looked at. I figured I'd get their shots since they're both rescues. We go to Southgate (10 miles away), and the doctor says she'll tape his ears. The tech comes out & says they will NOT be taping his ears, I'm not happy with the miscommunication (on the doctor's part) and/or lies. The tech tells me it's $900. I said I just went to the bank, pulled money out & have money at my house. I handed her $200.00 cash. She said I can't take my dogs til I pay everything. I had to go home (it's 4 PM), (with snowbird traffic) I couldn't make it back in time. I called & told them this. They said they'd have to board my dogs & I'd have to pay for it. I couldn't have been more mad. The next day I somewhat cooled off. However, they call me & tell me I have to be there before noon or after 2 PM. I ask why, they said they go to lunch between noon & 2 PM. I own a small business, and this is an unbelievable/incredible business practice. I get there after 2 PM & I call. They say they're ready for my credit/debit card. I said I brought cash. She said, "We don't take cash." I might have literally lost my mind, I can't remember. Anyway, they finally take cash, I take my dogs & drive away. Within 2 blocks my one dog urinated in the car because nobody took him out. I'm new to Florida & the North isn't perfect, but we do know how to do business. Southgate is a joke & wouldn't last 30 days in Chicago. The girls that work there are just doing their job & what they're told. The owner & management have borderline brain damage. If Southgate were the only veterinarian in ALL of Florida, I'd drive to Georgia or take a boat to Cuba.
