worst planet fitness ever! staff is rude & unreasonable! terrible customer service! i would recommend going to a different location or canceling

"I had a fantastic experience at Planet Fitness, and Hunter was a big part of that! During my first visit, he gave me a thorough tour, patiently answered all my questions, and was incredibly friendly. When I returned almost two months later to sign up, he remembered me and welcomed me with a big smile. The gym is always clean and quiet, and the members are respectful, which makes for a great atmosphere. My only suggestion is that the General Manager could use a bit of customer service training to better match the warm, welcoming vibe of the rest of the staff. Other than that, it’s been a great experience – thank you, Hunter and Planet Fitness!"

Planet Fitness has an awful reputation as is with cancellations, this location is exceptionally worse. After finding out Planet Fitness has been charging me for years after I originally requested to cancel, I went in person to make sure the cancellation was actually processed. I also asked for invoices showing proof that I paid. The club manager absolutely refused to provide this and told me I could wait an hour or two at the front because he wasn’t going to print anything at my request. He also refused to email anything to me. He would not provide any email address for the franchise owner/group and was absolutely not helpful.
In contrast, my spouse recently cancelled with Crunch and they made that process so easy. They also provided the invoices for the entire year and even gave free guest passes for us to come back if we wished. Night and day difference, I know Crunch has built a new gym in the area, I’d check that out over this location.
Planet Fitness chooses to practice business without doing anything over the phone or email, not because of limitations but because they intentionally want to make doing business with them difficult in hopes you let them charge you $10/month in perpetuity. Stay away from Planet Fitness and the Tampa Gym Group. No customer focus, shady business practices, awful location.

Not near enough lifting equipment for the amout of people. Way to many treadmills, elliptical, and bikes that are not used. They need to be replaced with more smith machines and lifting equipment. Quit letting students lift for free all they do is set on machines on their phones. There is little to no gym etiquette and rules are not enforced.

Hello my name is Thomas and this location has helped lose over 50+ pounds since the start of the summer. When I first arrived I didn’t know what to do so a very nice employee helped me out gave me a tour and told me about the summer pass. Since then i’ve purchased the Black Card pass with the help of the GM Mr.Mike and Maria who helped through the process. I come everyday and no matter if they’re having a bad day they always greet you with a smile and even have conversations with you. Overall this location has an amazing vibe to it and even tho I have the option to go to any Planet Fitness around me i’ll choose this 1 in a heart beat.

This gym is always clean!!! Staff is always willing to help or answer any questions!!! The Manager Mike is very nice and great at his job! The trainer for the classes, Luis, is a phenomenal trainer!! Super nice!!! Very knowledgeable!!! Will modify exercises if you need to but also pushes you just enough that you can feel really good about pushing through when you struggle!!!

I've been a Black Card member for a while, and unfortunately, the Planet Fitness location in Riverview has been a disappointment.
My biggest gripe? It's 20 minutes from my home in Ruskin - a significant commute. Planet Fitness desperately needs to open a location in Ruskin!
Comparing this gym to other PF locations I've visited nationwide, this one falls short. Here's why:
- The equipment needs upgrading. The StairMaster machines often malfunction, and the elliptical machines don't allow backward striding (and time out if you try).
- Parking has become a nightmare since the adjacent supermarket opened, with no designated PF parking spots.
On the bright side:
- The gym is never crowded when I visit.
- The staff always greets me with a smile.
Until Planet Fitness opens a closer location in Ruskin or addresses these issues, I can only give two stars.
To Planet Fitness: Please consider expanding to Ruskin, FL! We need a convenient fitness option.

Horrible experience here. I suffered a really bad car accident and I almost lost my life. I was out of a job because my injuries and called them to inform them of my situation but they didn’t care and kept charging my card every month not informing me on freezing my account or anything. I was in a different state when it happened so they communicated I would need to send a letter to be able to cancel and after I did send a letter they said they didn’t receive it and kept charging my card monthly. One of the managers I talked to regarding my situation was rude and lacked compassion. Had I been treated with an ounce of decency and informed on freezing my account while I am injured I would most likely still be a customer here. But I will be perusing other fitness places elsewhere and not recommending this place

I am extremely disappointed with the behavior and professionalism of Myke, the manager at the gym. On multiple occasions, he has been incredibly rude not only to me but also to other members. His attitude is consistently negative, and his communication skills are severely lacking.
A few weeks ago, I attempted to enter the gym as a guest, but Myke refused to let me in just because my plan had expired. This was despite the fact that I was able to go to another location immediately afterward, where they had no issues letting me train. Myke's behavior is unacceptable and far from professional. Someone needs to address this situation, as it reflects very poorly on the gym’s management.
