Very disappointed. Bait and switch was used at time of car pick up. Reserved a Jeep Cherokee, at time of pickup, agent said he was surprised me by giving me a free upgrade. Maybe because the Cherokee was unavailable which is understandable. Just don't tell me I am getting a free upgrade and the upgrade is smaller vehicle. (CHEVROLET EQUINOX). Totally unnecessary. I am reasonable enough to understand that things happen. I definitely will be avoiding this company in the future.

I recently rented from Payless because they were cheaper than other options. All in all my experience was very good. The wait in line to get the rental was around 10 minutes or so, but it was 10:00pm and there was only one person at the counter which is not odd for the cheaper companies. The car itself was from Canada and was pretty rough on the outside, scratches and stuff. I was sure to take photos of the car before I left just in case, as I would do with any rental company. The inside however was nice and clean, no floor mats though. The return was easy and the staff was very friendly. I see many negative reviews and I’m not saying they are not accurate. People have different experiences with companies but I fortunately had a good experience with Payless. I would use this use the company again.

I’d give 0 stars if I could. My wife and I were charged for damages that were on the vehicle when we rented it. We tried to call customer service to report it but no one would answer. So when we returned the vehicle, we notified an employee in the return lot. He said we would not be charged but we were anyway months later. If enough people stop renting cars here, they’ll go out of business so, please, rent from another company. This place has shady business ethics.Update 7/5/23 - After leaving this review, the company reached out to me. I've updated this to two stars. It's unfortunate that this company would only communicate with me after such a negative public tongue lashing. They did, however, fully refund the charges associated with the original post.

First day picked up car, I was upgraded because they did not have vehicle booked. Started out with vehicle and noticed that one tire was low on air, I talked to the staff, I was told that it most likely was the air sensor in tire staff member told me, “we’ve had that problem before”.I told them I was not comfortable with the tire pressure can it be looked at or changed or replacement car ? I was told no one was available to look at tire, and they did have another car but it was very small compact car they offer. I’m 6’1” and 270 I’m not taking a compact car.We took the luxury vehicle and hoped for the best. I stopped at a local fuel station to check the air pressure manually, it was low 8-10 lbs I purchased air and filled the tire to proper pressure 38lbs. We drove to our destination about 30 minutes away. The tire pressure read about 5lbs less, we left car sit at our hotel for a few hours then decided to go out. Tire has now deflated 17 lbs and looked flat. I called emergency roadside assistance, spent several hours talking with them and customer service regarding the tire issue and was told a towing company was coming out to tow the vehicle back to rental car shop. Long store short no one showed, spent another 30 minutes trying to get a hold of someone. Started getting late canceled everything for the night, next day 7:30 started all over again trying to get help, an hour on phone and told they would get help out as soon as possible. It was noon and had not heard back from anyone. Maintenance guy at our resort saw we had a flat and let me use his air pump, I was able to get enough air in to drive to gas station and fill. At which point I took vehicle back to airport car rental to exchange. When I pulled in the guy out side told me he thought he see us back. Desk people inside were helpful but when explained what we had been through for two days I received an apology, I asked if there was anything they could do for our inconvenience they told me that they already upgraded us to a better car.Based on the service we did not receive I would not use AVIS or any of there associates Payless, Budget.

I have never been so floored by how ridiculous a car rental place is run. No sign at the counter telling you to join the Avis line, so once you figure that out, you stand in line for an egregious amout of time. Like get a snack and a gallon of water cause there are 3 people at this counter and 3 dozen people in line. Our rental pickup time was 11am, our flight landed at 1109 and it is now 1 pm. UPDATE: we have a car and are on the road at 2:23.

Everything was fine until I dropped off the car and they charged me $9.98 a gallon for 4 gallons of gas, even though I had just topped off the tank. I had already entered the airport when I got the email receipt, so I had to go back out to the car dropoff and talk to them. I young woman checked the car gauge and apologized and said she would fix it and that I would receive another emailed receipt reflecting the price adjustment in 15 minutes or so. I did not. So I had to call, wait on hold and finally get my money refunded. While I was waiting, I overheard one of the workers talking about me and she told her co-worker "when this happens, I just say 'sorry, can't help you, have a nice day.'" The whole thing seemed shady and like a scam.

Awful. The line was so long and wasn't moving! Approx 70 people in line at the Sarasota Airport. We ubered to our rental house as we had an appointment and then ubered back to pick up our car. A major pain and costly as well. VERY DISAPPOINTING!
