I spent four years here. I wish I had transferred while I had the chance. Other students and I had a lot of issues with professors being genuinely mean and being lazy. Once I showed up to my 8:30 am class for my professor to play a YouTube video of another professor teaching the subject. The dining hall food was often bland, overcooked or undercooked and gave us food poisoning on more than one occasion. Something I find unacceptable for how expensive the meal plans are. The dorms smelled damp and often had issues with mold. My first week of school I got a respiratory infection from being in the dorm. We also had issues with the heating turning on the n the winter time and despite maintenance telling us it was fixed it wasn't. I did however like the events that went on. Our spring and fall festivals were nice. Getting to go to Universal studios for $20 was the highlight of my year. We could watch movies on the lawn, get airbrushed shirts, have food trucks visit and more. It was also a pretty famous to look at. But it doesn't make up for the other stuff. I wish I had gone to a more cost effective school. I started before COVID and in recent years the school has gotten itself into financial hardships. We even had a change of Deans because of egregious spending. The tuition hikes haven't made campus life any better it just hurts my pockets.

I transferred to Saint Leo University during my sophomore year, from a different college. I have since transferred out of Saint Leo due to the fact that my degree program, international hospitality has been discontinued by the university. The good: There is none. The bad: Be ready with your bucket of popcorn to read this. Overall, the campus is pretty. It was maintained well. One of the things that got me upset was that the mowers would come at 6am to mow the grass, while I was trying to sleep. Dorms: The apartment I was in was very nice. It came with a private bedroom for 4 people, 2 bathrooms, and a large living room for all 4. It came with a full size fridge and microwave. I had to switch to a very similar room in-between semesters because I had a horrible roommate situation. The Res Life department was hard to come by when it came to roommate situations, as in the fall 2022 semester, they were at 100% capacity for all dorms. I was trying to switch out earlier, but it didn't work out until the start of the spring semester to move into the new room. The old room also flooded. We never found the source of where the water came from. We never got housekeeping to come because it was on a Saturday when it happened. The carpet cleaner didn't come until very late. It was a messed up day that day. Food: RUN AWAY!!! It is HORRIBLE!!! There was only 3, supposed to be 4, dining options on the campus. There was the dining hall, a market, and a coffee shop. There was supposed to be a wellness center cafe, but that closed a month after the fall started due to no staffing. There has been no talk with that cafe re-opening for the next school year. The food was better during the hours of lunch, during the week, only. The hours on the weekend were terrible, as they closed the dining hall at 6pm. I found myself ordering delivery through third-party services every weekend due to the fact that I was starving at 7pm if I went to the dining hall at 4:30pm. Not good at all for the students staying on campus. Please keep in mind that if you live in a dorm that does NOT have a full kitchen, you are REQUIRED to be on the top tier meal plan. It was the unlimited but they have switched it to the 19 meal plan. Events: Saint Leo had events going on their campus daily during the week, but not on the weekend. I found myself extremely bored on the weekends as there was nothing to do. The only time they had something going on the weekend was fall family festival and the open houses they had. I didn't have a car, but was told that things to do was up to a 30 minute drive each time as Saint Leo is in the middle of nowhere. It was very hard to find something to do on the weekends. Classes: I had some really good professors and some horrible professors. I had a professor fail me for a class because I was sick with the flu during an exam, and did not let me make it up. I also had a professor that did not use the D2L platform correctly, making it hard to understand what assignments were due. If you are struggling with a class, I found myself either at the tutoring center or at the library studying with other classmates to understand the materials. Classes are not easy, they make you work hard. Please use RateMyProfessor when finding a professor for your classes. Also, please go to your academic advisor instead of the student success coaches because you will wait up to 3 hours to meet with a coach while you can just walk up to your academic advisor to talk to them, like registering for classes for a future semester. Others: All of the other departments were fine to deal with. Mail Room was very easy to work with. Saint Leo does have Greek Life, but they are always promoting their groups. I was not into Greek Life. Please keep in mind that Saint Leo is going through a lot of financial uncertainty at the moment. They had to make an announcement back in February that laid off 111 positions, discontinued 3 degree programs, discontinued 6 sport teams (cross country, track & field, and swimming), and some other things. The school is very broke, an

My daughter ordered a coaster and cup and we received the coaster broken and cup scratched. She called and spoke to a gentleman who told her to ship it back for replacement. We are down for graduation so we brought the items with us to exchange. The manager of the book store was extremely rude and would not exchange products and told me to put a claim through UPS. I explained that the package was not wrapped correctly is why it broke. I showed her the little piece of wrap it came in and I was told to “prove it!” by her. The managers were very rude and disrespectful. Don’t order online because they don’t stand by their products.

This place is kind of what you expect for a campus store at a small university. It would be nice if they had a larger selection of school gear.

I called to switch my textbooks from pick up to online textbooks and I got an inappropriate voicemail back from someone who works there. I don’t know how this happened but I will be reporting this.

I called the bookstore before 5pm and was rudely cut off twice. Does the bookstore close at 5 pm?

Saint Leo University has four new degree programs in response to workforce needs over the next 10 years. The College of Health Professions for the Spring Semester 2022 will offer an online, upper-level coursework leading to a Bachelor of Science in Respiratory Therapy (BSRT). Employed respiratory therapists with associates degree will be able to learn to be team leaders and managers in the field. Very impressive and organized campus visits.

This university is a good university, it is a beautiful campus and has a lovely environment. The only reason I give it 3 stars is due to the fact, I've had troubles with one teacher who doesn't understand that technical difficulties are a thing and the fact that I live in Snyder and it is off the main campus by quite a bit. Though at the same time I do not mind. Overall this university is an excellent university with mostly kind and understanding professors. They have a nice dining hall and kind workers.

The campus looks to be very accessible from the parking area, and instantly brings you a sense of sociable comfort once you step onto the premises. Though it may look overwhelming to navigate to a freshman, it won't take long to get used to it and see it as a sort of outlet mall with it's own monuments of symbolic and historic value, almost forgetting from the immersion due to such expandability that you're in a university. Not to mention the various areas in which you can relax at outside of your dorm if you live in one, which can help build sociability skills for those who may lack it. Though I am connected due to the pandemic and only looking at what the campus offers from various videos that has been created from previous students on this college, a thing that I can truthfully comment on is the diversity; looking in the comments of the videos I saw and seeing the students that I share classes with, there are people from all over the world who either had parents who immigrated here or even were transferred over from their home country. It helps anyone of any cultural background and heritage to feel welcomed, and allows for friends to be made with very interesting people that will definitely be worth your time. I hope to see more of this university and what it has to bring outside of Zoom once it's more safe to be out in public without any regulations again, but for now this is my review as a Freshman writing this for my Leo Lesson #4 assignment from my First Year Experience (SLU 101) class.
