If you are looking for a fur baby, please go here. This is a no-kill shelter that does an amazing job taking care of the babies.

Don't even waste your time! Their adoption process sucks. You fill out application and wait 14 days to see IF your selected to adopt. If you are not selected you won't hear from them. They obviously are not in any hurry to find the pets loving homes. Plus, they want a $100. I went to Hillsbourgh County Pet Resources, picked out two cats, did some paperwork and walked out with my new babies AND THEY WERE FREE!!!!Again, don't waste 2 weeks with this rescue!!

I haven't adopted from them. I donate towels, toys, food, etc. They've been appreciative. I'm happy to have a place nearby to donate them. ... Just a comment to those disheartened by the adoption process. I'm from out of state and the process exists for safety reasons. Dogs get adopted and abandoned (again) because they weren't a good fit with the families; behavioral issues can occur if family members don't mesh with the animals; etc. Try not to take it personally when you don't get the dog. The "right" dog (or cat) will come along.

We adopted two kittens from CARE a few weeks ago. Everyone we met throughout the organization was so kind and helpful! The volunteers were very familiar with all their cats and kittens; they knew which ones would be suitable for first-time pet owners and steered us in the right direction. They answered all our questions thoroughly and with no judgement. The application process went smoothly and we heard back from them within a few days! When we went to go pick up the kittens, I was blown away by how nice and supportive everyone was - they gave us a care package for the kittens that included a cat bed, food, and toys. When I asked about what flea medication they were on, they even gave us a pack of it! I highly recommend CARE to anyone who is looking to adopt!

Amazing people here. They truly love dogs and cats. Very professionally run, volunteers are so nice and helpful. I just can't thank them enough for all they do.The animals all have clean comfortable places to sleep and eat and volunteers work with them and make them wonderful pets to adopt.

Really wanted to adopt one of their lab puppies. I came to look at the dog to adopt and they told me to fill out an application.I was told that they have a specific process and “if you don’t hear from us you weren’t selected - we don’t call back everyone who is not selected because we would be on the phone for days”.Um what? They almost acted as if they didn’t want to be bothered to show the puppy. Also when I mentioned we had 4 kids, they told me that I needed to bring all my kids to see the puppy because puppies don’t always like kids. I was like why would I bring all my kids to see a puppy if I have no idea if we will be selected? So they can get excited, for you to not select us?I appreciate what they do for the animals, but the staff is just not welcoming. They were not friendly and it made the experience really awkward. It is unfortunate because my children, big yard, beach trips, and loving family really would have really been a great home for one of their puppies.

Absolutely terribly place. TERRIBLE! This is the adoption process… you go in fall in love with an animal, then they take you to the office to fill out an application THEN they tell you that you have to wait up to 2 weeks and during that time other people can also put in applications or there might already be applications on the animal. They don’t call you if they don’t choose you. It’s is so cruel to let me walk in and fall in love with an animal and then just let me sit in anxiety waiting for a call that you will never receive. I’m so sad and heartbroken. Do not go here unless you want to sit in anxiety and have you heartbroken….

Very unprofessional workers. They lied and sold me a dog, told him home and was called to take him back because he was promised to someone else. They got the dog back but I did not get my money back! The dog was showered before I told him back fand they put him back in the dirt. Be Aware People!!

The way they handle their adoption methods and notifications is absurd. I'd be cautious doing business with them. Seems to be more about the money than the animals.

Application process is unusual and extremely subjective. Once you apply for a dog/cat, your application goes into a pool of other applicants (not first come first serve). The manager then choose their favorite of that pool which can take two weeks. The applicants that were not chosen never receive notice that they did not receive the dog/cat and simply have to find out on Facebook or by calling.

Stopped by to make a donation of towels and blankets. They are very picky about what they will accept. Looked at a puppy they had for adoption played with her and filled out the paperwork. Ok so we were not chosen. To be a 501 nonprofit organization they are running it like an high end and exclusive establishment. They seem to not take rescues just surrenders. I guess the pets go to the high fee paid. Check out the county shelters first.

Wonderful and very helpful. Both our dogs were frightened during the Hurricane and ran away. A nice person brought them to the Rescue. Drax was chipped and even so it was an our of state number = they called and we were able to pick them up. THANK YOU
