Sanibel Island Beach Resort was one of the few resorts open on Sanibel Island in January 2024 post hurricane Ian. The resort is up and running, rooms are clean, and service was great. The hotel restaurant is under construction but the tiki bar is open with a menu. The location is great and right on the beach, location is AMAZING. Ample parking. There was no real need to leave the resort. Beach out front was a great spot to catch both the sunrise and sunsets.

At first glance we were impressed, that quickly changed when my wife woke up and was bit by bugs all over.Room 126. Trip advisor traveler had bugs in 144. We have reached out to the GM, many times left VM, was asked to send email w photos no response. Just keep hearing from front desk he is busy trying to get restaurant open. As well as all the other disappointments of the beach being rebuilt daily, huge dump trucks and excavators working on the beach, it truly is sad 16 months later looks like IAN passed a week ago. Traffic was horrible too. My advice is pack bug bombs n bug traps check daily. Food truck onsite was ok. And beaches have parking control that poach travelers - a one n done trip for us. We will never be back. Still out a bunch of money and extra money fighting bugs and bug bites. I have photos of you want to see em.https://photos.app.goo.gl/MLkcmNnuCyySo8Kj8

We stayed here for two nights. The place has been recently renovated after hurricane Ian. We really liked how quiet the area was and the pool was amazing. I dinged the room a star because the bed had ruts from use. It was comfortable, but it wasn't new. The bathroom was missing a shower curtain too. Water got everywhere when we took showers. I'd stay here again. Just know that the island is still recovering from hurricane Ian. A lot of the restaurants are closed still.

Buyer beware! This is a rather quaint beach motel style facility, but it is certainly not a "resort". For the reasons stated below, it is over priced and is not worth the premium charge for the room. To add insult to injury, they also charge a daily "resort fee" even though there are almost no amenities except for the small pool near the beach.Despite the website info about the Sandollar Restaurant, the restaurant is not in operation, is still badly damaged (windows and doors missing) and is months away from being ready. They conveniently do not tell you this, and when we mentioned this to the desk staff they stated "we may need to update our website"!Instead of a restaurant they suggested we eat at their taco/burger truck in the rear parking lot, which is their substitute for the restaurant! Also the "resort" advertises tennis courts, but they fail to say they can't be used. They are in complete shambles, with the nets missing and the lights and fences are torn down and laying on the court! They also failed to mention that very loud giant dump trucks filled with sand come on to the beach starting early in the morning a couple of hundred yards away and that monster excavators and road machines go up and down the beach spreading the sand. All the above criticism is made because the "resort" fails to mention any of the issues noted, and they charge a premium price as if the place was in top condition. They could be honest and forthright about the real condition of the property but they have chosen not to be. The price of the facility needs to reflect the true condition at the property.Food & drinks: No food and drinks available except at the pool bar.

Checking in to this resort was a nightmare . First they said we didn’t have a room and then they found it . They sent us to the wrong room 2 times and then the badge you have to use to get into your room didn’t work. It took over a hour to check in. And they didnt even offer an upgrade or a discount . This place definitely needs people who knows what they are doing .

The security guard Greg has a chip on his shoulder. We were occupying 20 roomsI’m disabled and legal to have flower. Security had a tantrum as I was alone in parking lot ? he called PD - blew it up into something unnecessary. However, it is interesting that The hotel knows the security guy has an expired license as he likes to shove in your face. I snap’s a picture and saw it’s expired ! , he liked to intimidate guests women alone in parking lots and not identify himself.. Security Greg Bangs on doors accusing other guests they stole a package at 11 pm - even balled his fist at the people in charge who confronted him with the GM of this poop fest then found out he was wrong hahaha he is a liability for the hotel - because the security is so shady and the hotel is OK with it that he kept his job? I would not stay there again for safety purposes. The facilities and location themselves are incredible.Safety: Horrible BEWARE!!!

The staff were friendly and helpful. They have nice grassy areas for dogs. The landscaping is very nice. The restaurant isn't open yet, but a food truck is there most of the day. Good food.Clean rooms are really tastefully decorated. They are still working on repairs but didn't hardly notice them.We enjoyed our stay.
