I can't express enough gratitude for the exceptional care provided at this veterinary office. Dr. Dexter and the entire staff go above and beyond in ensuring the well-being of our pets. Their compassion, expertise, and dedication make this place the only choice in our area for pet care. I highly recommend this team to anyone seeking the best for their fur family members. Although our experience was in Viera I'm under the impression all Island locations operate similarly. I would not hesitate to make an appointment at any location.

I heard good things about this facility. I visited the one in Viera. I first went in to check out my 10lb dog to have a growth looked at on her head. I was impressed with how the vet looked at it and then proceeded to extract fluid from the growth and said it was likely just a cyst. Thank Goodness! I felt confident with expertise and proceeded to have my dog's teeth cleaned, which I was very, very nervous about since she was 11 yrs old, but healthy. They did the blood work, and monitored her heart during the teeth cleaning. My dog had 14 teeth extracted. I was astonished, but she did very well until a week and a half later. Started to have bloody stools and throwing up. She didn't want to eat. Took her back to Viera, had xrays and blood work done. She was so anemic - It was determined she had bleeding ulcers. So I started to look up the medication they gave her after going through recovery to find out that the non-steroid anti-inflammatory drug side effects include bleeding ulcers. My dog was given other meds (anti vomit and anti acids, and something to coat her stomach/gi tract) to help with that new diagnosis. For 3-4 days later she was getting worse, dangerously close to having a blood transfusion. I then made the decision to go to emergency vet hospital. She finally is doing much better as of today. It's been since early December when it all started. My neighbor also went to Island for teeth cleaning for their lab, and now their dog is also throwing up after a couple of weeks and now on anti-vomit, and reduced acid medications. Coincidence? I don't know, but beware of this procedure of teeth cleaning.Something in their surgery protocol is causing this reaction. I hope they will change whatever they are doing so other pets don't go through this turmoil.

I have found Island Animal to be very responsive and caring in the treatment of my two small dogs. My Pom has several serious health issues, which were diagnosed here after other vets in the area just ran me through more tests without figuring it out. There is no cure, but he has managed to stay stable with the medications they prescribed.

I am so appreciative to this office for working me and my pup in last minute after she woke up and was unable to put weight on her rear legs. Thankfully she is fine, but the Dr was so thorough and the entire staff was so patient with my scared pup. Their prices were also fair.Let's be frank. Veterinary care isn't cheap, but they provide top of the line service for a very fair, clear cost. Thank you so much for your service to our community.

My dogs get great care at Island Animal Hospital. The staff is super friendly and caring. They are very accommodating getting my dog in as soon as possible. This time my dog needed a kennel cough vaccine in order to be groomed. They got him in the next day. It's very clean too..

Such an awesome place! I called about my duck being attacked, and they immediately got me in with only an hour before they close. When I got there, they got me quickly to a room so my duck felt comfortable. The doctor and technician were so kind and empathetic. They were very honest with me about the physical state she was in. I was able to schedule her for surgery the very next day. The whole team was very attentive caring, and I couldn't have asked for a better experience. I was expecting a bill close to a grand, but it was so affordable! I will be taking all my animals here!A big shout out to the awesome technician that worked on Marley. She has ducks as well and made us feel so comfortable!Thank you to Marleys team for taking good care of her!

They are the best! They fit us in and took great care of my Nemo after he suffered stomach problems after boarding for the weekend. The staff and Dr. Ian were so thorough and thoughtful. Nemo is feeling better every day thanks to the special care he received.

The staff at Island Animal Hospital, including Dr Gaundry and Desiree, gives excellent customer service. They listen and they explain everything in detail. I trust them with my pets. My 13 year old dachsund and my new 13 week old Morkipoo.

I was able to get in last minute for my ferret, most places were booked out and required a deposit, which I would have paid, except I was still searching for a sooner day. I believe 24 hours or less, on a day and time that worked for me. Everything ran smoothly. Price stayed the same, didn't try to upsell anything unnecessary.

If I could post 0 Stars, I would. My 11-year-old Yorkie was coughing and Island Vet told me his x-ray showed the same results as those from several months before at the emergency clinic -- Bronchitis. I was told to leave him for a breathing treatment and to pick him up later. When asked, Albuterol was mentioned as the treatment, and I was told I could he would also be sent home with a prescription for Albuterol. However, he was much worse when I picked him up. (The Vet Tech, not the Vet, revealed my dog was not treated with Albuterol but instead placed in an oxygen chamber, which made him oxygen-dependent, but they couldn't keep him overnight because they closed. Vet Tech advised me to take him to the overnight Emergency Clinic because he wouldn't survive the night at home. She said the Vet would call the clinic and advise them of his condition. The Vet did not explain any of the above. I was shocked to see my dog worse off than when I left him.) I regret ever agreeing to drop him off for a "breathing treatment of Albuterol" typically used for Asthma and Bronchitis" that was never used, especially since he was placed in an oxygen chamber, instead, without my knowledge. I rushed him to the clinic after dropping him off. The emergency clinic kept him for several nights in an oxygen chamber with treatments of Morphine and Viagra to open his lungs. I visited him before and after work and on my lunch breaks. He was alert and seemed better than when I'd picked him up from Island Vet, but his breathing was still labored. The Emergency Hospital called me three days later, on Friday morning, to inform me to hurry over because Prince was dying. I rushed over, but the rain and traffic turned the 10-minute drive into almost 20, and he was gone before I arrived. My precious little Prince Charming was gone. Island Veterinarian should have advised me they would be placing him in an oxygen chamber that would render him dependent on oxygen instead of on the Albuterol treatment they promised to give him "in the back" which would "take a while so that I'd have to drop him off and pick him up later." Their diagnosis to me was "Bronchitis," while the Emergency Animal Hospital's diagnosis was "Pulmonary Hypertension." Either the Island Veterinarian Doctor lied to me about his condition, or she didn't know what she was doing. The Vet Tech at Island Hospital was more communicative and direct. She said that once placed in an oxygen chamber, a dog would become oxygen-dependent and wouldn't be able to breathe on his own. Oxygen for Bronchitis? The Vet was going to write a script for Albuterol for me to go home with him in this condition? He was worse when I picked him up than he was when I dropped him off! Watch the attached video of how he looked when I picked him up before taking him to Emergency clinic and how he slightly improved at the clinic. Island Vet made him worse! Instead of telling me he was dying, she was going to prescribe Albuterol for his trip home. The Vet Tech knew better or was more forthcoming. She told me he would die at home but may have a chance at the Emergency Vet. I will never take any future pet to Island Veterinarian. I lost my precious companion of 11 years to a Veterinarian's bad treatment and lack of communication that the Emergency Vet tried to fix! I am inconsolably heartbroken. This Vet lied to me or realized she'd misdiagnosed him and never communicated the change in treatment plan, knowing he would die, and yet perpetuated the lie by saying she was writing me a script for Bronchitis medicine to give him at home. Either the Vet Tech was more knowledgeable than the Veterinarian, or the Veterinarian shared the truth with the staff but lied to me. Either way, my precious little dog is gone due to negligence and lack of communication by the Island Veterinarian on staff that day, someone I'd not seen before. The Emergency Clinic was basically a Hospice for three days, and I didn't get the chance to say goodbye

The staff and Dr. Birbeck were awesome. Our dog is very anxious/fearful at the vet and they were so great with him. They came highly recommended to us and we are so thankful.
