“Our large Labradoole mix has been going to Dr. Ewert at South Gate since we adopted her as a puppy. My husband & I adored this dog. Fortunately, she was healthy most of her life & saw her vet for routine check ups, heartworm prevention & shots. As she aged, she had arthritis, an occasional urinary tract infection or ear infecton. Each time we took her in for a problem, Dr. Ewert explained in detail the infection, how to avoid another, and gave directions for the medication we took home. Once, he drew a diagram of a dog's ear for me to completely understand her infection. He was always spot on with diagnosis & provided me with the Rx & treatment my dog needed. Sadly, last week, Dr. Ewert and his vet tech, Jessica, had to put down our 12 yr old beloved girl. She was beginning to suffer from cancers Dr. Ewert discovered several months ago and we couldn't treat. The kindness, compassion & support this vet and his assistant gave to my dog and me on one of the hardest days of my life, were incredible. I will be forever grateful. I never felt my dog & I were just another patient and owner. Dr. Ewert and Jessica treated us with loving care. South Gate is not just a business where these two special people earn a living. “I moved here in 2020, right around the pandemic. My husband and I are here in the winter and in Illinois in the summer. I’ll shorten my story. We got a new pomapoo puppy in November 2021 who loved Doc Mullins. Teddie also liked his neighbor Locatelli who lives across the hall in our condos. Fast forward to 2023, Doc Mullins is know taking care of Teddie, Locatelli, Rigatoni, Nelly, and Maverick. All of the new owners have said they are happy and staying with Doc Mullins. This happened to be an accident, and Teddie is now neutered. Thank you Doc Mullins for all the great work you do for our furry patients.”

“I took my 17 year old beagle to VCA after his cancer had spread and his quality of life was rapidly deteriorating. The entire staff and specially Dr Betts were absolutely incredible with us. Dr Betts sat with us, not only to explain the euthanasia process in detail, but also she sat down to confort us, hear us and reassure us this was the right time for our fur baby to go. She was kind, respectful and very loving throughout the entire process. I am glad I had her by my side in that very difficult time of letting my buddy of 17 years go. “Dr Peterson saved my dogs life & I cannot be anymore grateful for what her and the staff have done for Binx! We called at 5pm on Thursday and was told to come ASAP her and her staff ran a lot of test on my dog and stayed past closing time to finish his test. I got a call from the Dr as soon as they opened the next day with results and was told to come back in for more testing. I had no appointment either time and they got Binx looked at immediately. This is a very honest and fair priced vet. She was honest and referred me to a 24/7 animal hospital which saved his life. Thank you guys for everything you guys do!”

“I was visiting here from another state for a few weeks with my Lab got within a week of arrival a terrible "hot spot" or bacterial infection and ear infection. I had gotten in another Vet the same day I called to be seen and that is because that Vet was incompetent and what that Doctor did and didn't do caused my dog to worsen. There is a reason why you can get in a place same day - because they have NO clients. I was finally able to get into VCA and they saved the day. I can't tell you how incredible thorough they were. They spent from the time I walked in the exam room 2 hours going over everything and diagnosing my dog. I HIGHLY recommend Dr. DeFransico as one of the BEST and was amazed by her knowledge, care and concern. As well as the Vet assistant, Josh was incredible. Don't go anywhere else if but here and you won't be disappointed.”

“I needed to board my dog Jack for the Memorial Day weekend and being new to the area I wasn't sure who I could trust. Where we used to live my dog's vet was with VCA so it was nice to see there was a VCA here in Cape Coral and they also had a pet resort. So for me, it was a win win situation. It was so easy to transfer Jack's records over here since both veterinarians are under VCA. Before boarding I took him in to get caught up on his vaccines and to establish a relationship with the new vet. Everyone there was so friendly, patient and professional. Boarding him here was a breeze they didn't require prescreening like some other boarding places in the area. They didn't require unnecessary vaccines, just the main ones. Baywood does one on one care with the animals so the dogs get the full attention of the technician, which I loved. When I dropped off Jack the boarding tech came to pick him up at the waiting room and asked me to leave him like you would a child on the first day of kindergarten. I thought it was funny but I totally understood. When I picked up Jack he was happy to see me and the boarding tech. told me how it did. I took him home and bathed him (my choice) and he passed out on the couch. Now Jack has only been boarded twice before this and both times they were not pleasant. Both times he was boarded was in Broward county on the east coast of Florida. One time he caught kennel cough (he was vaccinated) and the other time he came back hoarse and with a rash on his stomach. When I picked up Jack at Baywood he was peppy, he wasn't hoarse, didn't get any illnesses, nothing. If you don't mind not having all the perks of a pool, live webcams and group playtime then I would highly recommend this pet resort. The only thing I would have loved is to see the inside where they slept, to see how big it is. This will be our go to place for boarding Jack when he can't come with us.”

“We have been going here since 2017 which says a lot but today, a Saturday, was exceptional. We knew our precious Beau was dying but wasn’t sure when & of course wanted as many days or even hours with him as possible as long as he wasn’t suffering. They had prepared us for the warning signs of wording lymphoma & yesterday the signs began & got worse through the night & the next day. From my initial phone call the advise, caring, professionalism shown by all the staff was outstanding. They ushered us into a private room immediately & helped us make one of the hardest decisions we’ve had to make ever! There was no rush & we & & our dog were treated with dignity & respect. Beau definitely RIP. I’d thank the staff individually but was too distraught to catch names. We we even able to leave privately. Thank you again!”
