Casa Ybel Beach and Racquet Club on Sanibel Island offers a serene and charming beachfront experience. Set on 23 tropical acres with more than a quarter mile of private beach, the resort features three-story lodges with terraces overlooking the Gulf of Mexico. Guests enjoy an Olympic-sized heated pool, a wading pool, a poolside bar, and a heated spa, along with six tennis courts, barbecue grills, and the Thistle Lodge Waterfront Bar and Grill restaurant. All units are two-bedroom condos with full kitchens, comfortable living rooms, and large screened lanais that provide stunning views of the Gulf and tropical surroundings. The bedrooms include a king-sized bed in the master and two twin beds in the guest room. The resort’s location is ideal for relaxing walks, biking, shelling, and enjoying the natural beauty of the islands. Visitors appreciate the friendly staff and beautiful outdoor areas, with some mentioning the presence of a sand volleyball court and proximity to small preserves and the lighthouse. Accessibility features include ramps connecting resort rooms to the beach, making it easier for guests with disabilities to enjoy the amenities, though some steps at room entrances could be improved. The resort is especially popular during the winter months when visitors escape colder climates, and December visits reveal festive decorations such as Christmas lights on palm trees. Reviews highlight the peaceful atmosphere, friendly service, and excellent facilities, making Casa Ybel a highly recommended destination for those seeking a quiet, scenic, and comfortable stay on Sanibel Island. Once open again after rebuilding from Hurricane Ian, it is expected to be even better than before, offering a fantastic, renewed experience.
We were their a year ago and heading back next month. Nice calm and relaxing.
January 2026
Great service , food, beach, room, and staffstaff. 2026 update. No smart TV in rooms. Upstairs bathroom is very small. Honestly post hurricane having no updates is kind of wild. So knocking down to 3 stars. Staff at restaurant was rude. Weird step at restaurant by bar that I hit my toe on twice

Beautiful 180 degree view of the Gulf. Beautiful pool that is much improved, especially for lap swimming, now that it has finally opened after Ian.
