Waterside Inn on the Beach was a beloved collection of cottages directly on the sand on Sanibel Island, offering a taste of Old Florida. The property was not fancy but was generally described as clean, comfortable, and well-priced, with large rooms and a fantastic location. The beach itself was full of shells and sand dollars, known for beautiful sunsets and sea turtles. The inn provided chairs and separate beach towels for guests. The cottage format was a great solution for families or groups, with a small, quiet pool on site. Its location was excellent, being close to supermarkets, restaurants, and other amenities while avoiding heavy traffic. However, some found the accommodations outdated and noted a very narrow beach. Significant concerns were raised about rigid policies regarding early arrival, parking, and a lack of onsite management to address issues or offer assistance, with some guests feeling the owners were unresponsive. Tragically, the Waterside Inn was completely gone following a hurricane, a loss deeply felt by many former guests who cherished its unique charm and hope for a potential rebuild.
