Wonderful staff who have provided excellent care to our two dogs. We also have boarded our dogs here many times and will continue to do so. Great place!

Left this vet and giving only 3 stars due to bad business practices. So, here is the scenario. I have been going to this vet for a while now and they have gotten quite a bit of our money. I have been so happy with the vet care. I felt so comfortable and have been so happy with how much knowledge the staff has. Specifically, we really love Dr. Carrell. But you only get one shot with me when it comes to conducting good business with good customers. Dolly, my oldest baby is sick with a urinary track infection. $300 vet bill that included blood work. Fine. No problem. I get it. Vetting is expensive. Separate urine analysis another $56. Fine. Seems silly. I did the work getting the urine and driving back to the vet for drop off, but ok. Don't include it in the initial bill, fine. I don't agree with it, but ok. I pay it. They said they will call me with results and I can swing by and pick up a prescription once results come back, so they did. I go to pick up the meds. They said it will be $83.10 for this special antibiotic. I questioned the charge letting them know that sounded high for an antibiotic or dog Med of any kind. The receptionist agreed and then I asked, if I would be better off going to Sam's to get this prescription? She said she really had no idea if they even had it and she doubted it,but I could always check. She said she really had no idea if they would even have something like that or not. So I paid the $84.10 on my card reluctantly. As I left, I was dialing Sam's pharmacy getting into my car. I got up the street and got the answer that I was needing. The prescription would only be $52 and they had it and would hold it in my name if the vet called it in. That is a huge difference in price. So I immediately called the vet back to let them know. She then said "Well, we cannot take back the medication because it's already left the building." My phone records indicate communication between 4:26pm to 4:41pm with this vet office and also included time spent calling Sam's as I sat in my running car up the street to come up with a more economical solution. That is approximately 15 minutes. Mind you......This is a pre-manufactured medication in a sealed box. It is a sealed medication and I was a block up the road. She continued to tell me that they would not take the med back or refund my money so that I could get a better deal at Sam's. Again this is a pre-manufactured medication, similar to something like a bottle of Tylenol that would be sealed and untouched. AND, again, I was only a block up the road and told her I was literally still a block away. She said it didn't matter!!!!! That is was their policy and they could not take it back because it left the building. A sealed unrefrigerated medication. Really? Give me a break. It had been from the manufacturer! I was furious. I told her that I am so serious that this could make me lose my business with them, and she said she was really sorry to hear that. (Disclaimer: She didn't actually sound that sorry.) Nobody called me back. Nobody cared. So I immediately started looking for vets. I accomplished all of this within the same hour I found the less expensive medication. Do you think that this vet office cared enough to make any attempt at all to either match the price or even call another pharmacy themselves to see if I could save any money? No. No, they didn't. This is BAD BUSINESS. You do not treat good customers like this. I have bragged on them and have sent other patients to them. This is the thanks this place gave me. Well, the joke is on them, because I have three senior dogs out of the five animals I have that are going to probably end up costing me a bloody fortune in the next couple years because I love them so much and I will get them vetted to the best of my ability in their old age. But it absolutely will not be at North Port St. Lucie Animal Hospital. I will be telling every pet owner who asks me where NOT to go and WHY. Please let this be a lesson on how to treat loyal customers in ANY busines

Dr McNamara has been my female cat "Jack-O-Lantern" Vetanarian for 5 years. This Past August Jack O'Lantern suffered a stroke. Long hard Road for Jack O'Lantern and myself , but, Praise God she made a full recovery. Jack O'Lantern visited the Vet today, to get a post check up on her full recovery, ear cleaning and nail trim. She got a Clean Bill of Health. Thank you Dr Mac for taking my calls and seeing this through and a shout out to Laurie the Tech who is always so sweet. Jack O'Lantern is just hanging out and relaxing- relief to her and to me her Fur Mom!

Such an amazing team here! Jennifer at the front desk went above and beyond to help me and my cat. All the girls at the front desk were so friendly, in general. They showed genuine concern from the moment I called, to saying good bye as I left my appointment. Samantha, nurse, was very kind and nurturing to my cat and she treated him as if he was her own. Dr. Carell was awesome! Very professional, knowledgeable, gentle and confident. He was very welcoming to answering all my questions, which was very comforting. He also gave me tips and things to look out for, for my cat's general well-being. Overall, I highly recommend this veterinary hospital. And, if you're a new patient, the first visit is complimentary. How helpful is that!! Thank you so much Dr. Carell and the North Port team!

I have a year and a half pup that was recently diagnosed with Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficientcy. That was after extensive (expensive) blood test. She was put on a medication she would need forever. I set it up with chewy on autoship. She was diagnosed on a Thursday and right after the phone call I had it ordered. I had to call the vets office twice on Friday only to hear "we approved it" I was back and forth on the phone with chewy and the vets front office until finally Chewy told me it was approved that Saturday morning at 8:00 a.m. The girl in the office told me they approved it "right away" So a few weeks passed and my dog is now regulated on this medication and I realized I would need more prior to my next autoship so I ordered it again from chewy. I ordered it on August 25th. A few days later I check my chewy order and it still says "preparing to ship" I call chewy and they say they are once again waiting on the vets approval. I call the vet again only to hear "they approved it right away" At this point I had my husband call the vet (maybe it was me?) Nope. He was telling them there has got to be some disconnect between chewy and them because chewy does not have a record of approval. The girl told my husband to "stop yelling at her" which is funny because he talks loud but was in no way yelling. I decided to call back and have Doctor Carell call me himself. I told the girl who answered I wanted to leave a message for her doctor. Her response was ," If this is about your dogs medication, I'll have our office manager call you" I started to tell her I wanted to speak to my dogs doctor, not the office manager and she interrupts me and tells me, "her office manager will call me back." I couldn't even breathe at this point! Was this a game to this girl? My dog NEEDS this medication. Without it, her body is literally starving itself. Not once was I offered a solution. I then drove over to the vets office and got my dogs records and will never go back. I STILL haven't received a phone call about this. Manager or vet. I've spent over 2,000 dollars here and never experienced a SERVICE (used very lightly) this horrible. My dog has been without her medication for a day now because North port st lucie animal hospital FRONT OFFICE does not care. Chewy on the other hand offered every way they could help. Emailed and faxed them multiple times (on record with chewy!) Chewy is not "allowed" to call the veterinarian per the vets say. These people only offer problems, no solutions. The only correct answer that should have come from that office is asking how they could help. They were nothing even remotely helpful and I would absolutely steer clear of this animal hospital!

I am updating my review because so many things happened since my original post. One issue is the lack of proper documentation i.e. one vet saying to us your dog has a heart murmur and not documenting it, then months later, another vet not believing us even though we told her repeatedly, we were told by the other vet, and it's not our fault it wasn't documented, being asked every single time what heartworm medication and flea and tick medication, our dogs are on even if we were there a month ago, definitely not a good use of time. Don't you have their records? Oh wait, I guess not since NOT everybody writes everything down. But I digress. The veterinarian was very dramatic about our dog having a heart murmur and said his lungs sounded terrible. Of course, she wanted to test him for everything which we did and we spent a lot of money on bloodwork and X-rays. While they were doing the x-rays, she popped her head into the exam room quickly and said, in a quiet voice, "I did a heartworm test and it's negative." No kidding he's on heartworm medication every month. We are very responsible pet owners. But that just proves my point that not everything is documented in our animals' records. It is completely unprofessional and probably unethical to not, document medical problems with our pets, and also irresponsible. We didn't even see the x-rays. We did return several days later for a follow-up visit with the original vet who diagnosed him with the heart murmur, because we wanted to see the x-rays. We saw the x-rays, and the vet said he was okay and has a slight murmur. he never mentioned that his lungs were horrible. We were also charged for that visit. It's as if we were charged for their mistakes. And finally, the issue which is hurtful and disrespectful is one of our dogs passed away last year that they had seen several times. I called them when he passed away to let them know and also told the vet who had seen him, while we were there with our heart murmur dog, that he had passed away. They never acknowledged Rufus's passing with a card, a flower, nothing. OK fine maybe they don't do that at their practice which I find completely insensitive as our animals are like our children but I let that slide. Even though I have never ever experienced this anywhere else I wasn't going to say anything to them, even though any time I went on their site to look up our other dogs' records I had to see Rufus's records. Today was the last straw. This morning, over a year later, I just got a message saying that Rufus was due for a checkup. Again, read your records, unless nobody wrote down Rufus's passing either! I called and told them to remove me from all correspondence and the person on the phone and couldn't get off the phone fast enough. She actually was annoyed that I was upset. Whatever, that's why we don't go there anymore. Bedside manner, compassion, professionalism, integrity, and the ethical way you treat clients is of the utmost importance. We have been disappointed along the way which is why we drive back to the gulf coast to see our old veterinarian.

Zero rating. I ordered Heartgard & Nexgard from Pet Meds. NPSL Animal hospital was significantly more expensive than PetMeds. Thursday AM standard procedure PetMeds sent an authorization request to NPSL Animal hospital. Thursday PM I was informed Dr. McNamara would approve after an examination of Willow. Willow was recently examined at NPSL Animal hospital for checkup and she received annual inoculation. I contacted NPSL Animal Hospital questioned the need for an examination since Willow was recently examined current for inoculations and in good health. The technician agreed and told me she would ask Dr McNamara to submit authorizatio that was Thursday. I called twice on Friday to inquire if authorization was returned to PetMeds it was not. Has of Saturday morning still not returned to PetMeds Obviously this facility does not act in the best interest of our pets instead unnecessary medical expenses, unresponsive to simple request. Reading other reviews this incident is not the only negative review.

We have been going to north port for 25 years, when dr gill left we left also, only to find out that a lot of vets only are interested in the money and not your animals. So we decided to give the new dr a chance and came back to north port. We noticed that they had changed also and would not allow us to be in the room when giving our dogs their shots and so on. I found that strange because my dog feels safer when I'm with them. Now fast forward to May 3rd when I took my little Levi in to get his teeth cleaned, we had done the blood work and everything came back perfect (according to them) we arrived at 8:00am and by 8:45 my little Levi was dead. They claim he had a stroke while under. I find it hard to believe my healthy little guy died from a stroke. I feel someone there made a mistake and we paid the ultimate price. We went to pick up Levi and all they were worried about was getting their money for the they said the medicine that they administered to him. 192.00 to kill my dog and I had to pay it. They didn't even bring me Levi until I paid the bill first. Then after I got home and looked at the bill they charged me 35.00 for cpr! Just like I told the guy when I gave him my card, no amount of money is bringing back my dog and at that time I was distraught and didn't care what they charged I wanted my baby! This place is just in it for the money and they don't give two shots about animals! Everything now is about the money and not about compassion for the grieving parents or what's best for your dog. I know I'm writing this while still grieving terribly for my dog but i have to warn people before they enter this vet! No compassion at all from the doctor either. My husband and I was balling and she never even welled up, I'm sorry I cry when I see anything about a animal hurt, maybe she has been hardened by all the parents she had to give horrible news to

I have been going here since I moved to Florida. Dr Carell took such wonderful care of my Labradoodle when he was sick with pancreatitis awhile ago. Also, Brandi, his assistant is knowledgeable and thorough and explained everything clearly. They are just great!!! Ii was given options for treatments and Rx.
