Dennis is a great trainer and has lots of experience to share with his clients. He asks what we want to accomplish and customizes the training to suit one’s needs. He’s extremely personable, loves to chat. He had to remind us a few times that the training is for us, not our pet. He gives you the best way to be able to train your own pet. So the client has to do their homework between lessons to make the most out of his sessions. Highly recommend Dennis!

I started training with Dennis about five years ago. I had a giant schnauzer who was a handful at times, he helped me to related to my dog in a different way. One of his attributes is that he knows how dogs think! January, I got a new giant schnauzer puppy and started my training at three months old with Dennis. He trains in a way that the dogs actually enjoy their training sessions.. He has a certain way of handling, that Dogs really respect him. Totally understands how dogs think and react to different situations. This is so important.. I highly recommend him. I've trained many other dogs, and I like his way of training.

Dennis is great to work with. He is interested in making sure you and your dog improve. We have seen significant improvement in our 8 year old rescue. I highly recommend Dennis.

Dennis helped me take control of my large, strong German shepherd who was basically dragging me down the street. While I am a proponent of positive training methods, they weren't working in my situation. Dennis has many ideas and a strong working knowledge of this wonderful breed. He was patient and he even did videos for me to help me perfect my technique. If not for him, I am pretty certain walking my beautiful pup would still be a nightmare!

We adopted a 16 month old german shepard. The training and guidance we received from Southwest K-9 Academy made such a difference in our dogs behavior. It's good to know we can take our dog out with us, and he is well behaved, not pulling on leash or barking at people. The knowledge that Dennis shared with us was extremely helpful as well.

Dennis and Southwest Training Academy are the BEST bar none. We have a young rescue Akita that was rejected by two other owners because he was so wild. We now have a real gentleman who is a pleasure to have. Dennis was able to immediately assess his and our problems and communication needs. He is so friendly and such a good dog now I cannot adequately express my admiration for how Dennis has transformed our lives. We had experience with other dog trainers in the past and none can hold a candle to him. Thank you so very much Dennis!

We have always had purebred labs before but after losing our last one we rescued our 70% lab, 20% beagle and 10% tree walker coonhound, we named Lou.Being dog lovers we are and trying to work with Lou we knew we needed help. Lou came out of a kill shelter in Louisiana and that's all we knew.Did a lot of research online and luckily found Dennis.This guy is amazing with dogs and their owners.Lou was kind of a wild dog who would not come when called, drag you down the road trying to walk him and had really no personality.After meeting with Dennis and after 8 individual sessions we now have a lovable mix breed Lou that can walk with us on or off leash understand the common commands of set stay come heal and is turning into a wonderful dog.Dennis is more then just a dog trainer, he worked with us as owners and trained us on how to train Lou.We highly recommend Dennis and his lifelong commement to help dogs and their owners to meet the goals you want to achieveWe are lucky to have him in our community

Dennis was recommended by my veterinarian.My dog had been acting aggressive with other dogs and I felt like I could no longer handle him on walks. I felt anxious because I didn’t know when he would be reactive. We worked with Dennis once a week for 12 weeks. After the second training I began to see improvement. Dennis educated me about dog behavior and taught me how to change the dynamics. My dog and I are now a team and he trusts me to provide clear and simple commands so he no longer has to feel insecure and protective. He’s now able to meet and greet dogs in a controlled environment and if they get along, he can play off leash. I’m out of town now with my dog and I brought him to a dog park yesterday where he played well with many of he dogs. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND DENNIS for any dog training needs.

Dennis is great and helped me learn how to work with my dog to control his behavior and be best buds. Neighbors and friends all commented that he was a different dog after training with Dennis. He is worth every penny and I highly recommend him.

We recently hired Dennis for our mini goldendoodle, Mia, and we couldn't be happier with the results. After a disappointing experience with another local trainer, who only wanted to sell us an expensive package, we were hesitant, but Dennis truly exceeded our expectations. He did a wonderful job in our home, addressing all of our concerns and tailoring the training to Mia’s specific needs. Now my dog behaves in a manner That everyone around here loves . Dennis was always on time and he was very understanding when conflicts in scheduling happened. Denis is a great dog phicologist. He understood our German Sheppard from day 1 and adjusted us to her and our behavior to accommodate the dogs language. Great results after only 2 training sessions. She is so well behaved that we took her to the White house!... Highly recommend Denis to any dog owners.
