In my experience, the biggest scammer I've ever met.
Very nice and personable. Once you give him money, he disappears. Eventually he will lie about the status of the work, the money, and if he'll ever show up.
Run from this place.

Downs Custom Woodwork replaced our 20 year old kitchen cabinets and we love them! Easy to work with and super responsive, Scott’s attention to detail and professionalism made it a very easy and enjoyable. Highly recommend Scott Downs!

Scott claims to build a good quality custom cabinet at a low price. His prices can be attractive, but getting the cabinets on schedule is impossible and getting him to come back and address quality issues even harder.He was months late delivering cabinets during construction of our home, which caused a cascade of schedule delays across the entire project. During this time, we heard every lie and excuse in the book about when he was going to show up or why he failed to appear yet again. His no shows and accompanying lies far exceeded those of all other contractors on the project combined.After the cabinets were finally installed, the paint began peeling on one of the kitchen cabinets. The peeling has now spread to every cabinet near a heat source: the refrigerator, oven, dishwasher, etc. Scott came out and looked at it and said his finisher neglected to properly prepare the material before painting and assured me that he'd take care of it. I've been trying to schedule him to do that for literally TWO YEARS with no progress.Our project was not unique. I know of others where he's left issues unaddressed for over a year and counting.Save yourself the trouble and use someone more reliable.

I've refrained from posting as I think Scott is a decent person. His woodworking skills are above average BUT he does not, will not perform contracted business with any timeliness nor respond in a timely fashion to requests. Should you need any painting done, look somewhere else. Overspray on walls, floorboards and crown molding was most obvious and left to the homeowner to fix. In the end, its not worth the hassle. There are plenty of other great carpenters.

After 2.5 months I kept getting the run-around. Was promised 7 delivery dates and Scott Downs reneged on everyone of them. He told me yesterday he would deliver at 2:00 today (Sunday 5/23/2021) that he would deliver it at 2:00 because Saturday he reported that his brother needed one more day. At 2:45 today, he asked if I would come to the shop and see my custom cabinet before he delivered it. I called his bluff knowing he asked this because he had missed his 2:00 delivery. I am sure he expected me to say no, but I didn’t and went up to inspect the cabinet. It is as not finished. No drawers, no shelves, no top, no hardware. He even had the audacity to blame me for imposing on his family time to be at his shop on a Sunday. I didn’t pick the day or time, HE DID! Scott Downs is a horrible business man, has zero customer service skills, does not fulfill his written contracts, does not meet his self-imposed deadlines nor delivery dates. How he has stayed in business perplexes me. To say I am unbelievably unimpressed would be a major overstatement.

To say I was underwhelmingly unimpressed would be an overstatement. Scott Downs is a horrible business man. Not once did he keep his word, honor our contract, meet his self-imposed deadlines and delivery dates, and then to add insult to injury, wanted me to inspect the custom-built cabinet at his shop an hour after he said he would deliver it for the 7th Time. I called his bluff and went to the shop to find him scrambling. The cabinet was not complete, no drawers no hardware, no top,and no shelving. He expected me to say no to inspection so he could work on it another day. Ironically and falsely stated, he said his brother was finishing it yesterday. A boldface lie. Scott Downs is a con man, a liar, not true to his word and a horrible business man with zero customer service skills. He yelled at me when he said he was taking time away from his family to complete the cabinet. I think 2.5 months is plenty of time to construct one cabinet. Do NOT be conned by this man. Look elsewhere for a more reputable cabinet maker.

Scott from Downs’ Custom Woodworks did a Fabulous job for us!!! He did our kitchen, bunk beds, outdoor kitchen and great room built in cabinets! His work was excellent, any problem was taken care of in a timely fashion, work was neat & clean and he was always polite and respectful! We highly recommend this company!!

Downs Custom Woodworks, LLC has been building custom cabinetry for VB Custom Homes since 2016. Mr. Scott Downs' is very talented and has an eye for workmanship and has built many of our custom cabinets including wall units and closet spaces. He always aims to exceed our expectations and finishes the projects in a timely fashion. We would highly recommend him.

Scott did the cabinets, wall unit and closets in out new home. He did a beautiful job and was very responsive when we later had some appliance issues that necessitated some modifications.

We had to gut our entire kitchen and needed a completely new layout so custom cabinets would be best for us but we didn’t think they were in our budget. Downs custom woodwork’s cost ended up being comparable to what we could find at Home Depot (not custom). We’re so glad we were able to get the custom kitchen layout that we wanted to complete our home. We have referred Downs custom woodwork’s to many people.

Scott built our kitchen to our precise specifications. He did a great job. We had some issues with the paint much later (4 years later!). He came and solved all our problems perfectly and promptly. He is very professional and easy to work with.

In 2015 we had Scott and his company build all the cabinets, vanities and custom closets in our home and everything was so perfect and reasonable that we just hired him to do everything again in our new place. That’s how good they are!
