Pet Care

New Hope Pet Hospital
24901 Sandhill Blvd Ste 8, Punta GordaToday was our first visit to New Hope for a yearly and to address some allergy issues. Brutus is not animal friendly but is cool with people, his continuous bark at everything makes him a very intimidating 70lbs pit pup!! The entire office staff was friendly and accommodating. Dr Simoneaux was very pleasant, he listened to my concerns and came up with a plan to tackle Brutus’s allergies. So far my experience has been great thus the 5 ?

Punta Gorda Animal Hospital
25120 Marion Ave, Punta GordaDr. Winter and his entire staff are AWESOME!!!! If I could give a ten star rating I would. Today I stopped by their office to see if they were open yet due to Hurricane Milton. My 14 year old Labrador Cahill was overdue for a monthly injection that he receives. Even though they weren't open and the staff were in the the middle of cleaning up from the hurricane damage, they administered Cahill's much needed medication. I am so thankful to all of them.

Florida Animal Care
11002 Nathan Ct, Punta GordaThis place is great! I have a pittie and they gave us our own entrance and exit. Our exam room was nice and comfortable, almost like home. Everyone was so nice. The doctor got down in the floor with our dog and was rewarded with lots of kisses. The vet is incredible! What is usually a stressful situation for me was a breeze here. Outstanding service, care and people! Highly recommend!

Choice Veterinary Services
6101 Duncan Rd # 105, Punta GordaI wouldn’t have my little Lilly if it wasn’t for Dr Shaw and his amazing staff! Monday started off with a very sick little Kitty. We took her to our local vet and they couldn’t see her. I tried everything as I had a feeling she wasn’t going to make it if she didn’t get help soon. I tried calling every vet office around and no one could see her until I called Choice Veterinary Clinic in Punta Gorda. This was a half hour drive but her only chance. So glad we did. Dr Shaw was guarded but realized when he saw her she wouldn’t survive if we didn’t do something immediately. I left my tiny little fur baby there in his hands and he promised to call with an update after getting labs and fluids started. We got a call with news that her WBC were extremely high and they were giving 2 antibiotics along with the fluids. The prognosis was still guarded but the staff was amazing at keeping us updated and Dr Shaw called himself to go over a plan of care and our choices. We agreed it best to remain there to keep getting fluids, antibiotics, and some nutritional support. They called after closing and gave me positive but guarded news and called first thing this morning. They were planning on repeating her labs later and decide if she was strong enough to come home. She was starting to act more responsive and alert. This afternoon I got the best call. She was eating some and her lab work was in normal range and we could pick her up at closing Today, just about 30 hours later! We got greeted by a very happy staff! They took such great care and made sure we had all we needed and explained her continued cares needed at home. Tonight she ate for us and took her nutritional supplement. Rolled on the floor and purred like her normal self. She had a lot of lap time too. We just want to Thank Dr Shaw and his caring staff for saving our little girl and her sister was glad to see her back home too!

Peace River Veterinary Clinic: Degrove Reece Julie DVM
327 Cross St, Punta GordaThe staff is very friendly and helpful. The vets answer all your questions and don't rush you. The vets I went to before would have you drop off your pet and call you when they are done, so you didn't get any information from them. It was so refreshing to have the vet spend time with me. I was previously told my dog had a heart murmur but never knew how bad it was. This vet told me that it was only a 2 to 3 out of 6. That gave me reassurance. My dog is 13 and I want to keep her as healthy as possible. Love these guys.

BURNT STORE ANIMAL HOSPITAL
16480 Burnt Store Rd, Punta GordaI adopted a frenchie two days ago and she seemed to have some peeing issues (i figured maybe a UTI). Dr Kerr got us in right away as they have a history- he was the first vet she saw after being rescued. Dr Kerr is absolutely a phenomenal, kind, intelligent man who cares so much about your animal babies! Even tho he “fit us in” he spent however long I needed in order to get my questions answered. He understood I have PTSD from losing another frenchie in the past and truly made sure he did everything in order to make me comfortable and happy before leaving the visit. I am not one for reviews but I just had to write this! I truly cannot thank him enough. He is a frenchie expert and I will be going to him as my main vet now for all my pets ?

My Cat Nap Cottage
6101 Duncan Rd, Punta GordaWe brought our cat Biscuit to My Cat Nap Cottage for a 2 night stay. We have never left him before. We had checked out a few cat boarding places and decided that this was by far the best place for Biscuit. Our experience was wonderful. The owners are very accommodating and friendly. Antonio spent time reassuring us and showing us how comfortable all the cats were, and then let me spend as much time as I wanted to comfort my cat. The facility is spotless, and each "room" for the cats is spacious and clean with their own cat posts. Erin, the owner understood that I was stressed leaving Biscuit for the first time, so when I called after the first day, she answered all my questions and stayed on the phone reassuring me that Biscuit was doing really well. A little while later she sent me a Report Card on how he was doing so far, and sent me 2 short videos letting me see that he was fine and interacting. I will definitely use My Cat Nap Cottage in the future anytime I can't bring Biscuit with me when I travel.

Southwest K-9 Academy
9041 Swiss Blvd, Punta GordaDennis is a great trainer and has lots of experience to share with his clients. He asks what we want to accomplish and customizes the training to suit one’s needs. He’s extremely personable, loves to chat. He had to remind us a few times that the training is for us, not our pet. He gives you the best way to be able to train your own pet. So the client has to do their homework between lessons to make the most out of his sessions. Highly recommend Dennis!

LMB Bagels
145 W McKenzie St, Punta GordaOMG ok pics to be added later as my phone is in the other room and the OSU/Michigan game is seconds away from starting. Which is why I'm posting my appreciation for Luv My Bagel. We have a tradition within my in-laws: bagels and cream cheese on the biggest game day of the year. My in-laws split their time 6 months in Punta Gorda and 6 months in Denver. They just got back to PG and we were scrambling to find a bagel shop for our pick up this morning. Thank heavens for google and Luv My Bagel. OMG the CUTEST walk-up establishment. Instructions on the wall outside below their menu. Their hours are clear they are open four days of the week that's how successful they are - WOW. Also, they are open until 12 noon OR until they sell out. Think about that! My in-laws picked up plan, Asiago, garlic and Ohio bagels - bakers dozen/13 and plain, scallion, and jalapeño cream cheese. OMG just busted my daily net carb allowance and WHO CARES today - so worth it! We've perked my MIL's attention and we're so grateful for LMB in PG just a short drive away. Help support your local business and support Luv My Bagel! When we return we are totally coming back. Pics to follow I promise. GO BUCKS!

Beef 'O' Brady's
24901 Sandhill Blvd UNIT 14, Punta GordaArrived Saturday, 2/22, evening at 8:30pm and got stated. Was walked by three different booths with hostess until ahe finally found one that wasn't dirty. After being seated, we sat 15 minutes while being completely ignored and watched a waiter and waitress walk by us four times without even acknowledging we were there. They had plenty of time to keep going back to the booth next to us full of teenager. Hostess could care less that we were leaving. We used to love always going here but, no more! Place has definitely gone downhill. New management is very much needed. Went down the street to Applebees. We were seated and taken care of within 2 minutes.

Winesett House
139 W Marion Ave, Punta GordaWent on a Monday night, not busy at all. Lovely large courtyard out back (was worried the chairs wouldn’t be comfortable, but they were) so decided to sit there and enjoy the evening outside. Had music playing but could still carry a conversation. Loved the bread and soft butter with honey! Ordered deviled eggs and honey strawberry crostini-both delicious. Entrees were the filet and sweet and sour meatloaf-definitely would order them again. The food was made my a chef and not just a cook! Server offered dessert but didn’t sell it like she should have so we passed-but there’s no dessert menu because they are changed daily.\nLoved the ambiance/vibe of the restaurant and plan on going back soon.

john ski's house of breakfast & lunch
502 King St, Punta GordaFood: the food was good and had flavor. They ask you how you like your bacon and it came out crispy - the way I like it. The biscuit was on the very dry side but it was okay. The eggs and grits were good. The price was right and the amount was good. I didn't have the pancake but I saw one and they are huge! Service: very friendly Atmosphere: cute little diner that gives you a homey feeling. It has tons of Detroit lions items so if you like the lions, you will like this place. I would go back if I come back to the area.

The Perfect Caper
121 E Marion Ave, Punta GordaWhen my sister and I were down from Sarasota this past weekend visiting my daughter and son-in-law, they treated us to The Perfect Caper. First impression: quiet elegance and a bit of sticker shock. Final impression: I’m still waking up thinking about that meal three days later. Not a restaurant, a dining experience!\n\nOur server, Eric, set the stage. He has perfected his profession, from giving us just the amount of help each wanted in making our choices, to serving each course at the perfect spacing for our dining preference, to being always there when we wanted something without ever hovering or being intrusive. It was as if we were the only table he was serving, which we definitely were not.\n\nAt 79, I have had to alter my eating habits with smaller portions and a bit less spice. With Eric’s help and hints, I chose 3 Pan Seared Scallops (no lemon), and a side of the Brussels Bacon. This turned out to be the perfect amount to leave me just enough room to enjoy one of the scrumptious desserts. The large scallops were pillowy puffs of perfection in a luscious brown butter sauce. I can still remember that first bite. As that silky morsel almost melted in my mouth, I was in love! The Brussels Bacon was the ideal accompaniment, grated and served in a tasty sauce, with bacon crumbles on top. No need to sacrifice flavor for any age limitations here, my taste buds felt totally pampered.\n\nThe others with me had similar positive comments about their Penne Sausagnaise, Filet, and Moroccan Spiced Lamb. We had started off with appetizers of pate and focaccia, both very good. Unlike some upscale restaurants, there was no hesitation at setting four appetizer plates to share the two appetizers. Eric’s goal was to provide OUR perfect dining experience, and he fully succeeded. We all went on to try a different dessert, and my Banana Pudding Tart was exceptional. My sister, daughter, and son-in-law, who know my eating habits well, all sat with dropped jaws as I finished the last bite.\n\nThis is the meal I have most enjoyed since I moved to Florida almost 30 years ago. I must give thanks to Eric for making this such a memorable experience, and to Chef Jeanie for giving us the opportunity to taste the wonderful fruits of her creative endeavors. I never expected this outside of New York. If our dining experience was typical rather than the exception, this restaurant should have Michelin stars!

Elena's Restaurant
1101 Cross St, Punta GordaWe tried Elena's yesterday while visiting Punta Gorda. We really liked our experience. Our waitress was excellent. She was very friendly and attentive. Service was fast, almost too fast in that our meal arrived before we finished our salad and soup. The food was fresh and tasted great. I personally didn't care for the gravy (with the chicken dinner), but it was okay. Everything else was great. Portion sizes are large. Prices are very, very good. Their menu is diverse, and I'd love to visit again to try some of their other offerings. Great, cozy ambiance feel to the place as well.
