BEWARE!!! If you post negative reviews and/or are assertive with staff they will discontinue services for your pets.I arrived for a 4:20pm appointment and at 4:45pm, after watching a number of other pet owners get served, I asked Sen how much longer it’d be. I was told “Just a bit” and, thankfully, asked for a more specific timeframe because she came back after about 5 minutes and told me “The doctor suggested you reschedule your appointments”. I asked again, how much longer I’d have to wait and she disappeared again for another 5 minutes but this time she came back to say “The techs are all leaving at 5pm so you can’t be seen today”. It should be noted that it was now about 5pm, the sign on the door says they're open until 6pm and there were at least 4 other animals waiting to be seen and at least 2 in exam rooms. I asked a third time about how much longer I'd have to wait, because I didn't want to have to fight traffic for at least an hour, going back and forth another day, after taking off work early. Olivia interjected, refused to give me an answer and offered me two alternative appointments, one for the following day or day after, while rolling her eyes and communicating other overt non-verbal cues that she was extremely annoyed with my persistence. It should also be noted that when I initially called to make this appointment for my dog to be seen about his dew claw getting injured, Pamela told me they didn't do medical treatments and suggested I call another vet's office. I expressed disbelief given that my 15 y/o dog had enucleation surgery completed in this clinic on both eyes in 8/23. Then I asked about picking up heart worm prevention medication for my younger dog, that I adopted from HSSC in 12/22, and was told he'd need to get a blood test before I could pick those up. Again, I was perplexed, given that his last test was completed in July 2023, but went ahead and made an appointment for that and to get both dogs nails trimmed. I was going there anyway and thought I'd rather give them the business instead of a groomer. Pamela apologized, after repeatedly putting me on hold for extended periods of time, trying to get my questions answered and further explained she'd only been working there for about 2 weeks. She also told me they've gotten really busy, have had a lot of staff turn over and thanked me for being patient.I understand emergencies happen but don't understand why I couldn't find out how long I'd have to continue waiting to get at least my dog's blood draw so I could get his heart worm medication. I also felt Sen was being disingenuous and/or dishonest given the different reasons she provided for why my dog couldn't be seen that day and I was never given an answer regarding how much longer I'd have to wait. By the end of this horrific experience, both of my dogs were panting excessively and shaking under the bench where we were sitting, as far away for the other dogs as possible, given there were a variety of them displaying aggressive behavior towards each other and people, but most disturbingly a toddler.Since this incident, I've called other vets and learned that a heart worm test is good for a year, which is what I thought, so who knows why I was told I had to get a blood test before picking up my dogs heart worm medication. This entire experience was ridiculous and not handled in appropriately or professionally! The only reason we ever tried this clinic was because I rescued my newest animal from HSSC and their fees were slightly less than our former vet's office. We're grateful for the care we received before these issues but are gladly returning to our former vet. Before you come to this clinic keep in mind, you get what you pay for and today it was noting but aggravation, horrible services, disregard, and defensiveness about being caught giving inconsistent information. I typically don't write negative reviews but wanted you to be aware of what occurred so you can make an educated de

Honestly, I’ve never been happy after leaving here. We adopted a cat from the humane society, they told us she was sick but isn’t contagious anymore as she was done with her meds, well she got our other cat sick as soon as we brought her home. I was able to get over that and we continued taking both of our cats to this vet, but not anymore since we found a better one. They’re hard to get into, they decline my appointment requests 8 times before I’m able to get them in. It feels like they’re trying to steal my money because every time we have an appointment they come up with some stupid reason for why they can’t do the vaccines on both of my cats that day and I’d have to bring her back next week or they couldn’t neuter my other cat because they wanted to “monitor a heart murmur for a couple weeks” but the vet I took him to in between those visits said there was no murmur. They choked my cat with a towel to give him his shots, the needle went in and out his arm and the liquid in the needle shot at the other doctor, they peirced right through his arm. The vet is shady, incompetent and rude. When you need anything, paperwork, prescriptions, appointments, etc from them it’s as hard as pulling teeth. They avoid you and ignore. They even ignored Chewy’s representative reaching out to them for my cars prescription food. How are you going to be a vet, prescribe something, not give me the paperwork I need to be able to get it again then ignore all of my attempts to reach out and get what I need? A pathetic excuse of a vet.

Humane Society of Sarasota County took amazing care of my Dalmatian puppy as she got spayed. I was put on a waitlist due to the amount of appointments they have each day and expected to have to wait months to get in. They called me within a month and was able to schedule my pup’s spay for a fraction of the cost of typical animal clinics. They did a wonderful job with the actual surgery including proper care of the surgical incision, easy drop off and pick up, and ready to go medication to bring home for her. I am extremely grateful for their service and my puppy has recovered wonderfully. I would definitely recommend this facility to anyone interested in adoptions or the clinic.

First time here and I went in for a dental consult for my two cats and unfortunately did not have a good experience. The front desk staff and technician were extremely nice and pleasant. However, the doctor herself was rude and judgmental of the condition of my cats, one in particular. Said one needed a cleaning and an extraction while the other would need a cleaning with multiple extractions. Put lots of emphasis on the “pain” they were in which I was doubtful of given that they prefer their dry food over their wet food. Gave me an estimate for the future dental and removal of a cyst for the cats which I believe was between $1500-$2000. Went up front to discuss scheduling a dental and was informed there is a long wait but they would essentially bump me to the top because of how much “pain” my cats were in. They said they would call and it has been about 1-2 months since my visit and I haven’t heard anything from them. After not receiving a call and not wanting to have to deal with that doctor again, I decided to go to a local vet for a dental consult/wellness visit. I told him everything the previous vet told me and they said neither cats needed cleanings or extractions and weren’t in any pain. He demonstrated this by pressing on the worst looking tooth in my cats mouth and she didn’t react. Also, he was able to take off the tartar on the other cat’s teeth with his nail and joked that he just save me $400. In short, I wouldn’t go here at least not for dentals. It is very clear this doctor tries to charge for unnecessary services and procedures by guilting pet parents/owners into them through exaggerating their pet’s condition. Kind of ironic too given the Humane Society Clinic is meant to be an affordable option so people can get medical treatment for their pets.

Dr. Santiago is as unprofessional as it gets. If the stress of the job is too much you shouldn’t be working with animals “doctor”. Body language says he doesn’t wanna be there, rude demeanor and tone thru out visit, and not to mention calling the pets owner a liar….Sheesh. Rest of the staff is sweet and helpful. One star so people can see this!
